I removed the post VF. A site said last week it was tonight, but I don’t see it in the TV schedules.

Final list for me. Famous last words.

Re-added Stattler, and happy to do so, just made sense to wait until he’s declared. Haven’t topped up Galvin, and I’ll stick with what I’ve got. Got a few quid back for Ontheropes being balloted out, and I’ve put that way of Janidil, as much as I’m
aware of how daft that pick sounds. Janidil, Stattler and Roi Mage my main hopes

Still mad keen on Meetingofthewaters, proper notebook horse this year, but I just missed the price, and rather have a bit of interest with this motley crew

Been messy this year, but actually happy with amount on, having hit my limit three weeks back, managed to trim it ok

    Galvin 50’s (Laid Stake)
    Janidil 150’s EW7Pls/280’s
    Roi Mage 80’s EW5pls NRNB
    Stattler 70’s
    The Goffer 66’s EW5Pls

I’ve not looked at this too deeply, as I felt that I could change my mind over and over.

Run Wild Fred at 80-1, and Delta Work at 33-1 are my chief hopes.

Limerick Lace was going to be my third, but that was when she was 25-1. I’m not betting her at 10-1, so I’ve taken 28-1 Galia Des Liteaux

For anyone still not decided and wanting a bit of help or just if you fancied reading it the National is the ‘free race’ on Timeform today so you can see all the bits on there for all the horses in the race for free, not sure if you need an account or not I have one but not subscribed to anything so you might just need to register for a free account if you can’t see it on there.

Anyone at or near the course who can say how much rain they’ve had?

Sounds like its drying out a lot from where it was earlier in the week if the BHA site is anything to go off. Soft, good-soft in places as of an hour ago. Hasn’t been updated on turftrax which is strange

To be fair they’ve done a cracking job with the course this week I was really concerned on Wednesday it would be like one of the meetings earlier in the year where nothing finished and it was horrible viewing but from the comfort of my TV and sofa its looked okay and mainly horses finishing out their races. Well done to all concerned as they’ve had some tricky weather to navigate.

I’ve been keen on Chemical Energy for this all year, haven’t backed him until now because I didn’t think he’d show unless the ground was ok and there are a fair few negatives not least being ridden by the claimer who can’t claim but he’s a decent jock in his own right so we won’t hold that against him too much, I’d still rather him than a David Maxwell and even Patrick Mullins to be honest. Ran a big race in the NH Chase and he did ok in the Irish National too considering it came quite soon after a tough race at Cheltenham. I think he’s on the right side of the handicapper at least but maybe this won’t be his gig and it’ll be something less testing on better ground at some stage. Mindful of those showers but there’s enough encouragement in the latest going to get involved at 50s.

Kids have gone for Mr Incredible and Mahler Mission. Silks based selections, eldest has deserted Corach Rambler, seems she’s more of a blue than a purple fan this year. Wife has chosen Panda Boy on name, always likely to be a popular pick with the animal theme. On that note strong chance Maximus goes off fav on the basis people who back Willie/Townend blind will go there, McManus, he’s obviously got a chance anyway, he’s got Max in his name, Gladiator/Russell Crowe fans etc. You have to love this race, Run Wild Fred should probably be 500/1 on his form but he’s got Fred in his name so he’s always likely to trade shorter. Good luck to everyone.

Corach Rambler out to 17/2 and this big enough for me. No further words needed why he has a big chance. Also added Mr. Incredible, he ran a good race here last year until his saddle slipped. Only ran in the Midlands National this year and finished a close second here, staying on in the end. And finally another Willie Mullins runner with Stattler. Only a 9 year old and if he back to his level from his 2022/2023 season he is in the mix here. His best ever performance was over 3m6f.

    Corach Rambler 17/2
    Mr. Incredible 16/1 EW
    Stattler 40/1 EW

Run Wild Fred is out, so now down to a 32 runner National.

This could be a very slippery slope.

I fear you are right, Peter.

Kitty’s Light for me, particularly now the ground is drying. EW on Galvin and Roi Mage.

I’ve never been as confident about a runner in The National as I am with Kitty’s Light. I’ve had a big bet

    Galvin is my back up
