Anabaa’s Creation’s Jockey, Tyler Baze’s post race comment after being pipped by Zenyatta:

"She ran her fanny off," he said. "We got beat by a champion. I didn’t know where she was but I knew she was coming. She came and got us."

    Her what off ?!!!

Can you imagine Johnny Murtagh or heaven forbid, Ryan Moore, getting away with saying that on the Beeb.

She ran her fanny off… I knew she was coming? Would love to hear what Francome would say about those remarks

Could you see her actually catching Rachel running like that. It’s fine to say she wasn’t puting it in but the fact is she didn’t.

I was going to back her AP but my worrry is Murtagh would kick real early and steal a match on her……..but would RVW see it the trip if they did that?

I suppose you have to forgive her once as they can’t be at the top of their game everytime but that was scary.

    Hi All~
Zenyatta is 17.2…She is over 17 now. On Sunday for the Clement Hirsch I heard someone mention it on the broadcast. SHE IS HUGE! I had a good friend who went to the races that day and her presence in person is even more incredible to witness. Her prancing and walking before the race is something to behold. She steps very high and deliberate almost like a Walking Horse. She is an amazing anaimal to behold and I cannot wait to see her at the Breeder’s Cup. Last year she was similar but this year her pre-race attitude and behavior are truly amazing to watch. It gives you goosebumps!

I can’t imagine what it’s like to see her run; it’s awesome watching it on utube. There’s one where they have a camera on board so you know what it’s like to be riding her at work! Great stuff.

    Moehat,
She is INCREDIBLE in person and watchin gher run is simply breathtaking. She gets a lot of criticism from so many here in the U.S. because she has stayed in California but I say why shouldn’t she? She is the Queen Bee here so all challengers SHOULD have to come and play in her yard. Trouble is that the synthetic battle between the East and the West is a never ending argument. In fact, now there is a whole new argument as to WHO is better…Zenyatta or Rachel Alexandra. I say WHY COMPARE? Let’s just enjoy both these amazing girls while we have them running because before too long they’ll both be spirited off to the breeding shed to try and replicate themselves through their babies!

The biggest argument now is which one should be Horse of the Year. SOme say Gio Ponti may just sneak in and steal if from both of them…especially if he keeps up his winning streak like he has.

P.S.~ YES! The one where they have the camera mounted on board is Mike Smith working her out…that is amazing…her speed and determination to run down anythingin front of her is incredible to behold for sure. Let’s just hope that I can get some GREAT shots (hubby bought me a fancy camera for my bday so I am better equipped this year) of her. Last year we found a sneaky little spot away from the HUGE paddock crowds where we got to see them walking to the saddling paddock and we managed to get some good ones. Hopefully this year no one will have discovered our secret spot so we can muscle in there and get snap happy! LOL! I have several friends from all over the country coming as well and so I am sure we have the bases covered when it comes to getting pictures of Z!! The waiting now is just the HARDEST part! Do you know if anyone here is planning on attending??
    :D
