    Wouldn’t disagree with that.

Better horse Than Denman’s had to face in the race so far.

Second season chasers do well in this race so burton Port is of great interest at 10/1

Agree IC, it all looks perfect for Pandorama.
An 8-10 length victory at Newbury on his way to winning the Gold Cup.

Sorry to digress slightly – but did What A Friend really get dropped a pound for winning a Novice Chase 31L in his race prior to last seasons Hennessey?

Seems odd. Can anyone confirm or shed any light?

Very interesting news that Kauto might run at Newbury, I hope this comes to pass as the opportunity to put in a dazzling weight carrying performance is the only thing the great Champion has not been given the chance to do. Though arguably his heroics on a variety of tracks and distances make up for this.
Looks like a shot at legacy building and arguably is a year late and maybe not necessary but what a prospect.
Would be interested to know if the trainer was fully in agreement with the clearly enthusiatic owner on this plan.
Still Pandorama for me but fingers crossed KS, Denman make it to Berkshire.

Would love to see Kauto contest the Hennessey and put a beating on his rivals. But lets be realistic here, he isn’t built like Denman when it comes to carrying weight and has little chance off 190ish. Denman owns this race. In fact when Denman wins (again) he may have to carry Kauto home!

All jokes aside I’d like to see Kauto give it a shot but it’s a hell of a risk given that KG#5 is his real target.

They should have run Kauto in this race 2 or 3 years ago if thats what they wanted to do. No doubt it would be a mouth watering early season clash and bring alot of attention to NH racing but Kauto owes nothing to anyone, and rising 11 there is no chance he is improving and to win a handicap off 190 giving denman 8lb, he needs to be at the top of his game.
To me there would be 2 reasons for running Kauto in this, to improve Denmans chance of winning a 3rd Hennessey, or, Denman has regressed considerably at home and Kauto would keep everything else out of the handicap for Neptune collonge to be the only other horse in the handicap. Always come across to me that John Hales has taken a back seat in the Nicolls camp, maybe this is his day in the sun!!!

Pandorama had better win the Hennessey if Meade has any chance of landing the big one in March. Do ye who fancy Pandorama (out of the handicap at Newbury) to wini the Hennessey, fancy him to go to the top in March?

If he does run it looks more likely it’s the owners choice. Saying he’d like to run him 4-5 times this season and in this as he’s never won a top handicap (his words). It’s obviously his last year and they want to go with a bang.

Carberry wasn’t happy with him going down to the start and the vet found a trace of blood from his nostril.

Meade said he was grand when he got back to the paddock and he was mystified at how it happened – possibly banged his head in the lorry.

He’s likely to have a racecourse gallop now before going to Newbury.

Remember doing this last year..trying to find a winner that was getting lumps of weight from Denman. We all know what happened then..

Three i’m interested in this, should they run, are Weird Al, Neptune Collonges and Hey Big Spender.

Have always liked HBS and thought he had a really nice seasonal debut yesterday. I think he’ll really come on from that, is an impressive jumper, and with a decent paced race I think he could really come on leaps and bounds this season. Not sure if he’ll take up his entry or not though.

Saying that I think this could be Weird Al’s and would quite like to see him take it.

No bigger fan of the great Denman than I. His weight carrying performance last year was special.

    But …

In theory had he run off 182 – this years mark – this would have been the result.

    1)Barbers Shop
    2)Shd What A Friend
    3)1/2 Denman
    etc

This year there will be a dozen improving types rated in the 150s running off 10 stone.

E.G Carruthers beaten 23 lengths in the Gold Cup and receiving 26 lbs. Perhaps the great horse will improve again!

What a Friend will run in the Betfair Chase, not the Hennesy.
