Eurotrek for me. (I need to win back last years losses on him!)

No in all seriousness, Eurotrek is only going to have one more race this season. I heard the Gold Cup was considered but the Grand National seems much the better option. It has the class to win it and is proven over the fences (in fact it knew the way round better than his jockey did last time!). I don’t think stamina would be a problem either. If it gets there fresh and puts in a clear round I would be extremely surprised if it wasn’t in the first 4.

Obviously the weights will be all important. Numbersix is sure to go well again. Ive been following Kilbeggan Blade all season and he owes me nowt. He’s a good jumper and stays very well.

theres a few that interest me, not that i would back any yet
celtic son, if he went straight for the race and didnt run at all before the day he is well handicaped, and only seems to run a good race first time out!
i think monkerhostin has the class, and although he isnt good enough over 3 miles anymore, he keeps on galloping, and jumps
his stable mate lacdoudal would love the challenge imo, but his owner isnt keen
liberthine is another who could run well for e/w money, she is being aimed at it

I have backed Puntal @ 66/1. Only anti-post bet of the year. Liked the way he ran last year and think he may be better this year. Worth an each way.

Anybody fancy drawing up their own version of the long handicap? Go on ~ you know you want to  Identifying the likeliy non runners towards the top of the weights and so unveiling those in the 10 stone to ten stone 12 bracket is the key exercise.

Agree with you FSL, the key to him is being fresh. I was at Warwick last year for the Totesport classic chase. He hacked up there and will certainly stay at Aintree.

How fresh he is come April will be the issue, he doesn’t take much racing at all. He must be so frustrating to train, he has so much ability but can’t handle much racing at all.

Kevin, good shout with Puntal. usually jumps well and stays all day. Got good value with 66’s.

Ive been telling myself for the last two years im never gonna have a bet in it but i usually end up having three. My record in it is terrible. Only had two winners ever: Bobbyjo and Monty’s Pass.

Id like to think Bewley’s Berry could go well having jumped these fences well before and looked close to top class as a novice.

Would love to see Sir Rembrandt do well and tbhis race should be made for him really.

A glance through the entries suggests that the biggest waste of an entry fee has to be Armaturk.

Surely the most likely winner is Lord of Illusion

God, is that the one you told us to lump on last year? Come to think of it, if your confidence is undiminished why don’t you give us all a free bet on it to make amends for last year?

Bewleys Berry for me – should have a nice weight and most importantly his style of jumping (slow & careful!!!) suits the National fences well. He’ll also stay all day & is genuine.

Preacher Boy looks like the sort of unexposed stayer that should improve for a stiff test. Trainer thinks he’s better on decent ground too but I remember Galjade saying he was lame after Sandown so if you are reading this Galjade, is there any update on his condition?
Far From Trouble would be the other one that looks of interest. Couple of good staying efforts in the 4miler at Cheltenham last year and looked likely to be involved in the finish of the Irish National till he came down 6 out. Made amends over a trip that looked sharp enough for him in the Galway Plate. He’s not been out since, presumably to protect his mark because if he wasn’t on target for the race he’d be bigger than 22’s on betfair right now.
Surely not someone else that loves this horse as much as me. I think ive tipped him in at least 90% of his starts, i lost plenty in the RSA chase last year, id convinced myself he was a ‘good thing’ lol
