It wouldn’t be too surprising to see Francois and Thierry Doumen bring a whole boatload of their respective aspirants over at some point in the next few weeks, with Kasbah Bliss and Grand Schelm foremost among the consignment.
Naming the date and venue at this remove defeats me just now, though.

January 2, 2009 at 12:48 #200986Thierry brought a few over last weekened Jeremy – including Inthejungle and a horse to run in the Bumper at Kempton.
Expect there’ll be a few coming over and maybe with the winner of Kempton’s big novice chase being a poor enough French horse they’ll send some more over

Apropos of Original (for it is he), can anyone confirm whether he is as huge as I’ve heard he is? One associate of mine insists that the gelding stands 18.2hh high, which sounds almost too incredible to be true.

January 2, 2009 at 14:44 #201009Don’t know his height for sure – but huge is an understatement. No idea why they were running him in hurdles at Auteuil – would dwarf most of their fences.

He is enormous… Even on the TV it is visibly noticeable. He jumps fences like hurdles.
February 24, 2009 at 05:06 #212033Not news as such but Grand Schlem was last seen at Enghien 25/4/08 in a decent 4yo Hurdle race.
He’s not so much as been entered since then but will keep an eye out ith the new Paris jumping season starting tommorow.
