What about a lovable rogue from Scotland, kind hearted yet slow witted, one can’t help but be fond of him: Shrek
(of course I’m joking, Shrek’s tipping record is nowhere near as good
)Bunbury Cup: I usually don’t get involved in these kind of races Gord but I like the look of NASRI. Before he ran at Ascot he’d ran two races full of promise. At Ascot I don’t know what went wrong at Ascot, apart from being drawn on the wrong side, but perhaps the ground didn’t help his cause. The return to 7 furlongs should suit and he’s weighted to reverse the form with Manassas. He has solid e/w claims imo.
July 5, 2011 at 22:59 #363701Love the links to various soaps. LOL when reading them. Just about old or should that be young enough to remember Dallas!!
Anyway re Bunbury Cup, 2 that I fancy at the prices are Doc ofthebay (16/1 at Corals) who has a really good track record. Other one is King of Dixie who has the striking booking of Harry Bentley. With his 5lbs off plus drop in ratings he’s back to a mark that hasn’t been at is more than 2 years. On top of that he’s 33/1 at numerous places. Run once at racing HQ and came 2nd. There are my 2 against the field at current prices that I have back e/w.

July 6, 2011 at 11:37 #363734KF: Bunbury Cup – I really like 2, King of Dixie (value gone) and Manassas, has been beaten by the best horses this season and won his last race nicely. Has course form and also goes on any ground which could be vital.
Generally an 8-10s shot (with some blue on oddschecker) but a stand-alone 12s with Joes, get on
July 7, 2011 at 11:16 #363803Manassas down to 8s now and Frankie has been booked to ride which is OK.
First race at York Saturday looks even more like Group Therapy’s race now that Captain Dunne has pulled out. I believe Borderlessscot to be a danger but may be too old now.
I can see GT opening up and getting hammered in the betting.
July 7, 2011 at 19:44 #363837It’s amazing what you can take out of the Racing Post stats page. Noticed Guillambert was riding at 2.05 at Folkestone on a twice-raced Cumani maiden. Then down to Epsom for a ride on Salient at 8.10. He won on him/her LTO. £20EW at 12/1 (Stan James killing me again by not offering BPG) and £15RFC with the favourite (after having done about 30 exactas in a row without doing a RFC, I decide to go for a RFC which paid £7.83 less…), but lovely stuff nonetheless.
EW double with Mijhaar and Redwood gave me £10 profit, bit of dog betting garnered about £500 profit, £50 on Submission garnered £55 profit (the £105 all going on Thimaar tomorrow at HQ), so £1123 up with 3 bets to come (Shumoos & Sahpresa EW double, Redwood & Sahpresa EW double, Leigh -4.5 in a Rugby League game (tip from a friend)), so after the nightmare that was mid to late June, I’m back in form with a big bang.
I’ve decided on Bated Breath for the July Cup who has an excellent draw (my other fancies all drawn low) and I’m also looking forward to backing Varian’s runner at Newmarket tomorrow. His 5 runners there have resulted in 3 winners, a 2nd and another placed horse.
This game can be superb at times. And Modun’s been declared for the John Smith’s
. As long as I don’t see ‘soft’ in the going description, I’m getting all over him.July 7, 2011 at 20:12 #363843No mention of

there Zarkava,i hope you kept the faith after her ‘Pipeopener’ the other week.
July 7, 2011 at 20:25 #363845Some interesting thoughts on the Bunbury cup,i just cant see Manassas running the same race twice so i cant go with him even considering the Frankie Factor,Lovelace has been there seen it and very nearly done it but he’s still being treated harshly by the handicapper,Docofthebay is very reliable and is a 7f specialist,i expect another big run from him but the horse who i have always had a soft spot for and is well treated on past form is
Fathsta
,he seems to have been around for an eternity but on his day he could surprise a few in this and the fast diminishing 20/1 is way too big,all imo of course.

I had £200 on her last month at 9/2. Against fillies and mares in a Listed race. No way was I backing her at the same price against that lot. Disgusting by Stoute to bring her to the racecourse in the state she was in the other day. I just had a couple of each-way doubles with Redwood.
July 8, 2011 at 09:50 #363875KF Like the look of St Augstine today, and sweet on the chances of Lost in the Moment in the John Smiths cup(despite the draw).

St Augustine ran well but was weighted to win that Merigo,Lexis Hero is the one to take from the race imo,i’m interested why you think Lost in the moment will beat Beachfire though in the Magnet?
July 8, 2011 at 17:25 #363927Evening King, basically I feel Lost in the Moment has more pace and will travel better than Beachfire, I like the fact he was able to quicken when others that ran close to the pace fell away. Unless it turns into a slog I dont see Beachfire being quick enough + I’m wary of Gosden handicappers in July. Would see stablemate Sarrsar (slowing running into form and has beating of selection on running last October) and Constant Contact as bigger dangers.
Made my money on both Pekan Star (would have been stronger if he took up his Chester engagement) and Green Destiny first time out, not to have to be involved in this tougher race being 10lbs+ higher and priced about the same.
As for the Bunbury, Mont Agel,Excellent Guest and Red Gulch interest me. Though with the 6f race today favouring those drawn high may need see how race before pans out before getting involved.July 8, 2011 at 18:26 #363930Amendment, Gosden handicap remark applies to 4yo/all aged handicaps.

Tut, tut, tut Kingy.
It seems the other way around me ol’ mate.

I am not getting involved in the two big handicaps and as you know am already on Delegator, Elzaam and Dream Ahead. Let me help you with some analysis. Might go in again tomorrow for Elzaam (Delegator drawn out with the washing, away from the probable best pace (Librano)). Although Swiss Diva (who I might back at a massive price tomorrow if it does not dry out) could help with pace that side along with Dalghar (got above himself at Ascot). Though neither is an out and out front runner like Librano. Elssie’s girl ran much, much better on reappearance than it appeared, travelled well up with the pace for a good way. Bated Breath is another possible saver bet with stable in good form.
Expect Librano to go up the rail tomorrow instead of up the middle. Elzaam drawn nearby in 3 and Dream Ahead between the two. If Hayley can also get the rail on the big horse could well help in the latter stages, can wander badly. Did notice Star Witness was poor in his coat at Ascot, if it’s better tomorrow could come on again. Monsieur Chevalier isn’t out of it either.
