March 12, 2024 at 12:23 #1684800Added Meetingofthewaters 20s ew 5 places for now.
March 12, 2024 at 15:54 #1684951Quite an eyecatching run from Meetingofthewaters in the Ultima I thought, seemed to tank into it and then stayed on again after the pace had lifted/hit a bit of a flat at the wrong time then stayed on up the hill. The other one was Kittys Light plugging on late minus the pieces and on ground which would be much too soft/trip too sharp. Suspect it might end up being the Scottish National again for Kittys if the ground is no good at Aintree.
March 12, 2024 at 22:04 #1685108Hope ground comes up better for the national for kitty’s light he ran well today in as you say ground he hates

March 13, 2024 at 09:20 #1685221Talking of ground he hates yesterday, it’s a shame Twig isn’t in the National., At 9, this would have been his chance.
March 15, 2024 at 09:41 #1686203My ew team…
Kitty’s Light 40-1
I Am Maximus 12-1 nrnb. 5 places.
Vanillier 14-1. 5 places.
Panda Boy 20-1. 5 places.
Meetingofthewaters 20-1. 5 places.
…………………………………………………….
Monbeg Genius 20-1 free bet (hard to fancy)March 15, 2024 at 16:55 #1686486Corach is very well handicapped now, but a hard race on heavy ground takes longer for most horses to get over. Albeit Corach does seem to get over Cheltenham quicker than most in the past. If I was not already on at bigger prices I wouldn’t be taking his current price just in case.
Anyone hear what Mullins said after the Ultima about Meetingofthewaves going to Aintree?

He was thinking Aintree before the race i doubt he’s changed his mind post race.
March 15, 2024 at 18:20 #1686552I’ve Galvin and Stattler going there fresh now thanks to no x country ….might well be a godsend
March 15, 2024 at 20:32 #1686616That’s what I thought, Mike.
I just don’t understand why Meetingofthewaves is not a clear second favourite.Taken the 16/1.
Value Is EverythingMarch 15, 2024 at 21:42 #1686664The one thing that might stand Corach in good stead is he’s had no racing at all since Haydock and they did similar last year after the Hennessy. There’s quite a lot of recent precedent for going close after running big in the Gold Cup, Noble Yeats 4th, Anibale Fly 4th and 5th, Many Clouds won it after being 6th in the Gold Cup. They were all carrying big weights in the National whereas as I’ve already alluded to elsewhere if Hewick runs then Corach is 10lbs below top weight. That’s probably more a reflection of how small a chance Hewick has than anything else, and it would still be about how well handicapped Corach is relative to everyone else but after today he’s probably going there at least 7lbs well in you’d have thought and he may not have stopped improving.
Another aspect to Hewick’s big mark is that horses like Meetingofthewaters would be close to bottom weight so that tells you had big a task he has on his plate.
March 15, 2024 at 21:45 #1686666Grittar was sixth in the Gold Cup the year he won the Grand National.
7/1 NRNB with Hills cannot possibly last – punters are asking for that, all in, run or not, on the machine and he’s 6/1 and 5/1 with the other books.
Got a touch of the Red Rum/Tiger Roll about him and I could see him going off about 9/2 fav on the day.
