Hi All. Sorry for going a little off topic here but I thought someone on this thread might be able to settle a puzzler for me.
Does anyone know the reason that French Courses have a 14:08 race (as opposed to 14:05 or 14:10)?
This has been the cause of much discussion in the office and I really hope I can find a resolution soon!
Many Thanks!
It’s for TV purposes.
On top of normal covergae on Equidia (horse racing channel, french equivalent of Racing UK / ATR), the Quinte + race is shown on Public TV (France 3) when run during a day meeting, and they’re on air from 3:00 to 3:15 pm (French time). Hence the 3:08 timing for the Quinte + race, so that they can still show the race in case of a false start / horse running loose / short delay.
That’s for weekends only.
During the week, I think the start time of the Quinte + race is 1:53 pm CET. For the same reasons obviously.
