Value Is EverythingApril 28, 2013 at 09:54 #437710Looks to be a lucrative area for you Ginge, nice going.
For future reference I would also suggest seriously looking at the combi exacta/trifectas in this section too as you would have bagged them both again in this race.
A 7 horse combi Exacta would cost 42 points and yesterday returned 190.7 points, and the full 7 horse combi Trifecta would be 210 points laid out and returned 1,882.2 points. However by including just one of the main selections -excluding On Trend that is-as a banker, the outlay would be reduced to 90 points.
Keep it going at this rate Ginge and could prove to be a bit of a cash cow

Unfortunately Softie, unless I have a bet in the Swinton – this thread will be moth balled until at least late October, as I don’t agree with Summer jumping.
I had a late top up on Same Difference Softie, so it didn’t make much difference at all to me who won yesterday. Had I done a combination bet yesterday I’d have kept On Trend in and left out Well Refreshed and Hadrians Approach.
What I could do Softie is: Next season when I have a lot of bets in a race I will mark those punters might like to include in combos. Possibly up to 5 horses. Can’t say that I will have time to do a p/l on these though.
Do you think it’s best to do this for all races? Or just the Big races? Or just the big field handicaps?

That`s why i said for future reference Ginge, i knew that this thread would soon end for the season.
Difficult to know whether you should extend to other races without going back through the thread ,but the success in particular seems to have come in these bigger staying chases, and the dividends will almost always be greater here. this is the area to concentrate on to start but patience will need to be applied – at least these posts will be at the end of the seasons thread and can be picked up early next jump season.Maybe have a look at the larger field flat handicap races and see how it goes for now.
The point i was making about adding a banker selection into the trifecta mix was purely for stake reduction, so maybe nominate what you feel is your main 2 bets for the race, and let others decide how or even whether they wish to play, but keep the main bets and savers as you would usually do.
I will keep tabs on them and see what arises – maybe on all races and then filter from there?

Over the last couple of years definitely Sam. Although it did not used to be the case.
