19 points @ 33/1 (SJ) China Rock* (min 25/1)Value Is EverythingJanuary 14, 2013 at 14:01 #426269China Rock didn’t seem to stay in the Gold Cup last year and has been backed on the exchanges at even better than 33’s (by me amongst others). Suggests they’re favouring the Ryanair this year. Rushed up to take up the running around the turn in the Lexus on reappearance (going reasonably well). But again did not get home due to fitness or stamina. Seemed to get the trip well in Grade 1 Punchestown Gold Cup (3m1f Heavy) last spring, but that wasn’t so strongly run. Winning by 5 lengths from Follow The Plan (who’d won Betfair Bowl on his previous start) with 6 1/2 back to the third. China Rock’s other form doesn’t quite measure up; however a tongue strap was only applied for those two races, so there’s every chance it does not flatter him.
Travels well in his races at 3m+ so should still be fully effective at 2m5f, I believe possibly be more so in a truly run race. Beaten just a neck for 3rd behind Michael D’Haguenet in 2m5f novices hurdle at the Festival. And 4th to Copper Bleu in Jewson Novices Handicap Chase under 11-3. Goes equally as well on very soft or good ground (has a fluent action).
China Rock wouldn’t need to improve a great deal so 33/1 seriously under-estimates his chance (imo).Value Is EverythingJanuary 14, 2013 at 15:37 #4262783:15 Plumpton
41 points @ 7/2 (L) No No Bingo (min 100/30)28 points @ 11/2 (B365) Simply Wings (min 11/2)
Simply Wings flew home! Both horses backed shortening significantly, No No Bingo halving in price but ran as if something amiss. Simply Wings in to 7/2 won well. Getting back most (113) of my -132.33 points deficit from Saturday… Where after the first bet Bally Legend going in, nothing else went right. With three more seconds, no truer words than "Godsmejudge", just missing out in the "Classic".
I’ll be taking a look at a couple of possible betting races at Ffos Las tomorrow, other than that hopefully Newbury will beat the frost Wednesday.

Value Is EverythingJanuary 15, 2013 at 12:03 #426353Really like the look of Full of Joy Ginge especially now that he’s back at 3/1
Gran Torino looks interesting too, was far from disgraced in a couple of recent outings in decent events but now that he’s down to 9/1 the value isn’t superb.
Don’t think I’m going to be betting this race though as nearly every horse seems to have a decent chance and a lot of them have potential. Good luck though I’ll be rooting for the McManus horse as I think the team have big faith in it and can see him being a very strong horse in the future.

Went to Plumpton yesterday and conditions underfoot were certainly desperate. Simply Wings really seemed to relish it whereas No No Bingo never looked to be at ease at all maybe something wrong,as you say, or possibly ground just too heavy.
