“Are we expecting Meetingofthewaters to get in? 38 on the list just now.”
I am.
March 18, 2024 at 12:08 #1687238I can identify 9/10 that will likely come out between now and the off. There are still half a dozen or so who aren’t qualified, a couple that will probably go to Fairyhouse instead, and a few whose Cheltenham performances will make connections think twice.
March 18, 2024 at 12:14 #1687239The fairy house race is April Fool’s day and this is just over 2 weeks later, technically enough time to do both.
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.March 18, 2024 at 12:24 #1687243“The fairy house race is April Fool’s day and this is just over 2 weeks later, technically enough time to do both.”
Being just 12 days apart, I don’t see many, if any, horses who cover a decent distance in the Irish version running in the English version. And if they do, I give them no chance.
March 18, 2024 at 13:03 #1687249“How had Delta work dropped 1 never ran”
I did say on page 13 of this thread:
“It will be interesting to see if Delta Work can come back to form in the X country. If not then I can see Timeform dropping his rating”.
Ok, the race was abandoned, but fact is Delta Work has not shown his form since last year’s Cheltenham Festival X-Country and reportedly finished lame in the X-Country handicap in November. The fact he’s 11 years old suggests he is on the downgrade now… And Timeform probably wanted to keep the rating as it was before Cheltenham because he was going for a third win in that race. ie Possible he was being given a less taxing campaign for the Festival race. He also seems to be a X-Country specialist. His first win – beating Tiger Roll actually made Delta Work very “well in” for the 2022 Grand National… And although finished 3rd did not do as well as I expected. imo reserves his very best over those X-Country fences.
Presumably Timeform now believes Delta Work is less likely to run to that 182 rating. Or just reassessed the form and marked him down. Personally, if I were doing the ratings I’d have him a lot lower but with a “+”.

Irish National weights out too. Of note Willie Mullins has indicated that Bronn and Stattler are likely to go there.

March 19, 2024 at 15:44 #1687404Not really sure why I’m looking just now, as my bet on The Goffer stopping me from doing anything else, but a few catching the eye at bigger prices………all 66’s NRNB
James Du Berlais
Roi Mage
Mac Tottie
Janidil
Foxy Jacks………and my old pal Delta Work at 33’s
I have topped up Empire Steel, but at this stage, main focus remains on Galvin, and Stattler (even though apparently Irish bound), having cooled just a wee bit on The Goffer
First time in many years, I’m not really focussing particularly strongly on one at this stage
Edit…………added Ontheropes
Empire Steel 410’s
Galvin 50’s
Ontheropes 800’s
Stattler 100’s
The Goffer 66’s EW 5PlsMarch 19, 2024 at 16:13 #1687417Taken from an article on the Sporting Life and Racing TV websites:
“Regarding his other entries, Mullins said: “This race comes into play for Stattler now, if he’d run at Cheltenham (Cross Country Chase was abandoned) he would maybe have gone to Aintree, but he’s now in the running to run here.
“Monkfish was disappointing at Cheltenham so wouldn’t come here, Mr Incredible only ran the other day so it’s too close, the same with Adamantly Chosen. Embassy Gardens and James Du Berlais the same.
“Bronn was disappointing in Naas, but if I could get him back right he could go there. Minella Cocooner has run well there, has the credentials, stays all day and has a nice weight as well.
“Ontheropes is 36 (on the ballot) but I think he is more or less in and is our other likely runner.”
March 19, 2024 at 16:21 #1687419Thanks for that Peter, means I can hold fire with Ontheropes for Fairyhouse. I’d already bet him for this earlier in the season, but cashed out when I reined it in a bit.
Just took a few quid on him on the exchanges, just in case, and updated previous post…………realise it can all change though
March 19, 2024 at 18:58 #1687444Thanks for that Peter

March 19, 2024 at 19:02 #1687446I’ve had a couple of NRNB punts on Chemical Energy (25-1) and Galia Des Liteaux (50-1). The former would want decent ground and the latter would want the opposite.
