    Yes green BMG as well!

L’homme presse though no. Gold cup horses shouldn’t be jumping like that and ultimately getting rid of the jockey.

That’s as important to me as it’s finishing position.

TC, he’s better left handed and has jumped fine in a lot of his races- wouldn’t be a massive concern. Kauto Star has a few blotches on his copybook.

His jumping is usually a sight to behold Jack. And he was my idea of the horse to chase APT home at the start of the season but it didn’t seem like an overly quick pace that brought about his foibles in the King George so for me it would be a worry why he jumped like that.

Even if you allow for him being better left handed, nobody can tell me he jumped well overall at kempton. He was erratic the whole way round and that’s a significant concern (or would be if I was thinking of backing hom) for a race like the Gold Cup.

Well TC, the fact he jumped as bad as you say and was still going to finish not that far behind BMG….either tells me he’s a horse with a massive engine, or BMG, ain’t going near in a GC either!

How far do you feel he was going to finish behind him Jack? He was at the end of his tether (a further negative given the extra gold cup distance) and to my mind would have been beaten 6l or more.

That’s massive and would be a real concern for anyone who’s on him ante post?

BMG has clearly improved a bundle and would be idea of an each way play all things considered. But as I’ve said previously, I don’t like the look of the race at all just now.

Jack rewatch the KG and see how much extra ground BMG covered being out wide and yet he still wins easily , I’m really struggling to understand how people are knocking the run

He’d have won much easier wouldn’t he if lhomme presse didn’t keep jumping into him

If Nicholls can produce the winter bmg in the spring he has a good chance

    Especially if its quick ground

The L’homme Presse team may well fancy their chances against BMG at Cheltenham if the horse is in tip top shape and the ground isn’t fast. L’homme Presse is a Cheltenham Festival winner. BMG the course is a question mark. BMG had the Kempton form and laid out for the King George for 12 months. L’homme Presse connections said all along that Kempton was BMG’s back yard, not an ideal track for their horse, and it would be a big challenge to beat him there.

The history books have shown us reversals from the King George to the Gold Cup.

FWIW Tizz I don’t think either Bravemansgame or L’Homme Presse will win the Gold Cup.

(a further negative given the extra gold cup distance)

Tizz, you seem to be basing all of this off a run around Kempton.

He’s already won around Cheltenham over 3m 1/2f on soft ground?

As Mike says the King George is not the same as the GC. BMG was impressive, when have i said he wasn’t?

BMG’s improved a bundle? I’d say the KG was his GC and there’s not many better trainers for targeting a horse at a target, especially AWAY from Cheltenham (these days anyway).

Everyone that is gushing over BMG, doesn’t seem to consider the fact L’Homme Presse will be better off around Cheltenham.

    I ain’t backed either and probably won’t.

I haven’t said you haven’t said  BMG wasn’t impressive Jack.

Winning the novice last year he was fantastic and I totally agree he usually jumps lovely. Can we agree though that his king George run isn’t ideal?

It doesn’t add up to me that he should be shorter in the betting than BMG that’s for sure.

I’m on APT after his betfair stinker so I have no qualms with backing any horse after one poor run but I wouldn’t be backing L’homme at 8’s given his last run when 2 or 3 others around the same price or bigger have run better on their last run.

Did the stayers or the speed horses come to the fore in the KG …. I think you’ll find it was the Stayers , as for saying it was his GC , he,s a young horse on a upward curve , I’ve said it before it’s the best bit of GC form we,ve had the season

Sorry Tizz i’ve addressed you at the start, but actually was talking to HDLG when mentioning the impressive part.

Agreed it’s not ideal, but i don’t think the race was ever going to be his ideal.

I personally would still favour LHP over BMG for a Gold Cup. The last run isn’t the be all and end all as i keep saying, and when a horses perfect set of conditions are Kempton and the others are not, i’d say that’s clearly factored into the current market.

Stattler was the nearest one to having a bet for me, but i’ll leave it until closer i reckon.

Thank goodness Bravemansgame isn’t a horse who’s never won after February his entire career, never won at Cheltenham, got withdrawn there last season due to Soft ground and isn’t proven beyond 3m on a Park course.

    Err, but he is.

It was BMG’s long term target, and we know with Nicholls he’s very good at that. We’ve seen it quite often in recent years where horses are targeted here, win and then people get carried away about their GC chances on a course the other way round, 2.5fs longer and undulating/testing in nature. It’s not just the same.

Bravemansgame won in October and December last year, both of which come after February! :)
