Spot on, Jac. If the date and time of the photograph matches the date and time of that horse’s demise, we would know a lot more.
But, maybe it was transmitted later from one phone to another just for fun. And now the recipient of this transmitted photograph goes public with it….
We should find out shortly. They won’t wait another 2-3 days until a final statement is released.Thing is, if it is a horse that was in his yard and died on his gallops, there’s a reasonable chance his mobile signal will place him right there anyway. Even if he wasn’t originally in the photo.
The Racing Post article says “The image, posted from an account unconnected to the Grand National and Gold Cup-winning trainer”.
If it isn’t connected to the trainer’s account then it must be fake surely?
Interestingly, the same news story elsewhere such as the Sporting life and Attheraces don’t say it’s an unconnected account, so not sure why Racing Post have said it unless they know something the others don’t.
A strange looking elbow
That Gordon Elliott photo looks fake to me. His left elbow is squared off and there appears to me to be a pretty straight line straight down that section of the photo, which is aligned with the cut off elbow. pic.twitter.com/JU5y61Xbir

I have no doubt now the picture is a fake. But it will not stop racing’s enemies from believing it is real.
The two fingers making the v sign look a bit weird as well, as in too long. The other hand also looks a bit strange cause other images show him to have quite stubby fingers

Agreed Botchy, looking at images of Gordon Elliot he tends to favour using his left hand for his mobile and doing the victory salute with his right.
The Image looks like it could possibly be in reverse like a mirror image.Closer look at those fingers..

JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...I think this is most likely to be a fake for all the reasons Botchy and others have said. Has Elliott come out and out and out denied it though, bit surprising if he hasn’t.
Value Is EverythingIf he is co-operating with a formal enquiry he might not be able to make a public statement.
Given how remarkably clever forensic science is nowadays I can’t believe it’s beyond the capabilities of someone proficient in analysing photos to determine whether it’s been photoshopped or not
It’s a thoroughly obnoxious photo: either the concoction of a sick mind with a grievance or the click of a shutter by a sick man of a sick man
