Plenty of interest here, especially the ante post favourite Libberty Hunter. I suspect he might be aimed at the Champion Chase, however, so there is that to take into consideration.
My early pick is Helnwein. His trainer likes to aim a good novice at the Festival handicaps, and this horse has not been seen to best effect in small-field novice chases on testing ground this winter. A strongly-run, big-field handicap over a stiff two miles suited him down to the ground at Sandown in April and I can see a similar story unfolding here.
Helnwein 25-1 e/w 4 places
March 5, 2025 at 12:18 #1721925Editeur Du Gite has been retired, so a bullet dodged there.
Doesn’t change the fact though, that’s it’s my worst race of the year, but I’ll go with one that I’d probably cover if he went, Midnight It Is. I’d prefer him for this over The Plate. Very hard horse to second guess, but if he goes here, I think he’d be competitive, which I can’t usually say in this race
Also giving a serious look at My Mate Mozzie

March 9, 2025 at 16:29 #1722295I thought I had already posted in here but haven’t. I’ve backed Unexpected Party at 9s (7s now so hopefully nobody will be enraged enough to report this post for aftertiming!) and he’s a strong fancy.
March 9, 2025 at 19:09 #1722305Couldn’t resist a big price on Third Time Lucki. Didn’t finish his races so far this season, but if he is fit he can be dangerous on 134. A big field should suit him and hopefully he can run into the top 5.
Third Time Lucky 66/1 EW (5 places)

March 12, 2025 at 01:09 #1722922So Scottish 8/1 – Really didn’t like this race but it’s Chelts so you DO HAVE TO have a bet, its the rules. Wind Surgery could have a positive impact. Meow.

March 12, 2025 at 12:27 #1723025Lumbered with top weight but a class horse, JPR One.
The more I know the less I understand.
March 12, 2025 at 14:38 #17230923 pops at this , JPR is to he class act as RTB says , American Mike is one to and if he shows his best is a big danger , handicap wise Third Time Lucki has a decent chance of a place , he ran a cracker in this previously off 15lbs higher
