    Thanks Mike,

Put them in a 4 fold with the 320 and 355 @ Chelmsford – Soft Whisper and Above. Soft Whisper just won, so cashed out and whacked half the profit on Above so I won’t know yet how I’ll feel if it does go on to win.

Alpinista was wow, I enjoyed that. The German Derby was a bit mental, no idea where the line was.

“Dodgy Going descriptions and race distances, standard times that get broken in the “mud”

Winning time was 4.15 seconds FASTER than standard.

German racing officials apparently forgot they had 20 runners. Also, the first two jockeys received hefty whip bans and lost 50% of their prize-money shares. Start delayed for about 25 minutes…..

Well done winners, especially Alpinista who should be a clear Arc favourite

Aiden must be kicking himself for not running broome. Must have gone very close though hurricane lane shows backing up quickly doesnt always work.

At least we now have an explanation for Hurricane Lane’s terrible run:

Appleby said of last year’s Irish Derby and St Leger winner: “Unfortunately it was documented it was soft ground [in France]. We knew it wasn’t going to be soft but in the morning my lads walked it and said it was good ground. By the time racing had started it was good to firm and William [Buick] said even going to post he wasn’t enjoying it. Most importantly he’s come out of it fine.

“It’s a very simple rule now, we’ll be waiting for soft ground and when that appears you’ll start to see Hurricane Lane back out and hopefully at his best again.”

Bearing in mind that the official going description was given as good to soft, the race was run in a time 4.15s faster than standard so clearly racing on good to firm so very much inclined to believe Appleby as his two most disapointing runs (were his last two) which coincided with the ground being good to firm – hopefully the usually wet Autumn will see the ground turn in his favour.
