In a couple of year time, all being well, will the name of the Golden Jubilee be changed to Diamond Jubilee?

Damn!
June 19, 2010 at 14:57 #302012Kinsale King finished 3rd, not bad at all.
June 19, 2010 at 14:58 #302013Damn!
What do you mean? Surely a signed photograph of Yeats is more important than money?

It’s not won yet Gerald, I assure you everyone in the Wilson household is aware of what’s on offer.

You have to laugh, don’t you!
Aidan has been telling us all season his horses seem to be ‘needing the run’, as if it’s all some great mystery to him and his stable, then proceeds to tell us (after Starspangledbanner’s stroll in the park) that he’d only done half-speed work prior to York, but had clocked a 9.5 sec furlong in training for this.June 19, 2010 at 18:29 #302081You have to laugh, don’t you!
Aidan has been telling us all season his horses seem to be ‘needing the run’, as if it’s all some great mystery to him and his stable, then proceeds to tell us (after Starspangledbanner’s stroll in the park) that he’d only done half-speed work prior to York, but had clocked a 9.5 sec furlong in training for this.In fairness to O’Brien he was quoted with..
"He came to us after his last run. He went into quarantine and then straight on the plane," he said.
"I don’t know what will happen, but he is not slow.
"He is very quick and it will be interesting to see how he gets on. I have told Johnny (Murtagh) that he needs to wear a neck brace and a parachute.
"His top gear is so fast in his homework and I hope he shows us here what he showed in Australia."
…before The Duke Of York. They gave Haradasun a similar type prep before the Queen Anne.

Cav
"He was 20 lengths better today than the horse that ran at York"
(Johnny Murtagh’s words – not mine). We all know that this kind of thing happens all the time in racing; fortunately the Irish have the common sense not to wreck jockey’s careers for passing on information about it.
June 19, 2010 at 19:47 #302092Murtagh’s 20 length comment was completely off the cuff….
Meanwhile you should read the Racing Post as the sectional time was mentioned it in this morning – though I am not sure we all demand the workout times now too! So yes we did have all the information before and after the race.

Not sure we did, Aidan – I’m still amazed how candid AOB was (post-race) on how little he’d prepared the horse for his British debut.
Certainly much different from the standard "he’ll come on for the run" guff the stable usually utter.June 19, 2010 at 22:49 #302123Wonderful stuff. So glad the American horse did well, but disappointed to read that the winner will be retiring this year. Memories of Dayjur came flooding back.

Thanks for that, Cav; you’d certainly think today was a good day to be party to the Coolmore grapevine.
June 20, 2010 at 00:41 #302142Ran a identical race to his sire in one of those double Group 1 wins in that famous week.
Smart ride by Murtagh.
Great training by O Brien and Lillie Langtry training feat was exceptional. Filly should have really been retired with that sort of injury considering her value.
June 20, 2010 at 02:15 #302147Kingsgate Native should go for the Kings Stand, theres always an option to go for the GJ if he comes out ok.
Starspangledbanner is the one for me. I’m aware of O’Briens dip in form but that could just be the horses ability this year. Fame and Glory seems to have nothing wrong with him and I fancy Starspangledbanner will go well after his first run for the yard. Australian sprint form must be given creedence and Starspangledbanner with time to settle and a run should be the pick.
I just hope I don’t have to type his bloody name too often

^^Happy
^^Listened to the RPTV reaction there…AOB was wetting himself after the race!
June 20, 2010 at 03:48 #302150Sometimes with relief comes relieving. After the dark night comes the dawn. Now if as some say his three year olds were not do damn ordinary we could look forward to the Irish Derby. Even maybe the King George! But if he ignored it last year he will probably do the same this year
June 20, 2010 at 08:37 #302178Well the stats broke in that one…

AOB breaks his duck!

The fav wins – (ok a jF – at that!)

Murtagh keeps up his good record in the race…
and ‘Kinsale King’ is a good advert for having the odd pint of Guinness!

The run of ‘one’ does make me wonder what might have been? – in the Kings Stand…
