Agree Marlingford. Step backwards
Age shouldn’t come into it he should known better if in latter stages of his careerVf x
March 30, 2022 at 20:12 #1590424Total cop out. Just made up a reduced figure in the hope this will just go away. Let’s hope we don’t end here again and have the usual fudge. It shouldn’t have been reduced gor the simple reason that nothing has changed to warrant a reduction.
Bryony frost has been much quieter so it seems the closed shop attitude has prevailed. A sorry ending to the saga. Certainly won’t encourage whistleblowers to come forward in the future.March 31, 2022 at 00:56 #1590447Agree mickeyjp. Lee Mottershead’s account of the appeal hearing in the Racing Post makes it sound even more dismal. It very much gives the impression of out of touch racing insiders closing ranks once again.
If Dunne had behaved like that in any modern workplace his position would have been terminated for good. In this context 10 months seems a feeble punishment.
March 31, 2022 at 14:03 #1590488It’s almost like racing thinks it’s fighting some sort of culture war and you need to prove your toughness to be a jockey. Anybody who rides flat horses at blistering speed or a horse like un de sceaux is incredibly brave IMHO without resorting to the crap dunne came out with. Of course in any other industry the behaviour wouldn’t be tolerated but racing seems to think they live in their own wee world. As I’ve said before frosts lack of rides speaks to the industry closing ranks and she has certainly lost her bubbliness. I’m sure walking out with p mullins is easing the pain and the possibility of moving to Ireland where they don’t seem to have the same issues. Just a bad look for racing which could have serious repercussions in that fewer young ladies will want to try and make a career in racing. Just an incredibly awful look.
March 31, 2022 at 14:49 #1590493Would Mr Dunne be paying for his
legal team or would it be covered
in some other ways.March 31, 2022 at 19:34 #1590520Some scathing comment on the conduct of the appeal hearing:
March 31, 2022 at 20:10 #1590525Wow, scathing indeed.
If Bryony sees it the same way as Lydia is she going to want to continue racing after that?
Value Is EverythingMarch 31, 2022 at 20:20 #1590528Lydia’s comments are well worth a look.
Anthony Boswood QC, chairman of the Appeals Panel, should realistically be charged with conduct prejudicial to the integrity, impartiality, and good reputation of appeals panels.
When Dunne resumes riding on 9 October it’s almost a given that he will be welcomed back into the weighing-room with an enthusiasm not seen since the return of the Prodigal Son. Nothing will have been learned.
I find this dispiriting.
March 31, 2022 at 21:40 #1590540So many good points made by Lydia Hislop. Each article I read about this appeal makes it sound even worse. The chair had clearly made up his mind before it had even begun.
March 31, 2022 at 21:41 #1590541Surely Bryony will be heading to Ireland in the near future ….. This may well excelerate this
March 31, 2022 at 22:55 #1590555Shocking essentially closed door appeal. We shouldn’t be surprised at the outcome and the repercussions of it. As you were guys. To say its inappropriate is a huge understatement. Pouring oil onto the fire. Dispiriting indeed and says everything that’s wrong with racing today.
March 31, 2022 at 23:09 #1590557I think Jimmy should of had a word in Mr Dunne’s ear some time ago.
April 1, 2022 at 07:57 #1590571Hmm, having read that, I feel I called this one wrong.
Ten months, 18 months – I maintain either is a substantial and appropriate ban but it’s now clear that while I might have no issue with the revised duration of the ban I have a definite issue with the environment (Old Boys’ Club) in which it came about.
That environment is more damaging for racing than the offence and the offender himself.
As others have said, it sends the message: “What’s changed? Nothing.”

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 1, 2022 at 09:48 #1590583Exactly Ian, well said. Sadly the Bryony Frost case has proved yet again that the main party that gets punished as a result of whistleblowing is the whistleblower themselves.
April 1, 2022 at 09:55 #1590584“Bryony Frost has been much quieter so it seems the closed shop attitude has prevailed.”
If by quieter you mean out of the public eye, that is partly due to Nicholls having a quiet time. For example, on Gold Cup day he only had one runner and that was in the Hunter Chase.
It meant Frost, one of the most recognisable jockeys and popular with the racing public, had no choice other than to go to Fakenham.
Things might turn back in her favour. It is only a few months ago that she rode two high profile Grade 1 winners.
April 1, 2022 at 14:08 #1590619Predictably shameful stuff. Typically superb article from Lydia Hislop.
Exactly what century are these people operating in?

April 3, 2022 at 22:21 #1591027What are you lot on about? You’re looking at this case from a perspective of Frost being the victim.
She’s the one accused of riding in a dangerous and aggressive manner. Claims backed up by Tom Scu at the original hearing. Robbie Dunne remonstrated with her about it and Frost countered with her own barrage of insults. She’s not felt threatened, bullied or intimated enough to not fire back.
Then she’s made a series of accusations against Dunne, nobody else backed her up to substantiate anything she said.
She’s played the victim card and received the benefit of the fact if you’re a white male in this day and age you’re part of some kind of tyrannical patriarchy who is oppressive and toxic to any other demographic in society.
