Pulled up in the 2.30 at Newton Abbot. Racing Post says “fatal” but no indication whether injured or collapsed. R.I.P.
June 25, 2024 at 19:25 #1699945Heart attack apparently. If it was as hot and humid there as it was here I think we should count ourselves lucky that there weren’t more.
June 25, 2024 at 19:54 #1699950I saw the race on ATR, and noticed the screens up just on the last bend as the camera paned back. Very sad news for the connections.
Raises the question about racing in hot weather, Last year the Hong Kong Jockey club started doing twilight fixtures. Obviously their temps and humidity are a bit higher, but food for thought about moving Jump racing to later in the day when its a little cooler when the temps are over 20C..June 25, 2024 at 21:12 #1699957Having watched the race why the hell did Jack Tudor feel it necessary to give the mare 2 cracks with the pro cush/whip when she had done her running & had fallen way behind 😡. At times I do question jockeys actions RIP Happy Helen 😥
June 27, 2024 at 18:02 #1700072Jump racing should have a summer break like it used to back in the day. RIP.
