Think Thousand Stars at 7/2 w/o The Fly is a good bet today Ginge, he often well this time of year, ground and trip not ideal but he’s not much to beat today, don’t fancy ROR at all, ground and track far from ideal plus he’s run two pretty average races at Aintree the last two seasons, seems to save his best for the Festival. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was well beaten today.

After deliberating long and hard I’ve decided to give Solwhit and the whole race a miss, I figure even though I like it I don’t have enough confidence in it to back it at the price. Finish work at 6 so may well hit up the 19.15 at Punchestown
if I’m bored enough!
You’ll never make a serious gambler with that sort of attitude Ben.
What the hell are you doing working for a living!
Seriously though, never bet just because you have the opportunity. Although true, if not sure Solwhit is value then I applaud you not betting.
Haha I’m still learning the ropes and trying out different styles, I ended up putting a tiny amount on Onsie in the 7.15 but wasn’t confident enough of the consistency of young fillies so played it safe.
Well done for the saver on Quevega, you must have been laughing when Solwhit got removed and you were sitting on 5/2!
The 1.30 tomorrow at Sandown looks interesting, Calculated Risk is smart but is giving a little more weight away to a couple of recent opponents who finished close to him, obviously Ptit Zig looks strong and Counsel could be a decent bet depending on the odds.
I’m hoping Finians Rainbow has reasonable odds too, he’s had excuses all season and although there are obvious risky attatched; tomorrow it looks like the trip/conditions will finally be in his favour. Then again Sanctuaire likes this course and could prove tough to beat.

Your points on ROR are well made Pants. Two poor races at Aintree are a concern, but I think that is the reason for them allowing more time and coming here. Ground is also a bit of a worry, but he’s run pretty well on "soft" and would not need to run to his best to place second. True, he might get well beat, but @ 5/1 I think it’s worth the risk. Unless Midnight Game or Thousand Stars takes him on can see ROR getting an easy lead. Also, the Champion distance between The Fly and ROR may flatter the Irish horse. As Fehily arguably went too fast in the middle part of the race.
I agree, Thousand Stars looks value in the "betting without" market. Thinking about going in for that myself, as you’ve pointed it out Pants. I don’t see ground or trip as a negative, provided they go a pace the ground should bring stamina in to play. Came close to doing my bets the other way, with Thousand Stars as the main bet.
Good luck.
Value Is EverythingApril 26, 2013 at 13:49 #437495Changed my bet slightly in the end Ginge, Thousand Stars is 11/4 in a match with ROR so have played that instead, the more I looked at So Young the more I thought he might come into play, won over 16f on heavy recently beating Zaidpour easliy so getting his conditions and trip again today he could well run a good race.

Not really Ben, the 5/2 had a rule 4 and only a saver anyway so failed to make a profit on the race. Shame Solwhit wasn’t fit to run, as a race with the mare would’ve been some sight.
Yet to study the racing for tomorrow.

Saw 25/1 with B365 just before the Irish Champion Hurdle, thought I’d wait until after the race. By then the 25/1 had gone so I took 22/1 @ Skybet, but before I could put the bet up here the 22/1 had disappeared. So will call it 20/1 if Dovers Hill wins.Value Is EverythingApril 26, 2013 at 17:12 #4375163:50 Sandown
