Quietly and without consultation it appears that Chester and Bangor have stopped paying Turftrax for the little service of providing going information in the form of a course map to show where, say, the soft bits of some good-soft going descriptions might occur and its relevance to races over different distances.
They still have to provide going stick readings as BHA require. So any map savings must be peanuts.
It all seems so backward in attitude and petty.
We make a tiny step forward with a few meetings providing sectional data, then 2 courses decide that the information which many trainers, jockeys, punters find more important ie going data can just be dispensed with.I despair. BHA must get some rigour into what data tracks provide to maintain their licence – they surely cannot continue all just doing their own thing. If there is no reaction then other courses will follow suit and we are back into the even darker days.
October 8, 2013 at 11:21 #454110Amazing such a big industry can be run with so many ineptitudes.
The thing is, there are many examples of jurisdictions that simply do it better, but our institution has it’s head firmly up it’s backside. ‘British racing, best in the world’ No, no it is not…

October 9, 2013 at 08:20 #454243If they cost any money at all and are generated from going stick readings then it’s a worthwhile saving.
