Hi all, well here we are again Wednesday once more and the time again to put my head on the block with my one’s to avoid as so far i am down a couple of quid.
I’ll begin with the Turning Stone Championship and at least we don’t have Mr Woods to contend with although i don’t be grudge any thing he has achieved now or in the past, for me evey sport needs someone of his stature, it’s just that the price he is now doe’s not interest me who likes to find a bit of value.
My three for this are Sean O’Hair, Vaughn Taylor and Anders Hansen.
Boarding the magic carpet for something a bit closer to home and The British Masters, thankfully can watch it on the Beeb whillst in the office on Thurs, Fri and Sat and the comfort of the front room on Sunday.
Firstly i hope that Rory Mcllroy does ok but i wont be putting my burden on his shoulders, the three for me in this are having done him last week ifeel i can’t desert Richard Green just yet, Johan Edfors who appears to be coming out of the doldrums recently and Ross Fisher who did me a favour a month ago before i joined the forum.
There are a few more but i can’t do them all so i’m sure one of them will oblige. those being Westwood,Fasth, Karlsson, Dougherty,Jeeve-Milka, Jacquelin and Dyson to name a few.
Anything any body can put my way will be greatly appreciated but whatever your fancies good luck.
September 19, 2007 at 14:46 #115562Hi wakeman and if you are only down a couple of quid then you are probably doing better than me
As you know the Turning Stone is a new event on the pga tour this year and the present betting illustrates what a wide open contest it is……joint favs on BF at the moment are Allenby, Appleby and Pettersson at 25/1.
My main selection is also Sean O’Hair who has played good golf in some stronger events than this one so far in 2007 without winning and did well recently in the Deutsche Bank championship. This course should suit him in my opinion. My other choice is on John Mallinger who has played reasonably well in his last 2 tournaments. The British Masters is a bit less open with Westwood being the 16/1 fav at the moment but I’ll be surprised if he wins. I’m betting more in hope than confidence on this event with 2 selections —
Richard Sterne played reasonably last week after some time of from golf. He does not have that good a record at this event and missed the cut last year but I think he’s a player who could win again before the end of the year ( probably when I don’t back him ).
Jeev Milkha Singh hit form at about this time of the year in 2006. He has played on the pga tour a lot in 2007 and has found it difficult but has returned to europe and his last two finishes have been 31st and 16th so hopefully he may be running into form again.
Good luck.
September 21, 2007 at 14:30 #115803I put £11 on Fasth at 210 (betfair) when I saw the weather conditions this morning, and the leaders dropping shots like confetti
.Fasth started the day 12 behind, but is now only 7 behind and is trading at around 60. I’m just praying for 2 or 3 birdies on the back nine.

September 21, 2007 at 17:31 #115831Only 4 behind now and trading at 20’s as opposed to 210

About time I got some cash from him lol.
September 21, 2007 at 17:43 #115835Nice one Mike. Golf is such an unpredictable sport to bet on which is maybe why I enjoy it. When Sterne shot 77 early today I thought his chance had gone ( and maybe he’ll do worse tomorrow ) but he’s only 5 shots of the lead now with 36 holes to play.
Good luck.September 21, 2007 at 19:06 #115853You’re not joking SC.
Amazing to think that Sterne shot a 65 yesterday while Fasth shot a 75, then today Fasth shoots a 66 and Sterne shoots a 77. That’s an amazing 21 shot swing between just those 2 players (Sterne 10 better yesterday, 11 worse today).
I listened to Radio 5 Live this morning at about 9am and they reported that the wind was blowing and the early starters were dropping shots. I couldn’t wait to get my machine on lol, as I knew that Fasth plays very well in difficult conditions and I knew he was trading at around 300 during the night.
I just missed getting 250, but I just got on at 210. I never in my wildest dreams expected him to be only 4 behind having been 12 behind starting the day – but I knew if the leaders stood still and he shots 3 or 4 under I would be able to lay him off at around 100. So to be able to lay him off at just over 20’s is a bonus.
I haven’t layed any off yet as I am half tempted to wait and see if he gets a good start tomorrow then lay him off at even shorter – or is that being greedy

September 22, 2007 at 17:49 #116003Mike — Another good day for Fasth who is now trading at 5.8 on BF. By my reckoning you could lay off to give yourself a winner not that far away from 50/1. Are you going to hope for more or take some profit?
I see O’Hair has got going too late in the USA . Flesch is leading and won from the front recently but I don’t think he’ll do it this time.
Good luck tomorrow.
September 24, 2007 at 00:13 #116157Hi SC,

. I was out Saturday night and all today so couldn’t get to a machine to take full advantage but i’m not complaining lol.Mike
