Ah ok Ian, I’ve never looked into the numerical readings and assumed the higher the number the softer the ground but I guess it’s the opposite! 6.9 it will have been then.

Sorry I got it wrong yesturday! I guess that’d what happens when i don’t go straight to the source! No reading I’m afraid but a lady who walked the track just now said good to soft, soft in places. It’s raining lightly here atm with rain forecast all day, wouldn’t be surprised if it was soft by the first race

I’m reading there’s been 1mm rain the last hour with another 7mm forecast the next 24 hours.

Saw them walking the track when I got to the car park at 6.50 this morning, I did not envy grounds or the clerk at all, really miserable weather, the rain has turned back to drizzle now and has been this way for around 30mins

I have to admit I have no regrets about not attending Glorious Goodwood, which is only an hour from me, this year.

It’s the most beautiful racecourse on Earth in sunny weather, but when the weather is bad it’s shocking.

The bends and the pull up area are said to be unsafe.

It does beg the question if the pull up area was safe for the cavalry charge of the Stewards Cup.

Areas get more dangerous the more horses race on it, CAS.
The 27 Stewards Cup runners almost doubled the runners using the pulling up area today.
30 runners before, + the 27 stewards Cup runners = 57.
So to abandon now and not earlier is imo understandable.
