If you abuse children and are convicted then you should never ever be able to work with children.
If you abuse horses (dead or alive) then you should never ever be able to work with horses.
Get the sick ******* to **** and don’t let him back.
March 3, 2021 at 11:37 #1526878Erase the mans name from sporting history as well.
Never associate the name Tiger Roll etc with this Sad excuse for a human being.March 3, 2021 at 11:55 #1526881The Referrals Committee don’t meet until Friday to discuss Gordon Elliott’s fate. A caller to RTE this morning suggested it might be easier on the man if he handed his license in now. I think that for his wellbeing, his future prospects, and for the sport, that’s a good idea.
March 3, 2021 at 11:59 #1526882After Elliott has served his likely ban, I think some owners will still send horses to him. Because he gets winners at Cheltenham and it is only human nature to think there will be some amoral owners out there to whom having winners is all that matters. Not saying it is right or I approve of it but I think it is mistaken to think that everyone is going to shun him like a leper.
March 3, 2021 at 12:03 #1526883Give him the Pfizer jab and get it over and done with.
March 3, 2021 at 12:06 #1526884March 3, 2021 at 12:29 #1526886I miss the old Internet forum days when you could get super stoned and talk some crazy stuff without people bashing you for it as though you’d carried out some sort of witch trial. Was literally having a grand old time playing inspector morse last night, not like me or any others were attacking Elliot on twitter over any of this. We were merely theorising.
Love you all either way!
March 3, 2021 at 12:36 #1526887What’s on today’s agenda then? Who’s up for going after that twitter account I’d they fail to produce any evidence?
March 3, 2021 at 12:37 #1526890Strawbear and Mike (betlarge) thank you. You have both summed it up perfectly and there really is no more to say.
I still can’t get that awful image out of my head and probably never will and if he is allowed to carry on and attend Festivals once more that image will return again and again like the bombing in Hyde Park and the loss of those poor soldiers and their horses that image was the saddest and most horrific I had ever seen being young and never having seen a dead horse before. All those horses involved were treated with dignity and respect in their death one in particular Sefton, who miraculously survived, captured the nations heart.
Elliott didn’t even spare a thought for the image he was about to create but now he has become that image and it will always be with him.
Shame that racing has been tarnished in this way and that there will be a certain sadness in the air at the Festival and throughout the racing community for a long time.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 3, 2021 at 12:38 #1526891Just searched for it and looks like the accounts been deleted!
March 3, 2021 at 12:56 #1526895Tank: Clints, I very much doubt that GE is the sort of person to take his own life.
I hope not mate but honestly, don’t say stuff like that. Nobody has any idea what’s in his head.
I’m Welsh and the Gary Speed suicide was the most unexpected thing ever! His career was blossoming at the time, Elliot’s is the complete opposite…
March 3, 2021 at 12:56 #1526896Good. That account was just a lot of empty threats and nasty rubbish.
March 3, 2021 at 13:13 #1526898Robbo, really? You believe what he did falls under the most serious cases of animal abuse?
Comparing him to a child abuser
Ive seen it all now, unbelievable. Some of the views on here are grim.Wasnt going to comment any further but that view of yours. Brutal.
March 3, 2021 at 13:14 #1526899I’d echo everyone’s thoughts about the disgust and sadness of seeing the picture. I’ve never owned a horse but I have enjoyed this sport for 15+ years and love animals.
It seems like he’ll receive a ban (probably for at least a year) – on Nick Luck’s podcast they mentioned a trainer being banned for 3 years after abusing live horses so I’d guess it’ll be anywhere in between 1 and 3. He’s obviously far more high profile and this has hit national media so maybe he’ll get more to stamp out any ill feeling from the general public who tolerate racing on the basis that the horses are loved.
He’s clearly risked the reputation of the sport and should be punished for it. He’s going to lose a big chunk of income. Kim Bailey charges about £20k +VAT for a year: http://www.kimbaileyracing.com/ownership/faq/
Guessing Elliott would cost more. Cheveley park took 8 horses from there!I’m guessing the ban and subsequent leaving of horses (contractually, they’ll be free to leave, if they weren’t anyway) will mean he’ll be very unlikely to be as high profile ever again.
Nobody has spoken about any concerns with his treatment of horses but it only takes a stupid decision to ruin your career (but I’d also question his empathy for animals if he’d even consider showing it that much disrespect when it’s just died)
March 3, 2021 at 13:25 #1526901The Morans showing their true colours it seems, pulling their companies (eCOMM) sponsporship from the Elliot stables yet keeping their horses in training with him for the time being. Seems they don’t have a problem with the photo, they’re just worried it could hurt their pocket.
March 3, 2021 at 13:34 #1526902Is there a possibility that somebody else could take over Elliott’s licence at his stable, allowing the remaining horses to stay and possibly run at the Festival?
March 3, 2021 at 13:46 #1526903Mike I don’t see why not, assuming that’s what the Morans and others are hoping for if he gets something like a year suspension at the hearing.
