Should have won on Pastoral Player, travelled like the winner thoroughout but completely miss timed his challenge and failed to get up. Also got a little blocked in with the width of Haydock to go down.
Poor rideJune 8, 2013 at 14:48 #442195I had a good sized bet on Pastoral Player NI, and immediately afterwards thought the same. But we know he needs to be held up and (as you say) did not get the best of passage. Without the interference he would’ve won. So although in hindsight it is a shame Lee did not start a run a little sooner, that’s hindsight for you. I don’t think it was a "poor ride", just one of those things.

I didn’t back it so no doubt my view is less coloured (I’d probably have been spitting feathers if I had in all honesty.) but I thought it more an unlucky ride than poor one.
Graham himself seemed to think he’d made a gaff though to be fair.
It definitely looked the winner.
Hard luck chaps, commiserations.
June 8, 2013 at 16:40 #442202I saw it differently tbh – didn’t travel as well as the winner, which is the reason he ended up with so much to do. Also took long enough to actually pick up and start closing in.
