Jeremy
Thanks for the info on Easingwold, sounds like an interesting venue. I actually found some footage on youtube earlier today, I can see what you mean about the finishing chute!.
I hadn’t noticed the possibility of the Kingston Blount/Warwick double, I’ve not been to Kingston, shame it’s on the same day as Easingwold/Thirsk, but closer to home though, I’ll have to give that some thought……..as well as the other options you suggested.
A Marks Tey/Great Leighs double never really occurred to me I have to say. I’ve been to Marks Tey several times, but I was putting off visiting Great Leighs until they had built the permanent grandstand etc. Bit silly really, I never imagined I’d have a racecourse within 20 minutes, and yet it was there and I never went, but did days trips to Newton Abbot, Bangor etc in the meantime, something to do with the sand…………..
February 28, 2011 at 20:57 #342688Funnily enough, I never did Great Leighs either, despite living not so far away in Hitchin for its entire lifespan! Less a case of eschewing it completely, but rather of them never racing on a day when I didn’t have somewhere else to go (even when that meant Kelso on once occasion!).
Will drop you a line if I end up at Marks Tey, Higham, etc. this season – got allocated the first-named’s Easter Monday last year, and prospects of the same thing happening again this.
