Sorry Ham a very poor renewal , what absolute nonsense , you have the winner of a very strong KG , prob the winners of the prev 2 gold cups , a young progressive grand national winner and then you have the likes Ah Senor and Hewick coming in off wins , GDC is overhyped in my eyes but could be a star , it’s a very good competitive GC that I cant wait to watch
February 27, 2023 at 10:29 #1637177It’s competitive. I wouldn’t say it’s a particularly strong renewal though.
A below par A Plus Tard and missing L’homme presse detract an awful lot from the race in my opinion.
February 27, 2023 at 11:24 #1637179Looking forward to it as well, but wouldn’t be so sure it’s a super renewal- GDC could be anything but aside frm that….not sure.
“a very strong KG” haha. Like a broken record…
The only horse that give any strong renewal argument is the faller, who is better the other way round and the conditions were never going to show him to his optimum- but ok. The rest either never show up at the top table or are woefully inconsistent.
I take nothing away from the winner, he was impressive, but he’s plenty to prove himself…unless he’s your bet in the race + he all of a sudden becomes supermanHenry’s starting to catch fire….A Plus Tard will be a fascinating watch in the market + in the race, can’t wait

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!February 27, 2023 at 13:04 #1637196What’s missing for it to be a good renewal?
February 27, 2023 at 14:58 #1637206Jack, L’homme presse tipped up because BMG had him running out his comfort zone for the entirety of the race.
I love L’homme and can’t wait to see him back next year but he was beaten fair and square before coming down.
It’s the best British form on offer. And the winner has come on a ton this year.
February 27, 2023 at 15:45 #1637217Tizz, he did have him beat, but my points still stand on LHP being suited to LH’d tracks more and a track like Cheltenham.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!February 27, 2023 at 19:28 #1637237Jack your the broken record , you keep trying to knock the KG form but then struggle to put up any stronger form , Jesus you’ve mentioned Conflated , who was beaten by Envoi Allen … Where was he in the KG ? …. form lines Jack form lines , you don’t like BMG that’s fine , he brings the best form to the table this year
February 27, 2023 at 20:15 #1637241Been enjoying reading the debate on who is the best horse……… to finish second to GDC. ;o)
February 27, 2023 at 20:27 #1637242Mike on another short prices favourite lol , who,d have guessed
February 27, 2023 at 20:59 #1637245Lol HDLG, i do knock it- as you are stating “a very strong king george” which to be honest hasn’t been proven.
Great form line example there HDLG….Envoi Allen running 51Ls 7th….BMG must be rated 200+ on that basis.
Good luck.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!February 27, 2023 at 21:22 #1637246Jack the best form this season … please I’m still waiting ,and the point im making regarding Envoi is your potentially putting up a horse beaten by a Ryanair horse , that 200 nonsense proves your struggling for an argument , certainly back him if you wish , but don’t argue there’s a form line to justify it , BMG has the strongest form this season , he,s a e.w price despite this , Nicholls has him as his best chance of the week and his best chance since Kauto … That will do me
February 27, 2023 at 21:41 #1637248Is it a very strong king george? that’s what my current post/reply related to.
As for the Conflated point, i merely said him and Stattler at the current prices, were the two i’d be closest to backing, i didn’t say i’d backed. He has plenty of useful form.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!February 27, 2023 at 21:56 #1637249Strong form , your spot on , beating Kemboy is rock solid gold cup winning form , can’t believe I didn’t think
that was better than the KG form ….. thanks JackFebruary 28, 2023 at 08:06 #1637270Its not weak in the sense that the correct grade 1 winners are turning up HDLG, thats unquestionable but APT is second fav coming off a shocking run LTO, stattler 3rd fav who cant beat GDC on all known form, noble yeats who lets be honest here is NOT progressive, his ceiling has been reached, hes not a 170s horse, hewick has no chance on form ,protektorat/ahoy senor/ conflated are miles off it
BMG is the only other horse bar the fav who has any real chance, but id be wary or not if hes 1- good enough at cheltenham or 2- a strong enough stayer (IMO he wont stay)
If GDC bombed out id see this going to a 160s horse- in turn – making it a weak renewal
February 28, 2023 at 10:15 #1637280Again HDLG, i never said that. One thing you’re good at is putting words in my mouth.
Maybe if you replied to the posts i make rather than twisting them for yourself we’d get somewhere.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!February 28, 2023 at 18:47 #1637332Jack try taking your own advise , what is the best form you’ve seen this season ? , that’s what I asked , you’ve put forward Stattler and Conflated , I believed if you did that then you,d have seen some form lines to back up your believes , if you dont have a strong view that’s fine but being maybe hold of being sarcastic about my strong view on BMG
February 28, 2023 at 18:58 #1637334The best form line of a season doesn’t necessarily equate to a Gold Cup winner. Al Boum Photo ‘did his own thing’ and went to Tramore. Native River had a 3 runner Denman Chase to himself. A Plus Tard failed in his prep. So did Minella Indo.
