Tricky tactical midweek Championship matches 7.45 to be wary of but a BTTS Double 1/2 pt interest bet appeals to me at 6/4+

Coventry’s goals at QPR at the weekend might encourage them to be positive tonight against Blackburn who are more than capable of scoring one or two themselves. If Watford get stuck into the Black Cats ahead of their Saturday derby match there may be a few goals there too.

Brom or Brum that is the ?

Not an easy puzzle to solve, this one  After far too much agonising I think an interest bet is in order and my little gamble involves this not turning out to be just another inevitable 0-0 or Sporting Sam Friday night 1-1 draw :negative: Some preparatory meanderings here for any in-play bettors!

Ignore the league table these two teams look like two average mid-table Championship teams. Birmingham’s attack has a whiff of Chelsea Light about it and its defence maybe more one of Chelsea Pensioners (and currently missing two of them) The team didn’t kick on from a winning home outing against Leeds in August. West Brom are a lively outfit with plenty of flare up front who can thrive against weaker opposition, and whose shot-stopper is in good form; he may be called upon tonight in front of his own static looking defence. Brom’s stats against Leeds weren’t great and it could be even argued that Brom havn’t met any really decent opponents in the past month. (Preston didn’t appear to turn up last week) Brum’s last two outings could be regarded as an ideal build-up for this key fixture, mixing it well in defeat against the Canaries and seeing off well the pesky Terriers on Tuesday. If the hosts can somehow control midfield and slow the game down they can eke out a 2-1 or 3-1 victory. If its a frantic back and forth Albion can prevail. Birmingham did the double last season over their neighbours and with the home support should have the psychological advantage here to belatedly raise their game again and stamp their authority from the start. An interesting test between two contrasting young and relatively inexperienced managers too.

Two different interest bets for two different scenarios!

    Birmingham Win & BTTS 5/1 (1/2 pt)

West Brom to Score Both Halves 7/2 (1/2 pt)

A Toffee goal today will feel like a win of sorts and hopefully the professional pride of the Blues will ensure one can be manufactured. No point defending for 90mins! The 6/4 about Liverpool Win BTTS is being taken. (1pt)

    Crystal palace vs Spurs
Looks a good un here for in form flying high spurs to grab another win but the bet that interests me is the special about Son to have two shot and Maddison to manage one at 4/1.
I’d say 5/1 would be a fairer price nonetheless both are bang in form and palace who are attack and counter attack oriented will always give up chances.

Son 2+ shots on target & Maddison 1+ shot on target (was 2/1) @ 4/1
    Double Up Boost
    Crystal Palace v Tottenham
    SKYBET MAX £10
Son is thriving now that Harry Kane is away plying his trade elsewhere. That ambient feeling of being loved and valued is something a sportsman feeds off and it engenders confidence.
This ties in nicely with the Rugby 🏉 where a youngster called Henry Arundell will put his name onto the world stage and have you wondering why his wasn’t the first name on the teamsheet for every match in this festival of free money. I’ve got him down to score a try at anytime at around 11/8 and to score a try hat trick at 28/1.

England to score 10+ points in each half maximum win bet @ evens.

Worth looking at Corners market in Selhurst Park game. Look at Palace’s Home Corner record this season. No wonder they’re one of the least confident home sides in league! With Chelsea game in 11 days Spurs may take it easy in 2nd half if in lead. Will take a chance on Spurs winning race to 5 corners at 5/6 with the Magic Sign.

RP’s tip Spurs Win Under 3.5 goals may well oblige too

Both those teams should be arrested for serving up that rubbish. Imagine travelling down to London for that larf! Not hopeful for 2nd half.

Citeh’s performance at Arsenal suggested they may struggle against the best in Europe but can’t see why they can’t score a decisive victory over the neighbours later.

Tonight’s midland derby is one to be wary of from a punter’s perspective but I’ll try to apply my dodgy “Pool’s Panel” logic to it. While it should be high octane both sides would probably settle for a point. but it’s worth viewing perhaps from an in play perspective and for future reference. Unsurprisingly the Post has settled for the binary Unders bet as it’s likely the Sky Blues will adopt a fairly defensive approach. My thoughts are that the Baggies with their creative attack are more than capable of broaching that defence and may well open the game up early on. Coventry aren’t as physically imposing and don’t cover the space like we saw Brum do against Brom recently so the Baggies may find more space to attack. Coventry are sleek enough themselves and impressive going forward but have not converted all their endeavour to goals that often as a result of ineptitude and sheer bad luck – cost them promotion last year. That five point advantage Brom have in the crowded mid-table might just be significant so if you have an account balance like Uncle Sam’s I’d say stick a tenner on West Brom & BTTS @ 11/2 as a value bet and go from there.

It is after all the Careabout Cup and our BF friends have advised that the weather may be inclement in West London so my little investment is only a 1/2 pt. That said it should be a Chelsea Cakewalk in theory at least against the The Rovers of the Championship. If I were Pochettino I’d have kept the first team back for 45 mins detention tonight and demanded 3 first half goals and an increase of speed of attack of 25% on that visited upon the Bees at the weekend. He appears to be thinking more or less on these lines judging by the line-out. Rovers are not much better than average in physicality and penetration by Championship standards but they are fairly handy at striking at goal – hence my goal appeals from them in recent weeks with little success! I was a bit greedy this morning and backed Chelsea H/T F/T and no less than 5 first half corners for 7/4’ish. Rovers might contribute one or two of these hopefully. Sadly not being televised live. Enjoy those televised games!

Foxtrot or Foxes play cute? We”ll know tonight what Leicester have been holding in reserve. Evens is skinny enough for a win tonight against the Peacocks. I prefer my Win and Under 2.5 @ 9/2 1pt and 13/8 for the Halftime win isn’t bad either. Leicester are likely to up their game to make a statement but I can’t see the Foxes entertaining a goal orgy with the opposition

or stretching things too far for a win in 2nd half. Leeds haven’t met this quality of test in the Championship this season. Let’s see how they cope! Will feathers fly?
