The rain has started to fall at Haydock. The going is good at the moment but it was said yesterday that rain was expected throughout the day. With the Sprint Cup not going off until 4.30, there is the chance that it may be a good bit softer by the time they line up.
Limato is already out to 3/1 in places after trading at 2/1 generally yesterday. There has to be a doubt that he will run. In any case Candy had said the horse is better with a good gap between races and then went back on that in deciding to run him here. There seems deja vu here of the Sandy Lane, where he wasn’t going to run, then did and was pumped by Adaay in a minor upset.
I am on ante-post with Donjuan Triumphant at 20/1 and he’s 14/1 now. If Limato is pulled out it won’t affect my odds, so obviously I am selfishly hoping for more rain.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
September 3, 2016 at 10:49 #1261971I’ll give you odds of 1/8 that Limato is pulled. I thought Quiet Reflection showed what a classy filly she is with her July Cup run on fast ground. I can’t imagine her finishing out of the top 3 if all is well with her.
September 3, 2016 at 11:23 #1261980Hope so Chivers I got 8’s each way Ante Post.
The bookies are daft pushing Limato out, I’d have thought they would have made him odds on for the bumper rule 4 deduction…..

September 3, 2016 at 12:36 #1262006It is persistently raining here in Yorkshire and apparently the other side of the Pennines is the same!!
I am on Suedois and Magical Memory bot each way but this weather will suit QR!!

Cut back in to 5/2 Nathan, if they go 9/4 the deduction will be 30p instead of 25p, so it makes sense for me that they would leave him at the 9/4 odds.

September 3, 2016 at 13:54 #1262018I was on Signs Of Blessing, but unfortunately he didn’t make it to post.
I”m hoping that MAGICAL MEMORY can maybe recoup some
of the ante post I lost. He was 3rd in this last year, less than a length
behind Twilight Son. He ran a similar kind of race in the Diamond Jubilee
Stakes at Ascot behind Twilight Son, again beaten a shd, hd, and a neck,
it was the kind of race that any of the 1st four could have won with a touch
of luck. You can forget his last race in the July Cup, I’m a big fan of Dettori,
but frankly, Frankie ran a pig of a race. This is going to be close again, probably with the first few separated by
a fag paper. At the odds, I think the 10/1 on MM is worth taking, and I have.
Good luck all
September 3, 2016 at 14:18 #1262021Nobody took the 1/8 for Limato non runner, shame. Still not been confirmed, hopefully his price will drift a bit more before it happens.
September 3, 2016 at 14:37 #1262026Limato is out.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
September 3, 2016 at 14:48 #1262029I’m not sure how soft QR wants it so its more of a fingers crossed selection than a bullish one. I hate saturday’s where I hardly fancy one. Two bets today compared to the 9 I’ve had during the week is somewhat frustrating.
Donjuan would be suited to conditions but I would be concerned by his Royal Ascot performance in group 1 company.
Plenty of big priced winners of this race in the past.September 3, 2016 at 16:14 #1262043I’m not sure how soft QR wants it so its more of a fingers crossed selection than a bullish one. Plenty of big priced winners of this race in the past.I didn’t think much of Donjuan Triumphant at Ascot but it wasn’t until about this time last year that his form started to take off and the hope is that it happens again.
It’s a tough race to be ultra confident about in the conditions.
I’ve got 20/1 about an 8/1 shot but that’s always the easy part with ante-post. Getting the buggers to win is a different story.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
September 3, 2016 at 16:50 #1262050A one horse race from a long way out. Quiet Reflection has probably improved again for the break and I doubt even Limato would have beaten her today.
Donjuan was always in the rear and I never had a prayer of getting a place.
Dancing Star was another big disappointment but I felt group 1 from handicap was always too big a leap in one sitting and Andrew Balding has also drifted out of his good form last month. The Ayr Gold Cup was surely the race for her.
Magical Memory seemed to go wrong, I hope he is OK.
Very respectable effort from The Tin Man. I managed to back him on his worst showing of the year and this was much better than his last winning effort, albeit it was only for second today.
If there is a new Lochsong in town it is Quiet Reflection, rather than Dancing Star.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
September 3, 2016 at 17:07 #1262052Did the men in the white coats let you out of your straight jacket MoyenneCorniche..?
Great run in 4th for Mehronissa.I was delighted with Quiet Reflection, have they said where she goes next? hopefully Champions Day sprint I took 14’s back along for that. She’s such a bridle horse but finds aswell, a dream ride for Dougie.

September 3, 2016 at 17:44 #1262055The only thing you can do after watching a horse win as comfortably as that is regret not putting more on. Very nice horse.

Great run in 4th for Mehronissa.Conditional discharge!

Ran an absolute screamer, not enough to get me paid of course, but a screamer nonetheless.
QR very impressive,well done winners.
September 3, 2016 at 19:07 #1262059A puzzling effort from Donjuan Triumphant in terms of his proximity to today’s winner.
The first time they met this season, it was 3 and a bit lengths between them, then at Ascot, when Fahey’s horse was disappointing, it was 5 and a bit lengths.
Today Fahey’s horse has run more than 15 lengths distant, on ground that should have suited and was said to have excited the owners in terms of how he might perform.
On a direct read of Donjuan Triumphant in his group 1 second last time, Signs Of Blessing wouldn’t have had a prayer today. The Racing Post gave Donjuan Triumphant 75 for his effort today, 42 lbs behind their rating of 117 for him at his peak. That’s pathetic really.
Dancing Star was listed by the RPR as running 29 lbs below her best today.
Quiet Reflection was deemed to have improved 5lbs, while The Tin Man was listed as 1 lb short of his best.
According to RPR data, Suedois managed 3rd despite being 8lbs below his best and Mehronissa ran her “screamer” despite being 3 lbs below her best.
Basically Quiet Reflection improved and nothing else matched their rating, The Tin Man coming closest.
In the aftermath I backed Quiet Reflection for the Champion Sprint at 6/1. She should get something like her ground and Mecca’s Angel is probably best at 5F. The rest of them look “Tom Tit” in comparison to be honest.

Ascot I would imagine would also be a tough 6f for Mecca’s Angel as it’s an uphill finish.
I’d bite a brick in half to have odds against Quiet Reflection against Mecca’s Angel that day.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
September 3, 2016 at 22:08 #1262067She looked a bit special, it was never in any doubt. Well done Nathan, you
must have been counting your money with 3 furlongs to go
It was obvious after a couple of furlongs that all was not well with Magical
Memory. It was disappointing, but as long as he is OK I’ll be happy enough.I hope she (QR) makes it to the Champions Sprint Stakes, 14/1 looks HUGE now, best
priced 6s. Good luck with that one
