Its getting close between Chapman and him for me ….cant they both take the black (game of thrones ) and get to the wall …..leave us to enjoy racing without the classroom approach ….

Luck and Willoughby …..what can you expect really ……meanwhile the other poor bloke just stands in amusement …..

June 24, 2014 at 20:30 #483867You just need to add Oily Bell to make it four of the most annoying people on RUK: him, Luck, Willoughby and Chris Dixon.
June 24, 2014 at 20:40 #483869Please Racing Uk , show us the horses , you did us all proud at Ascot . you do every time Hislop/ Mellish come on ….but tonight was a disgrace , there by the paddock , not a mention of the horses ….precis of the race left to last moment …just shocking
Meanwhile we are all treated to the split screen classroom ….its fugging boring mister , its meaningless , and er I dont think The trainer or jockey will take your opinions seriously for a nano second so why the heck should we ….paying 23 sovs a month for the endurance of this nonsense
Get these wasters offfffff
please
imo
June 24, 2014 at 22:52 #483876I like willoughby, and im not a sectionals person. He makes the effort to add another dimension to the debate. He was also useful with angus as a duo. I think british racing in general has good racing personalities/pundits. Theyre all just flutter merchants with an opinion like the rest of us.
June 24, 2014 at 23:25 #483877People who don’t understand sectional times and their importance – won’t like it when pundits talk about sectional times.

Maybe watching RUK drove him to drink?
June 25, 2014 at 07:25 #483888Nope, it’s reading Ricky Lake that drove me to drink

you are broadcasting right beside the parade ring in newbury …do you
1 show the horses and chat about them
2 totally ignore them and rave on about ascot performances the previous week …for the entire show !!!
Its a long way to Newbury , its even longer when you have to listen to drivel supported by split screens
The whole point of broadcasting is to show and discuss the horses , unless you are acting on the sponsors instructions and do everything
not to assist the viewers / punters
A foul state of affairs

Dare say they were trying to "assist the viewers" by analysing Royal Ascot at a time when the races were still clear in the analyst/viewer’s mind. For sure it must be frustrating for those few punters interested in Newbury; but it does seem sometimes as though you just want to jump at any chance of (yet again) criticising Willow & all.
Value Is EverythingJune 25, 2014 at 12:31 #483915I think Mr Willoughby is an intelligent and witty broadcaster, but I feel he is doing himself few favours with what appears to be a sectional timing obsession (he hardly talks about any other subject nowadays).
No matter how many times he and his ilk bang the drum, sectional timing remains an esoteric minority interest within racing. This may change and the future may bring advances in it’s use and application to form study.
However, until such a day arrives I would agree that Mr Willoughby could use his – and RUK’s subscribers’ – time in a more inclusive manner.

June 25, 2014 at 13:18 #483916I recall James Willoughby making a grovelling apology on TV regarding a comment he had made regarding the, then, recently deceased Bob Monkhouse.
Does anyone recall what he said that offended viewers enough to complain?
I am sure I wouldn’t have been offended, as Bob made a living himself out of the same sort of thing himself.
Sectionals are God to some people, as we can see on other threads here

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I’m sure that most of us can empathise with you there.
June 25, 2014 at 18:18 #483930Who is the new woman on RUK tonight? Seems a bit out of her depth to me – as nervous as hell.
June 25, 2014 at 19:42 #483934Dont know who she is ,,,but we had loads more Ascot regurgitation
crikey , talk about overkill
June 25, 2014 at 19:54 #483935Is it Aly Rowell? Apparently she’s a famous racing person in Wales…..
