Well done Jungle Boogie winners. Still a horse worth following at times.

WD winners (I backed him as well :) )

Mainly because VtC always brings up Jungle Boogie if there is a remote chance he will run. Nice to see your patience getting rewarded VtC!

As VTC will testify, I have been a big Jungle Boogie fan for years now, and I was there to see him in action at Ascot today.

He’s such a smashing looker and covers a lot of ground; it really is a case of “what might have been” had he remained sound throughout his career.

Despite his advancing years, he’s only had seven lifetime starts, so it’s not as though there are plenty of miles in those legs. I’m hopeful he can pick up a Grade One over two and a half miles, either in the Ryanair or the Melling Chase.

Connections have suggested he might return to Ascot in February and he’ll be the one to beat there, although against Grade One horses he’ll have to jump straighter than he did today.

Jungle Boogie did me a favour yesterday, I too love the horse but “the one to beat” Glad’. Can’t see that. The race fell apart. Short priced fav hampered and falling at the first… Which in turn made James his greatest rival – ruined his chance by taking a very strong hold. So Jungle Boogie didn’t have a lot to beat in the end. Himself had the run of the race, dictating but even though seemed to enjoy his jumping went out to his left at a lot of them. Credit for a performance at least as good as he’s put up before… But not much (if anything) better. If going back to Ascot in February yes, he’ll probably need to jump a lot straighter and also may be taken on up front too. However, I do agree Jungle Boogie has potential to progress a bit further – despite his age – maybe going back left-handed might bring some improvement. Although the Ryanair and Melling will need a better performance to win than the Ascot race.

I’d have thought the Webster Cup is Jungle Boogie’s best chance of Grade 2+ glory, as that is the only left-handed Grade 2 chase in Ireland or Britain I can find. Trouble is that race comes in early March. So I doubt a lightly raced horse who does so well fresh would be able to do both Navan and Cheltenham.
