Seeing as it was 6.1 this time yesterday and the ground has dried out since my guess is you heard 6.9, Ben.
We will find out soon enough when it’s posted online.
Times yesterday were markedly quicker than on Wednesday.

It’s actually 6.5.
No joy for fast-ground horses, but certainly better than it was.

I guess that’d what happens when i don’t go straight to the source! No reading I’m afraid but a lady who walked the track just now said good to soft, soft in places. It’s raining lightly here atm with rain forecast all day, wouldn’t be surprised if it was soft by the first race
August 5, 2023 at 07:24 #1658527Thanks Ben – you’ve done a fabulous job all week long at this five-day meeting.
I’m reading there’s been 1mm rain the last hour with another 7mm forecast the next 24 hours.
I, like you, suspect it will end up Soft ground.

It’s started raining heavier now, none of that light drizzle stuff

August 5, 2023 at 09:15 #1658536I have to admit I have no regrets about not attending Glorious Goodwood, which is only an hour from me, this year.
It’s the most beautiful racecourse on Earth in sunny weather, but when the weather is bad it’s shocking.

August 5, 2023 at 15:54 #1658708Stewards are looking at the start of the Stewards Cup, meeting may not continue.
The more I know the less I understand.
August 5, 2023 at 16:18 #1658722Remainder of the meeting abandoned.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread this week – especially Ben.
I will do another one for York.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"August 5, 2023 at 16:20 #1658726The bends and the pull up area are said to be unsafe.
It does beg the question if the pull up area was safe for the cavalry charge of the Stewards Cup.
August 5, 2023 at 16:28 #1658733Areas get more dangerous the more horses race on it, CAS.
The 27 Stewards Cup runners almost doubled the runners using the pulling up area today.
30 runners before, + the 27 stewards Cup runners = 57.
So to abandon now and not earlier is imo understandable.Value Is EverythingAugust 5, 2023 at 16:30 #1658734I think Rumstar’s stall incident could have been ground related.
The more I know the less I understand.
