I know it’s between the top two but couldn’t resist an ew on Mystical Power
November 30, 2025 at 14:44 #1746247Townend managed to find every bit of trouble in running on Ballyburn by getting hemmed in countless times and he really should have won that race pretty comfortably.
Think he will be staying over hurdles for sure now.
November 30, 2025 at 14:45 #1746248Not Townends finest moment. What on earth was he doing allowing Elliots horses to box him in. A cracking ride from Kennedy but the World Hurdle winner finished 2nd.
I’m on at 5s for March but Townend downed the last leg of my treble today.
November 30, 2025 at 14:45 #1746249I think the hemming was deliberate, can’t afford to have him tanking along if he is going to be a 3 mile hurdler.
November 30, 2025 at 14:48 #1746250That should hopefully tee up Ballyburn nicely for his 3 mile hurdle campaign for the rest of the season. Townend overcomplicated it a bit today on his first run back by not giving the horse much room.
November 30, 2025 at 14:48 #1746251I’d like to see that photo, thought Ballyburn had got it. Don’t know how he didn’t trip himself up on the way round, his head was soooo low.
Much better run from Mystical Power.November 30, 2025 at 14:55 #1746252green, he demolished Jimmy Du Seuil over 2m5f at Cheltenham 2 years ago. He had no need to mess about so much today. Not a completely dreadful ride but still should’ve won.
Teahupoo was fully ready today as Elliot knows the World Hurdle is a different ball game this season.
Ballyburn is an absolute beast and will demolish the World Hurdle field if he doesn’t fall.
They should try feeding him before a race though as he really does appear to want that grass lol.

November 30, 2025 at 16:02 #1746267I didn’t like Ballyburn’s head carriage in the early stages of the race. It seems to have become even more pronounced.
It was a great race but I tend to agree that Ballyburn should have won.
I disagree with Donn McLean on RTV. To my mind, today’s distance is an absolute minimum for Ballyburn. His best performance last year was at the DRF. He looks certain to improve for a step up in distance.
Based on today’s effort, it is no surprise to see him favourite for the Stayers. He is a bit of an enigma but he will be difficult to beat if he puts it altogether.
Incredible to think Mullins was training him to be an Arkle horse this time last year!
November 30, 2025 at 16:29 #1746272Cork, as good as Willy is, he doesn’t half make some weird decisions occasionally.
How he persisted with sending Gaelic Warrior to Leopardstown when there were races available at Punchestown, Limerick, Kempton, Ascot etc is beyond me.
Absolute criminal that he was pulled from the King George last season. He was the biggest certainty since Kauto Star.
It’s so clear that he’s at least 10lb better going right handed and absolutely detests Leopardstown in particular. He only won a handicap hurdle there once as he was about 20lb better than the rest of the field. - AuthorPosts
