Ginge: totally understand where you are coming from as Menorah will go off 10s biggest! My one ‘major’ concern was last years run, I would say bet to lay :-)

I can see your way of thought Gdc. But Menorah wasn’t in as good form last year, had first time cheek pieces and ran as if amiss. Jumping has let him down too in the past and is possible could do so again. But although made a couple of errors at Kempton it was under a different rider and on the whole improvement in form this term came hand in hand with better jumping.
It isn’t as if Menorah has an aversion to Cheltenham. Despite jumping mistakes placed at the Festival over fences (improved form since). Had really good record there as a hurdler, winning Supreme and several other non-Festival races.

Betfair and Charlie Hall is some of the strongest form around. Goes equally well on good or very soft ground. If returning to form (trainer has good record at the Festival) and jumping like he did at Wetherby and Haydock – will be difficult to beat… And he’s 25/1…!!!!

Now watch him fall at the first.

Despite what a lot of experts are saying, I actually believe this years renewal will be very competitive, Dynaste will take the beating IF they opt for the easy option (I don’t care what he does this week end, for me he won’t even place in any Gold Cup)!

Menorah as you say is without doubt an incorrect price at 25s

I agree on the face of it this year’s Ryanair might be the most competitive yet if they all turn up. However, the Gold Cup and Champion Chase look more winnable than usual. Take the favourite out of the Gold Cup and on form ratings the Ryanair leading players would stand a great chance of winning. Same goes for the Champion Chase, question marks hang over both Sprinter Sacre and Sire De Grugy in the Champion too. So I can see a few defections.

Whether Nicholls will carry through with

    Al Ferof

trying to make all in the Champion now that Dodging Bullets looks a title contender at the shorter trip and

    Champagne Fever

looks likely to run (a front runner sure to make a good pace back in trip). Champagne Fever is a strange one. To my mind stands a better (good) chance at the Ryanair trip, but Mullins and owner have at least two other 2m5f horses (

    Ballycasey

‘s been backed today), nothing else for 2m. Be surprised if

    Boston Bob

    doesn’t go Gold Cup.

Still hoping my long term bet

    Balder Success

might get a go at the minimum trip, imo has more pace than Kingy’s chosen one for that event

    Uxizandre

. Think they’ve made the right choice with

    Cue Card

to go for this, but seems a shadow of his former self.

    Don Cossak

has a great chance on the book, but fell on his only run in a double figure field (Cheltenham last year).

    Dynaste

is a tricky one. I backed him ante-post in this last year, agree with you about the Ryanair trip suiting him better, imo doubtful stayer in Gold Cup. However, on pure ability – only the favourite would be better. So the openness of the race is tempting for connections. If Dynaste is ever going to go for a Gold Cup it should be this year and I guess they want to find out about stamina at the weekend. Other Ryanair winners have gone on to win the Blue Riband. Although He wasn’t exactly at his best to win what looked a worse Ryanair renewal last year.

    Could see

    Taquin De Seiul

running in the Gold Cup rather than this (should have the stamina) if it wasn’t for Jonjo also having Holywell and Shutthefrontdoor. Has Cheltenham form and take the Betfair out and is very progressive. However, owner said they’re struggling to get him fit. Stable has

    John’s Spirit

, he’s certain to turn up, a Cheltenham horse but is he good enough?

    1:50 Cheltenham

7 points @ (whatever price is available in the morning) Black Thunder (min 15/2)

Looks as though Black Thunder is Pricewise, if you can get a good price then make it a main bet too. If he’s 9/1 suggest 31 points.
