I’ve backed Heaven Sent. Whilst I’d stop short of suggesting Darjina is one to swerve, she hasn’t been consistent enough for me to warrant her current quotes. It will take an improved performance from Heaven Sent, though I certainly don’t think to the tune of 10 lb, and I think if Moore could ride the Ascot race again he wouldn’t go for home so soon.
July 9, 2008 at 13:49 #172508Darjina not consistent ? I would argue the exact opposite. If she gets her conditions, she’ll be bang there like she is every time.
July 9, 2008 at 13:54 #172510Aswell as Infallible I do quite like the Schiergen filly Briseida @ 14-1, think she could be capable of a very good run on this ground, but obviously needs to improve on her german 1000 win.
July 9, 2008 at 14:00 #172513Judging from the time of the first race it is not yet that soft.
Under three seconds slower than standard it looks Good with a few good-soft spots.

Value Is EverythingJuly 9, 2008 at 14:03 #172514Is it actually raining ?
July 9, 2008 at 14:08 #172515I went for the 3 Bahamian Bountys in the 2 o’oclock in the hope their would be cut and one of them won (dont know where the other two came though), so its at best good in my view. Saying that though, Spanish Bounty and Tawash held their prominent positions for a long way there so perhaps the pace was slow. Usually sticking to the front is a good-fm thing or a slow pace thing.
July 9, 2008 at 14:43 #172525Darjina a non-runner.
Heaven Sent is rated 111.
Darjina whilst not officially rated, must be at least 2 pounds superior to Finsceal Beo (119)Hence, the 10 pounds.
FWIW, I would probably back Heaven Sent now in current conditions.

Is Darjina an unlucky loser or are we trying to make excuses. Personally I am always wary about horses that finish second alot because I feel the horse has got the ability to win but does he/she have the mentality as she’s been there and done it won connections over £1,000,000 in prize money but why’s she failing to put her races to bed? and I don’t think Infallible will be so giving. Just another name to mention Nahoodh, could she put together a decent performance back at Newmarket on good ground, at 16-1 she is very big price.
Infallible place @ 2.00
Nahoodh e/w @ 16-1
Darjina lay @ 3.75
Kasumi e/w @ 40-1Thats going to be my betting strategy spreading out £200 in bets.
Good luck guys
Good result here, Hope everyone else had a positive result
July 9, 2008 at 15:29 #172538Very good result there mr wilson, didnt hit anything in the falmouth (Infallible second) but its been a good day nonetheless.

Great effort, well done.
July 9, 2008 at 15:41 #172543Well well well…..I wonder what reason we can find for that in relation to her last run…..Francome just said it, stable form!
Francome came up with another questionable statement about the Falmouth.
"There is not much pace". Had he looked at the form? Pacemaker Hip and Lady Gloria both prominent runners, Heaven Sent and Nahoodh can race prominently or be held up. Thought Jimbo was going to contradict him but stopped himself.Read my assesment Marble, it was all there.

Value Is EverythingJuly 9, 2008 at 16:52 #172553Not a lot to do with the form of the trainer, in my opinion. She’s just a far better filly over a straight mile. I think she’s pretty effective on any ground, really. Her Guineas fifth was on good to firm and she’s got plenty of speed, but she’s a also big girl and obviously handles, maybe appreciates, a little bit of cut.
It was easy to see why she’d run a big race today. It was well documented that she hadn’t come to herself in time to expect a big effort in the Dubai Duty Free. Hard luck stories are often exaggerated in racing, but she would have won the English Guineas with a clear run. The Irish Guineas was never going to play to her strengths and new, seemingly wrong, tactics were applied in he Coronation.
Give this filly a patient ride over a straight mile and she could beat any filly in Europe. She also has an abundance of speed and considering a straight course is, in my opinion, the key to her, six furlongs wouldn’t be a problem.
Infallible is an absolute star. She’s as talented a filly as any in the country, but she just doesn’t quite get the mile. The impression I got as far back as the Guineas was that she wouldn’t be too inconvenienced by dropping back to six. She travels so well her her races and, as we witnessed in the Nell Gwyn over seven, she has the gears to compete at that trip.
See currently holds entries for the Sussex Stakes, Celebration Mile and Matron Stakes, so it appears that she will be kept over the mile. Although, I haven’t heard John Gosden’s post race analysis.
July 9, 2008 at 16:56 #172555Oh and I do hope Bosranic backed it today as I read the pain of her guineas run was actually still hurting Bosra!
No, I didn’t.
I fancied her strongly today, but as odd as this may sound, I wasn’t ‘in the mood’ for a flutter.
Just delighted to see her land a big one as a 3YO. She deserves it after her unlucky classic defeat. A lovely filly, too.
Take Care
July 9, 2008 at 17:13 #172558When I looked at the betting at about 1.30 today Nahood was really strong in the market. I think she has just hit her best agin today and seems to like a slow pace.
I think Nahood could really be forgiven her last two runs, as quite a few fillies never got into the irish guineas and the Coronation was a very different race to newmarket.
Its one of those that you think of in hindsight, but she deserves all the credit she gets, shes without doubt one of the best filly milers around on her day.
One thing she and infallible have shown today at newmarket (as 3yos), is that 3-1 looks a bit big on Lush Lashes for the Nassau.
July 9, 2008 at 17:54 #172564Me and Bosranic, we always agree.
Well, may be not.
The official going on Guineas day may have been Good-firm, my form book says good. At the Curragh there were many during the day not to act on the firm surface. Ascot was very firm, though tac tics may have had something to do with it.
You might be right about the trainer Bosranic, but the fact Johnston was in very poor form at Ascot and is in very good form now, would be a big coincidence in my opinion.Sorry to hear you did not back it Richard.

Value Is EverythingJuly 9, 2008 at 18:33 #172567Well done the Nahood camp.
July 10, 2008 at 01:06 #172596What was wrong with the ride by Ryan Moore on Heaven Sent?
Thought he rode it well, just beaten by a better horse. May or may not have been second without interferance.
