It’s now gone. What can you expect when two of the finest judges tip the horse? 8)

When Delegator won the Duke Of York, the ground was officially good, with a going stick reading of 7.3.
It’s already 8.0 for Goodwood, and likely to get faster.

Shouldn’t that be one good judge – and one piggybacking?

One of the finest judges cant pick a winner for toffee (Me!) but thats what makes this thread so real Ginge,i have been in profit since my second post on here and quickly showed a 10k lead, that lead is dwindling faster than David Camerons popularity but whereas he thinks he’s infallible i’m well aware that losing runs are the nature of the beast of gambling,my test now is to maintain the rules i have adhered to for the past 25yrs,they will be put to the test for sure but i have been there seen it and got the ‘T’ shirt on occassions in the past.Losses incurred from Regal parade,Seville and Workforce stand out as the major contributors but both Regal and Workforce were 2 of my biggest winners last year so i believe both will redeem themselves hopefully.TAPK would say i’m going into Goodwood with 3k,i’ll come out of it with 6k,watch this space!

reet, this years Duke of Yorks still a race that intrigues me.Delegator wins smoothly from a typically battling Regal parade, one thrives on fast ground the other on soft,to clock 1m 10secs suggests to me the ground was on the faster side of good but then Regal Parades proximity to the winner questions that, the remainder of the card all clocked slower than standard times too so that can only confirm Delegators performance was all the more impressive,if he doesn’t at least go off fav,i’ll eat my hat!

Unlike Zarkava i believe this years 3yo’s are a pretty decent bunch,Nathaniel undoubtedly one of the better ones, mind you he wont be getting the rather generous 12lb from Workforce in the Arc though but the collateral form surrounding him is rock solid.Fiorente did manage to get within 5l of Nathaniel at Royal Ascot, admittedly it was a poor tactical ride from Ryan Moore but prior to that Nathaniel managed to finish 3l in front of

    Slumber

when the Irish Derby winner Treasure Beach beat both,i would much rather take the 5/1 about Slumber than the Evs about Ole Stouteys contender.

    Slumber

    £200 win 5/1 Bet365 Gordon Stakes.

Fiorente looked very babyish to me at Ascot and not sure Goodwood will suit him. It was very hot yesterday not far from Goodwood and it was boiling in Windsor all day, although obviously not sure it made it down there. In a race that could (will) become tactical, I’m plumping for Namibian to make all and outride Ryan Moore, 35 minutes after he’s hopefully opened his Goodwood account upon Modun, who I’ve got stuck into at 7/2; £100EW and £100 win.

I unveiled the stats about Duke of York winners over the past 12 odd years before the race this year. They simply do not go on over the course of the season. I’m also a Red Jazz man. £50EW 8/1 & £10EW double with Modun.

I can see me doing Red Duke and Red Duke only on Wednesday before putting any winnings all on Canford, but should he lose I’ll be very happy to soak up the Goodwood sun and atmosphere and watch my opinion become fully vindicated.

The 7/2 on him to win by up to 1 1/4 lengths appeals to me. His last 4 victories have all been within that margin and Hughes won’t want to give him too hard a race with the QE2 and Breeders’ Cup Mile in mind.

KF I can only echo your comments last night, also out of form but will stick to a proven formula that works for me. This week at Goodwood, I generally outlay 20 points max in the class 2 handicaps and will be personally backing to £200 per point, I will record all bets at betfair SP, if not in profit I will gracefully stop posting on your excellant thread. Good luck to all.

2.00 Forte Dei Marmi 1.5 Win
    Circumvent 0.5 Win

    Total -2 points.

Here here,Merigo, when you look at the recent events in Norway it soon puts things into perspective that betting on horses isn’t the be all in life, however this is a racing forum and i am here to contribute to it by giving a realistic and accurate account of my wagers and opinions where possible.Glorious Goodwood is a fine racing spectacle but its not been a lucky meeting for me,i will as usual have about half a dozen ‘serious’ bets so we’ll see if this losing streak can come to an end,

    Red Jazz

    ,

    All Action

    and

    Slumber

would be my first day fancies,Red Jazz being my main bet at 10/1 in the Lennox.

    Red Jazz

    £200 e/w 10/1 Corals Lennox stakes.

My original plan had things been going my way was to have my first ever £1000 win bet on a horse,i just cant see

    Canford Cliffs

losing tomorrow,i can be quite bullish about my selections at times and have been very lucky in the past when i rattle on about one being a certainty, however Workforces defeat last weekend surprised me in several ways,i will take comfort from the fact that he was giving a ridiculous 12lb to a top class 3yo in Nathaniel,Canford cliffs also has to give 8lb to Frankel and quite frankly he’s a horse who shouldn’t be getting any weight allowances!I reckon Frankel will go off like a scolded cat and Tom will have to let him, what Frankel doesn’t know though is he wont be able to go full tilt around Goodwood and that will play a major contributing fact to his downfall,Hughsie knows he has to let Frankel steal a big lead but when he seizes his opportunity he will have too many gears for the galloping freak.I think Canford cliffs is a certainty and have taken Corals very generous 6/4,i know i’m suffering from seconditis and i’m taking on an exceptional 3yo miler who is the odds on fav but my confidence hasn’t waivered….it might after tomorrow!

    Canford Cliffs

£675 win Corals 6/4 Sussex stakes.

    £2500

I’m going to be getting on the 3/1 for a Canford victory up to 1 1/4 lengths. Think he’s a cert tbh.

"This horse doesnt just beat horses….he destroy’s them!" – those words spoken by Jim Mcgrath immediately after the Guineas have been ringing in my ears for the last couple of days.

Tomorrow is the day of reckoning and obviously I am convinced Frankel will win. All my profit from Strong Suit has gone on him and I firmly believe tomorrow will be the day he silences any remaining doubters.

But the reason I mention Jim’s words is because I have another little hunch. Zark – you are in to your stats and trends, well here is something I found interesting. These are the starting prices of the last 5 horses to finish runner up to the wonderhorse:

    Klammer – 11-1
    Roderic O Connor – 25-1
    Excelebration – 25-1
    Dubawi Gold – 33-1
    Zoffany – 20-1

Now admittedly all those horses turned out to be better than their odds on the day reflected but it still holds that those horses that were expected to prove Frankels closest rivals were not just beaten, they were destroyed. Tomorrow I am going to have 2 fun straight forecasts with Frankel and the two outsiders.

I don’t wish to sound disrespectful to Canford. I rate him very highly – he is in my TTTF – but I have a feeling he will be blown away tomorrow. And if he tries to go with Frankel 3 out he could very well end up losing 2nd. Freddie Head has not sent his horse over for fun and he was only beaten a length by Goldikova last time out which doesnt leave him masses to find. RDLP has more to find but Frankie might just get the sort of soft lead he likes and could run a big race if ridden from the front of a slow pace.

Whatever happens I cannot wait and just hope the best horse wins. If Canford wins I will obviously be gutted but will doff my cap to an exceptional racehorse. If Frankel does it there will be dancing in the streets de St Robert demain soir!!!

Soft lead? If Frankie goes no gallop, Frankel will pull Tom’s arms out and immediately go about 6 lengths ahead of Rio. Under any circumstances, Frankel will not win.

I with you here, I backed the F/C in the St James’s Palace to beat Zoffany, basically because I thought he was the one most likely to come 2nd of those he hadn’t already beaten.I will be doing same bet with Rajsaman, but might include RDLP as well.

You are dead right, anything that has tried to go with Frankel has crumbled under the pressure. I don’t think Tom will press the button so early this time but still go at least with 2 1/2 left I think. Hughesie will have to cover the move, which in my view will leave him vulnerable in the last 1/2 furlong and Rajsaman hasn’t got an awful lot to find on Canford on a line through Goldikova.
