Ginger do not forget my notebook thread has i am on the GRANDS CRUIS to win the King George to.
Gord just to say i updated my thread with a couple of more fancies for next year hope you let me know what you think and the other members can add there thoughts too.
And Gord as you know i rate this SWORD OF DESTINY very high too but unless you been talking to Michael Fish and he told you that on the thursday at Cheltenham in 2013 it be raining cats and dogs. i don’t see this horse at the festival unless the ground is very testing.
I hope i see him because i rate him high as well.March 21, 2012 at 17:51 #397969Ginger do not forget my notebook thread has i am on the GRANDS CRUIS to win the King George to.

Fury
,I’m struggling to find a danger incredibly as if this horse has benefitted from being Gelded then a return to the form that saw him win the Tattersals Million will see him win this, besides he’s a damn sight better 98 rated 4yo than his old stablemate ‘Penitent’ was when he won a couple of years ago! The Godolphin pair ‘Man of Action’ C/D winner and ‘Start Right’ could be players!
Fury
£150 e/w 10/1 Paddy Power Lincoln.
£550
March 21, 2012 at 21:50 #397996Varian started last season really well so I would rate last year’s Spring Mile victor Eton Forever as a player, but I agree if Fury puts his last few runs behind him he has a great chance of this rating.

Agree rich,
Eton Forevers
Spring Mile run was fast considering he had 9-7 on his back and his final run behind ‘Man of Action’ 3lb well in too on that run makes him a player. My opinion is based on the fact I believe a horse improves more from 3-4yo than it does from 4-5yo and
Fury
rated 5lb inferior suits me just fine! Yours has to be a major Player and possibly the biggest danger,he’s been there before!
March 22, 2012 at 07:30 #398015Well I snaffled the 14/1 on Fury with WH a few weeks ago so pretty pleased with that as I think he’ll go on any ground, but will probably back EF on the day when we know more about the ground (think he needs a sound surface).
March 22, 2012 at 09:41 #398023I’m usually up at Doncaster every week at some point and often make the effort to ‘inspect’ the course,I would be dissapointed if the ground isn’t perfectly Good this year.Last year was a bloody nightmare, the course was patchy and looked awful and i was on the 5/1fav at 20/1,(Taqleed),I went up on the day of the race and Johnny the Punters Pal Gosden pulled him out 2 hours before the race!
March 22, 2012 at 11:17 #398030I too have already backed Eton Forever EW at 12s

Roger Varian invariably has them ready to go FTO, his win in the consolation race last season was extremely good!

Oh my god Gord – does this mean you think MY horse will be even better this year?!!!

If ‘your’ horse beats
Camelot
in the Eclipse I’ll doff my cap,if he were to step up again for the King George at Ascot I’ll eat it! I just hope he doesn’t go ‘Lockinge’ ‘Queen Anne’ ‘Sussex stakes’ ‘QE2’ ‘Breeders Cup’.That would only confirm him as a Top Miler and unfortunately thats all he is at the moment Joni Old boy!
March 22, 2012 at 23:38 #398095According to Timeform, Frankel is the 3rd highest rated 3yo in their history behind Sea Bird II and Tudor Minstrel, neither of whom were kept in training. Of course it is also possible, and some might argue more probable, that Frankel may not show any improvement, such is the level that he has already reached.

Just a top miler according to our esteemed host.
Gord I am baking plate after plate of humble pie for you to eat – if you are not sick of it after last year.
The plan is Lockinge, QA/POW, Eclipse, Juddmonte and take it from there. He won’t run just over a mile but mile and a half unlikely i would have thought.
Listening to the trainer (who knows a thing or two) he WILL improve which is a frightening thought.

March 23, 2012 at 12:58 #398149Joni,I cant be right all the time,I was half right and half wrong about ‘Your’ horse last year.He did train on,(Wrong),he did win the 2000gns (Wrong) he didn’t self destruct during the season (Wrong)!
He didn’t run in the Derby (Correct),he didn’t even try 11/4m (Correct)He is a Top class Miler (Correct)! He’ll never be anymore than that because he hasn’t got the Stamina to contest the Big races, you know the ones that seperate the Men from the Boys, the good from the Great, the Great from the Champions!Derby
,
King George
and
Arc
. Even an
Eclipse
would give him a bit more credibility,C’mon Frank you can huff and puff for 2 more furlongs……But Can he?
March 23, 2012 at 17:33 #398170There are times when you have to come out fighting! My Lincoln horse
Fury
has just been headed in the betting by one of his biggest dangers,
Eton Forever
,money talks and obviously punters are going with the horse with excellent course and distance form,a reasonable weight and a shrewd trainer,I can see their logic………So why am I going for a horse who never beat a single horse home in his last 3 outings, stone cold last all 3 times!
Several reasons,His Trainer, his owners, his handicap mark, his 2yo form,he’s lightly raced and the fact that he’s been gelded.Kieran or Johnny riding would be ideal and a high draw will see him come down the stands rail, simple as that!
Fury
£100 e/w 9/1 Bet365 Lincoln.
£750

He’ll be even better over 10f.
Just one question – if Frankel is only a Top Class miler what does that make Canford Cliffs or Excelebration? Just decent?
You have a major blindspot with this horse Gord. Have never really worked out why???

March 25, 2012 at 09:09 #398332Twirl makes her seasonal debut in the Group 3 this afternoon and after early quotes of 2/1 from Paddy Power she has been shortened in to 6/4. Given Aidan O’Brien’s record with first time out fillies it seems plenty short enough and as a May foal I had my doubts about her being forward enough to be competitive in the Guineas. She seemed to act perfectly well on similar going as today’s last year and her full sister Misty for Me showed her best form with give in the ground. Having said that she had a nice action and may improve for better ground. While I expect her to prove herself above this level in time and the market suggests she has a straightforward task this afternoon, I dont think she will be fully wound up and she will be better next time out. The 37/1 and 9/1 a place for the 1000 Guineas that were available Thursday were of more speculative interest.
