    Classic 40/1

Hoping rather than expecting he can be the 3y/o I thought he may despite a poor 2 y/o campaign a entry here is encouraging

Chaldean is not a bad price at odds on. I’d be having a play if he goes odds against

I always like a bigger bet on The Greenham, and this year it’s went the way of Zoology at 14-1

Zoology form had a nice boost with Covey cantering to victory at Newmarket earlier in the week

Chaldean apparently 85/90% according to the racing manager.

Chaldean has a significant advantage on anything shown to date. For each-way value I’ll plump for Charyn 16/1 3 places 1/5, progressive last season, should stay and has won on the ground.

Plumped for Grey’s Monument 28s (BOG).

The ground at Newbury is springing surprises, 18/1 winner just now (not mine). I had Jack Channon’s yday at 66s, absolutely destroyed the field.

    More surprises today one suspects.

Not sure that ground today will suit Chaldean, as it looks very hard work (first race a G3 was 14.07s slower than standard) and will find out horses short on fitness – the ground was officially soft at Doncaster but the time was just under 3.91s slower than standard, which suggested closer to good to soft.

Theoryofeverything won on proper soft ground (time 10.52s slower than standard) at Doncaster a couple of weeks ago and whilst very short on experience will be race fit as only him and Zoology in the field have run this season.

Nice racecourse gallop for chaldean

Really didn’t look like he jinked anywhere near badly enough for frankie to fall off but would need to see replays

Chaldean looked like he enjoyed it.

Not sure I would be asking for Mr Dettori’s autograph any time soon.

Horse next to him came over marginally but Frankie looked like he was already coming off at that point anyway…..file that in the same draw as the blinker incident and something that Frankie will likely need to atone for.

I guess the only thing you can take out of it was that he had a relatively easy racecourse gallop without being put under pressure.

Frankie said the bump caused him to fall off.
