But a lot of the time it does Mike , Kauto , Denman , Best Mate etc, it’s the Gold Cup , there’s plenty form to go off

First Cheltenham Gold Cup winner ai remember watching was Ten Up in 1975.

Winners have all manner of profiles and in more recent times some have had low-key preparations.

But the majority have brought strong current form to the race.

Who can tell me which two Gold Cup winners had won at Market Rasen and Hereford on their final outings before Cheltenham?

A lot of people seem to like stattler

    Don’t see it myself

He’s raced galopin twice and been beaten a combined 21 1/4 lengths

In a match race I’d have noble yeats (if in the cheekpieces he won the national in iirc) to finish ahead of stattler

Is Frodon going to run ? If not who,s likely to make the pace , the worry for both Stattler and Noble is if they get to far behind , Yeats hit a flat spot last time if he does that in a GC he,s toast

The Stattler cause isn’t going to be helped by the likely nepotistic jockey booking. Deters me anyway.

    Frodon isn’t entered

The only front runner is ahoy senor

So very hard to see them going quick

Pilgarlic what crap is that??? Nepotistic jockey booking! Think Patrick Mullins has more than proved he’s up to the job, regardless of his surname.

Ian, I was at Cheltenham for the first time that day to see Ten Up. I’d backed him at big prices ante post. The rain was biblical – I only dried out last Thursday. They abandoned the remainder of the meeting straight after the Gold Cup.

The race after the Gold Cup would have been the 3 mile novice chase, and Brown Lad was entered, having strolled home in the stayers hurdle only the day before. I wonder if you remember that race Joe? the easiest Cheltenham winner ever? I wish there was footage.

I can’t see Ah Senor going off too hard , they have to get him jumping , if he makes a mistake early he could fall apart

HDLG, jsut because you think it’s the strongest form this season, doesn’t actually certify it strong form.

Why is beating RP 14Ls super strong form? 31Ls beaten at Aintree, miles behind Conflated? Any good horse beats him far.
    Frodon 18.25Ls?
    Eldorado Allen?
    Millers Bank?

Ahoy Senor has backed it up, but he’s as reliable and trustworthy as our politicians.

I’ll go back to it L’Homme Presse is the only horse to make it look good form, and i’ll repeat, the trainer said before the race wasn’t ideal for him, he wants Cheltenham + left handed. So, yes he’s beaten a very very good horse in LHP and was probably going to beat him in decent style. However, that horse was not in his ideal conditions, so for me, that means BMG was beating a “lesser” LHP?

That’s how i read the form- yes as i’ve said BMG was impressive, but i’d have my concerns on him anyway nevermind the KG form, as well documented.

As for the best form this season point above, i suggest you read back- i never said they were stronger races, i said i wouldn’t say there’s much difference. Stattler + Minella Indo was a fine race. I said both of them were the only two in a very bad antepost market that make some form of appeal.

I’ll say it again, can you quote me or something in your replies if you’re making points about my replies, as 99% of the time you’re making things up.

    cheers.

I gave you the most recent examples. You have been reminding everyone about BMG having the number 1 form going into the race, that is fair enough if that is your thinking, what I am saying is that it isn’t a given that horse then wins a Gold Cup.
BMG didn’t beat the best of Ireland in the King George so until they meet we won’t know for sure the outcome. In recent years it has been the Irish, I think it will be again.

Jack what about the KG third , you’ve missed him out ? , does he not add to my argument ? , be clear I’m not making anything up merely asking a question … I’ve given up asking for a example of stronger form now

Does he? He was beaten by that horse you don’t rate Conflated further?

    What am i missing?

Hammered by Protektorat, Ahoy Senor + Our Power?

Beaten further by Tornado Flyer in the race last year?

Beaten further at Aintree by Conflated? 31ls hammered by Clan?

Not mapped in the GC, beaten by a horse going to the X-C, Protektorat and Minella Indo?

When he runs at the top table he’s well and truly put in his place.

A good horse yep, but i struggle to see how he backs up your argument?
