Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe 2010:
Nakayama Festa
Ten days before the start of the 89th Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, played Sunday, October 3, 2010 the racecourse Longchamp. Nakayama Festa and income came from behind to align the start of this prestigious event. The horse is on his shoulders the hopes and Japanese, mistrust, can cause an upset.

Nakayama Festa: Japanese revelation
Who would have predicted in 2009 that would Nakayama Festa ways to express themselves in such a prestigious Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe? For, from its beginnings, big hopes had been placed in this son of a very good standard Japanese, Stay Gold (father also a very good Dream Journey). But the least we can say is that Nakayama Festa proved very disappointing in the year of its three years, chained in the cons-performance program of traditional Japanese turf … To better detonated four years!
Nakayama Festa impressed on his debut in November 2008, winning his first race since its first release. No time to lose to those around him for his second race, Nakayama Festa rushed departure of a Listed … and win! The colt is unbeaten in his two years. No doubt, the seed Champion! It is put to rest during the month of December, to return in January.
The year started well for 3 years Nakayama Festa. He is second in January 2009, a Group III, Keisei Hai, his victory outside of a neck. Three months later, the colt back on track. Things are getting serious, since it is the departure of Japanese 2,000 Guineas, the Satsuki Sho (Group I). And, of course, great hopes are placed in it. Hopes fallen! Nakayama Festa is 8th (of 18, certainly) of the test. It makes up somewhat, after one month and a half, finishing 4th in Tokyo Yushun (Group I), the Japanese equivalent of the Epsom Derby. Rather disappointing. The colt was rested for the summer and reappeared in September. He reassures his entourage, emerging victorious from a Group II. He who had not won in 10 months!
The performance seems reassuring. The Directorate Kikuko Sho (Group I), during the Japanese St Leger. And disappointment again: Nakayama Festa is a laborious 12th. Nothing goes by arranging: it is in December, from a "modest" Group III, the Chunichi Shimbun Hai. Verdict: 13th. The questions begin to arise: Nakayama Festa, after all he has shown two years, would it not evolved in the right direction? His entourage was not discouraged. Nakayama Festa return to the slopes at 4 years.
Well they made it! After four months of rest, the horse made its reappearance on the racecourse. First in a simple race conditions, the Metropolitan Stakes. Victory! No time to lose, he must take advantage of this good luck: in June 2010, Nakayama Festa appears ready from a Group I, the Takarazuka Kinen. Victory! In the head of his entourage, a dream is emerging, taking shape. Run the Arc de Triomphe, walk in the footsteps of El Condor Pasa and Deep Impact … And do better than them. In August 2010, Nakayama Festa boards the plane. Branch France, its green centers trainings, and Longchamp somewhere in my head … The horse acclimatized well, and initially presents the Prix Foy, September 12, 2010. And, faith, Nakayama shown in Festa, faith of a small horse! It falls on a bone named Duncan, a brave as any English, which is led from start to finish, driving his little victory. Whatever. If he did not win, Nakayama Festa is a good second, and learned to know the track at Longchamp. It still leaves a good impression, the best part of "Team Japan". And now dreams of walking in the footsteps of El Condor Pasa and Deep Impact (without doping) … And to do better than them.September 27, 2010 at 18:24 #319726Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe 2010:
Marinous
Eight days before the start of the 89th Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, played Sunday, October 3, 2010 the racecourse Longchamp. This season, the race seems to be open, unlike last year where the Stars Sea showed a rare superiority. Today, let’s look at the candidacy of Marinous, winner of the Grand Prix de Deauville, which should be supplemented by his entourage to attend the event.

A year of 2 years without success
Competitor led by Freddy Head, Marinous began his career at the age of 2 years. In four public appearances in 2008, the son of Numerous will fail to cross the pole head. His first two attempts in the summer of 2008 in Racing B have resulted in two fourth places. It comes down to class and earned his first honorable mention in a race won by F Between Two Waters prior to clinch third place in a Race E.
Finally a successful prestige!
Rested with the month of October, Marinous made his return to the track in March. He finally got his first hit in his third appearance in 2009 at the price Tombray, Course D played at Chantilly in April. Freddy Head’s protégé will then align four second places behind good competitors. Marinous will successively break the teeth of the Eagles on Cirrus, Manighar, Investment and War Power. With these runners of honor, he will then try his luck in Listed. In the Prix Turenne, played at the scene of his first hit in late September, he had to settle for third behind Shahwardi and Makt. Saeed Nasser Al Romaithi Acquires Marinous Sales at the Arc. At his first appearance under its new colors, Marinous gets his first hit at race-List. It is necessary at the expense of accuracy in the Grand Prix Hermoun North played the Crusader-Laroche.
Emirates to arrive at Deauville at Longchamp
Newly acquired by Saeed Nasser Al Romaithi, Marinous will then conduct a winter campaign in the UAE where it is placed under the drive of M Al Muhairi. He participated in two handicaps to Meydan where he finished second and fourth. He then tries his luck with success in Doha on March 25 by winning "The Emir’s Trophy." Following this success, Marinous returned to France in the boxes Freddy Head, and is put to rest. He makes his return on August 8 at the price Reux a Listed-race played in Deauville. That day, it behaves honorably, taking a fine third place. Satisfied by the conduct of his protégé, Freddy Head the present from the Grand Prix de Deauville, Group II played in 2,500 m. During the last highlight of the summer meeting in Deauville, Marinous, always seen in a good position, makes the best 150 meters of the goal and won the first group with authority in his career as an outsider at odds before Redwood competitor who has won a Group I in Canada. Although the winner of one of the preparatory Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, Marinous does not appear on the entry list for the world championship of thoroughbred. The idea of the supplement will then rise in his entourage. Saeed Nasser Al Romaithi seeing him as a superb opportunity to own a horse at the start of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe take its decision and decided to supplement (it will pay the sum of 100,000 euros Thursday, September 30). Horse late Marinous has changed between 3 and 4 years. He will appear at the top of his departure to the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and try to spring a surprise in a 2010 edition which appears open.

Planter
Eight days before the start of the 89th Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, played Sunday, October 3, 2010 the racecourse Longchamp. This season, the race seems to be open, unlike last year where the Stars Sea showed a rare superiority. Today, let’s look at the candidacy of Planter, second in the Prix du Jockey Club and had to admit defeat Behkabad behind twice in the Grand Prix de Paris and Prix Niel. Attention to resident Elie Lellouche, who always comes in the great days!

Victorious debut
This son of Danehill Dancer, trained by Elie Lellouche, did not miss his competitive debut at the age of 2 years. It was in Deauville August 7, 2009 in Price Crevecoeur, a race F conditions. That day, the short distance of 1600 meters, it was ahead smoothly and Wealthy Twinlight. Two months later at Chantilly, he had to settle for second place behind Arasin in the Price of Eagles, a race B. Always the same distance. Planter ended his year by 2 years in style at Saint-Cloud this time. He won the Award The Capuchin, a race before B Bright and Attiki Odo, still over 1600 meters.
2010: the rise
We looked forward to the early Planter next level and we should not be disappointed. On April 11 at Longchamp, for its first Group II in the Prix Noailles, a distance more selective (2100 meters), the partner of Anthony Crastus banged on the head. It was necessary to Rewilding Land and Ivory, two serious contenders. A promising success. Therefore, this 3-year-old did not hesitate to Wildenstein stable address the cream of the class. In the Prix du Jockey Club (Group I), June 6 at Chantilly, there were only Lope de Vega to block his path. But the resident Elie Lellouche still ahead of Bread and a Lost Behkabad he would recover twice on his way in the coming months.
The match-Behkabad Planter
The second round was under the Hippodrome de Longchamp on July 14 last in the Grand Prix de Paris in 2400 meters. And that day, Planter, despite a late race courageous, would not be at the party! He had to admit defeat with a length behind his great rival Behkabad a hard horse to exercise. Two months later, on September 12 last year, always at Longchamp, the two rivals ended up as the parade in the Prix Niel (Group II) on the classic distance of 2400 meters. After a tussle of beauty and a mano a mano over the last 200 meters, Planter’s been a delusion for the win, but blew a short head first in the vicinity of the pole by Devil Behkabad. We look forward to their reunion in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe while competition will be much more severe.

A son of Galileo undefeated 2-year …
The career of this son of the star stallion Galileo begins at age 2, Ireland, specifically Fairyhouse. And the fairies are in fact considered this colt at the age of 3 years, already has a beautiful and impressive career. Victorious in his first public outing, Cape Blanco manages to remain unbeaten at age 2 years. His second release takes place in July 2009, a Group III, the Tyros Stakes at Leopardstown. And the colt is already showing progress sacred, winning with disconcerting ease: at the finish, he finished ahead of three lengths over his nearest competitor. With this in hand Group III, the coach decides Aidan O’Brien is logical to have a go in Group II. This will be the Futurity Stakes at Fairyhouse. And win, of course.
Between confirmation and disappointment …
Comes the time to pass the winter and delicate 2 to 3 years, which fails on all-comers. The colt made a return directly to a Group II, the Dante Stakes in May 2010. In this race, many answers are expected: how is it? And will he beat a newcomer who promises to be one of the phenomena of his generation, Workforce? The answer is final. Cape Blanco signs a return victorious, winning the best 3 years of the Channel. High hopes are based. Aidan O’Brien made the decision to ignore the Epsom Derby (Workforce overflown by the O’Brien stable is represented by Jan Vermeer) in particular, and prepare its youngest champion at the prestigious Prix du Jockey Club. Cape Blanco arrives in Chantilly is one of the favorites of the race, and his performance has been all the more disappointing. The colt is transparent, non-existent, unrecognizable. He who had arrived unbeaten in France leaves with the bitter taste of defeat. No way to skimp either! Aidan O’Brien believes his colt and decided to run in the Irish Derby, an event which is one of the great masters. Returned home, Cape Blanco is found, and won the Group I (his first Group I) before two of his fellow box! And succeeds Fame and Glory. All is well, finally.
After a month of rest, Cape Blanco returned to England, in Arc summer, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. It is expected as a favorite. But then comes a strange horse, named Harbinger, which took everyone by winning the short race by 11 lengths. Cape Blanco is second, totally helpless about this revelation, this star which, fortunately for him (unfortunately for the races), was to retire right after the event, for injury. Harbinger less, which should alleviate this Aidan O’Brien. Cape Blanco is then towards the Irish Champion Stakes, won in 2009 by Sea The Stars. And here he faces the beautiful world: Rip Van Winkle, another fantastic O’Brien or Twice Over. It prevail over 5 lengths, having made all the running in the lead, giving end to end. It was September 4, 2010.
Admiration and questions
The colt has had a month to recover, and O’Brien seems confident that it can achieve performance in the Arc de Triomphe. Remains whether these Irish Champion Stakes will, nonetheless, not leave a legacy to the young champion. Cape Blanco also discover Longchamp on this occasion, and return to the territory’s most crushing defeat of his career, France. It will also feature Behkabad and Planter, who had preceded him at the Jockey Club, and will face his fellow Fame And Glory box, well protected by Aidan O’Brien. Bid Cape Blanco, finally, we retain the certainty of a brilliant horse, but many gray areas and questions with a shovel. The conclusion might be this: one win, at the sight of her name, would make sense … But it also conceals a good deal of surprise.

Victory Pisa
Six days before the start of the 89th Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, played Sunday, October 3, 2010 the racecourse Longchamp. After Nakayama Festa, we present Victory Pisa, another Japanese full of ambition. Winner of the 2000 Guineas on his land, he will attempt to take its game next Sunday.

For second and then won his first three times at 2 years is really at the age of 3 years as promising Victory Pisa take its full dimension. Hochi Hai Yayoi winner of Sho (Group II) for his return March 7, 2010, by half a length in advance, he then goes to the Japanese 2000 Guineas (Satsuki Sho) with legitimate ambitions.
In this prestigious event, played on April 18 Nakayama Racecourse, Pisa Victory flies to victory against its 17 opponents of the day. A length and a half punishes his superiority over his dolphin. Always ridden by Yasunari Iwata, he then introduced in the Tokyo Yushun, ie the Japanese Derby on May 30 in Tokyo. It ranks third in the Group I, Eishin behind Flash and Rose Kingdom in it’s first try racing left hand.
Not ridiculous for its debut in France
Early on, his entourage said his ambition to present at the start of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, and the subject rises from Yutaka Take, iconic Japanese jockey. Thus, Pisa Victory makes his first steps on our soil in the Prix Niel, Group II Preparatory played on September 12 last Hippodrome de Longchamp. Behkabad came near and mid-row planter right outside, he could not bear comparison then, the lack of competition is being felt.
Still, the impression left by the son of Neo Universe was more favorable for a first contact on the course of 2400 meters. As Nakayama Festa, Pisa Victory will come next Sunday with the ambition to do at least as good as El Condor Pasa, best performer of the rising sun in the main event with his second place behind Montjeu in 1999.September 29, 2010 at 17:39 #320069Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe 2010:

This season, the race seems to be open, unlike last year where the Stars Sea showed a rare superiority. It looks Cavalryman third of the race in 2009 but has come a long way in a year … And not really in the right direction.

Cavalryman … return!
That would be an Arc de Triomphe without departing Godolphin? This year, Cavalryman who represent the blues, returning to the place of his former exploits. Remember: in 2009, came third Cavalryman’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe behind Sea The Stars and, of course, Youmzain. But now, there is a but … In 2009, Cavalryman shone in the training of Andre Fabre. But in 2010, the horse came under the tutelage of Sead Bin Suroor … And never reappeared Cavalryman as we know. His mission in 2010 looks at the sight of her last performance, very difficult.
The peak under Andre Fabre
Cavalryman subdued beginning at age 2 years. Fourth for his first race in the Prix de Fontenoy at Longchamp in September (including Varenar ahead), he needed during his second public outing in St. Cloud in October. Winter comes and the time of rest. Cavalryman reappeared in 2009 in Listed, the Prix François Mathet. But it is a throw, and he ranks fourth (including anticipated Fuissé). Throughout the first half of this period, short Cavalryman in St. Cloud. He participated in the Prix Greffulhe (Group II, and second in a Cutlass Bay, the story somewhat similar), then back to winning the Prix Matchem a Listed (before the Eagles any good Cirrus). The habit of success seems stuck … On July 14, 2009, Cavalryman going into high gear by capturing its first Group I, the Grand Prix de Paris. Of the 2,400 meters at Longchamp. The Arc de Triomphe begins to announce itself seriously
The decline in Bin Suroor …
The tacit arrangement between Andre Fabre and Godolphin stables happen. It is time to leave the box Cavalryman of the French coach to incorporate those of the coach house of the stable Maktoum Bin Suroor one of Saed. The first steps of the horse for his new mentor will be the UAE in March 2010. The horse is present at the start of a Group II. He will only seventh, behind competitors like Red Desire or Gloria Campeao. Less than a month later, Cavalryman participates in the Dubai Sheema Classic (Group I). And finished fifth, a good distance from Dar Re Mi At this point, we say that the sand track is perhaps not particularly preferred surface of the horse, and all will be well better on grass. But no.
Cavalryman is presented from the Coronation Cup. He ranks fifth (of nine), three good lengths of Fame And Glory, it was nevertheless widely anticipated in the Arc de Triomphe 2009. While it is preceded by excellent horses: Fame And Glory, therefore, but also Sariska, Youmzain and High Heeled. However, the sight of her in 2009, Cavalryman seemed able to give a much better response to all its competitors. The descent into hell continues! 12 days later, the horse is the departure of Prince of Wales’s Stakes. And coming in last. Certainly, one can still find him an apology: he would run closer, he trailed by byword and Twice Over. But to justify the 12 lengths separating him from his nearest competitor? Not sure.
Cavalryman back a month later on the track, in the International Stakes. And there is better, after all, finished fourth as a Rip Van Winkle on its distance. But still remains good with 4 lengths of the third test, byword. And it is not his last outing in the Preis von Baden Baden, which may reassure his supporters. It is the third of a lot less spicy than otherwise he will face in the Arc. So unless Cavalryman finds wings on the Longchamp racecourse, the scene of his former exploits, the Arc 2010 looks augurs well under less favorable than in 2009 for the "Blue" from the ordeal.October 1, 2010 at 09:29 #320258What a draw!

At 4 days of departure of the 89th Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, played Sunday, October 3, 2010 the racecourse Longchamp. This season, the race seems to be open, unlike last year where the Stars Sea showed a rare superiority. Today, focus on the horse of German origin, slowly but surely asserted itself at the top level of French races. Timos attempts, however, for the first time his luck in Group I. Surprise for?

A horse copy
At the sight of his music, nothing can be criticized Timos. This brave horse at the finish of all races, yet, his participation at the Arc de Triomphe can leave a little confused. Often placed in Group II and Group III, Timos has never won beyond the level Listed … And will, in Arc de Triomphe, his first attempt at Group I. And in the best group I of the world, please!
An early career modest but growing
Timos began his career relatively late, at the age of 3 years in July 2008, seizing a respectable second place. It be needed a month later in an F at Clairefontaine, before returning to his home country and get a new second place in Baden Baden. Back in France. The colt up the category, and dominates a Listed (Price Turenne), October 3, 2010 in St. Cloud. Then comes winter and time for rest.
Timos is back in March 2009, again in a Listed, and again at Saint-Cloud. And he wins! Inevitably, with two Listed in hand, it is time for the top category: Group III. Thus Timos arises, in May 2009, starting price Hedouville at Longchamp. The disappointment is the rendezvous, since it ranks sixth. Okay! Less than a month later, the pretty chestnut departs from a Group II, the Grand Prix de Chantilly. He ranks fifth out of seven will be the last release Timos for 4 years. The revelation in 2010
After this somewhat disappointing year 2009, it is with caution that Timos is reviewed on track in 2010. But the horse is like good wine: it gets better with time. He returned in April 2010 on his favorite race track: Saint-Cloud. In a small D, one is tempted to say … But the performance is there: Timos wins … 15 lengths! It is then time to go to get serious … And follow a well-known!
Back to square one Group III. Timos is initially Hedouville Award in May 2010 at Longchamp. Like last year, in the same event, he can not win, settling for fifth place (of 6). His entourage was not discouraged, and this (again!) From Grand Prix de Chantilly, 2010. And this time he did not disappoint, being a courageous second behind his rival Allied Powers. Given this renewed vitality, Timos will initially present a much more vigorous Group II: the Prix Foy, September 12, 2010 at Longchamp. Faced with horses as byword, Darykana or Japanese superstar Nakayama Festa, the mission will be difficult. But faith of a German horse, Timos is not ready to let it go. And whether to admit defeat by Duncan, they played a funny turn, and by Nakayama Festa, a close second, Timos will still pay the luxury of beating the byword any good (not necessarily on the distance) Daryakana and courageous. A performance that earned him his ticket to the glorious Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe …
One thing is sure: if the mission Timos certainly prove very difficult in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, we can count on the courage of the horse, the heart bigger than himself, and give everything he was against the best horses in the world. Maybe it’ll just give him a place. For victory, it seems, paper, impossible. But so impossible is not French, may be he is not German either.October 1, 2010 at 09:37 #320260Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe 2010: Behkabad
Three days before the start of the 89th Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, played on Sunday, October 3, 2010 Hippodrome de Longchamp . This season, the race seems to be open, unlike last year where the Stars Sea showed a rare superiority. Today, in honor Behkabad, one of the revelations of 2010, which slowly but surely, has emerged at the highest level, to be considered one of the favorites from the Arc de Triumph 2010.

A flamboyant year 2 years
Once will not hurt, let’s look at Aga Khan trained by Jean-Claude Rouget! The son of Cape Cross (like Sea The Stars, winner of the Arc 2009 … Towards a doubling of the standard?) Will debut on a discrete Racecourse province (La Teste), as his coach appreciates them, s imposing narrowly. From humble beginnings, yes, but for a fantastic rise! For its second sorites in August 2008, it will outperform all good Arasin, misses, again. Arasin find that in September 2009, a Group III this time at Longchamp. This is the price of the Oaks and again, Behkabad required (less than a length), thus being undefeated for her 2 years and walking, with this latest victory, directly in the footsteps of two great champions Dalakhani and Bago …
2010, the revelation
However, Behkabad is not yet, at that time, considered as one of the favorites of the future Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. The horse does not lack means, of course, is undefeated, yes, but not yet fully shown the class to access if this fabulous race. In reality, Behkabad exploded in 2010, can contribute under revelation of the year! A revelation which will however increase.
Behkabad makes a modest return in 2010 Listed in which it ranks as the third! Far winner No Risk At All elsewhere. Before taking his revenge on the latter, in May, the Prix de Guiche. Winning a neck! To believe that Behkabad is not a fan of unnecessary distances to the finish … Then came the decisive moment: Group I. Behkabad is initially Prix du Jockey Club 2010, an outsider. It must be said that the colt is faced with the elite of his generation: Lope de Vega, Planter and Cape Blanco! And he surprises are hardly expected such a feast. It is not first, but is a respectable fourth victim of unfortunate circumstances of the race. The eyes begin to ask more closely at this beautiful horse …
Retry in a Group I: Grand Prix de Paris, July 14, 2010. Behkabad addresses for the first time the distance of 2,400 meters, which is more at Longchamp. And seems to love! He found one that has become his main rival, Planter (who had preceded him in the Jockey Club). The duel is awaited for, with Jan Vermeer arbitrator. Finally, Behkabad takes his revenge on Planter, winning a half-length and strength back from his opponent. Again, without overdoing it, without much fireworks might say! However, at this time, Jean-Claude Rouget’s entourage Behkabad take themselves to seriously dream of the Arc de Triomphe, which becomes their No. 1 goal. Preserved during the rest of the summer is a fresh Behkabad but only 80% of its resources to be present at the start of the Prix Niel at the weekend in preparation for the Arc. And found that … Planter! The duel is expected again. And will take place. And, again, that devil Behkabad returned to play head to steal the victory Planter, which seemed to go for success and revenge. But no! Behkabad right thing, like usual, but surely enough, after a great recovery while growth in the final straight. The Aga Khan’s colt took the opportunity to reaffirm its capabilities in the 2,400 meters Longchamp … And fully intends to do the same on the day of the Arc de Triomphe. And that’s a favorite of the Arc de Triomphe …
By winning the Grand Prix de Paris and Prix Niel, Behkabad has emerged as a big favorite of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, very open this year. It is true that the colt has shown steady progress, but many are still skeptical of his candidacy. Perhaps because he earns each time narrowly … No coups in its successes, where competitors such as Fame And Glory, Cape Blanco or Sarafina were sometimes imposed well detached from their competitors … But is it so important victory sometimes hangs head. The opposition will certainly be much relieved, more than he has already faced, but perhaps Behkabad still find a way to put a head … Winning! And provide a first Arc de Triomphe deserved to Jean-Claude Rouget.
October 1, 2010 at 09:41 #320262Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe 2010:
Lope de Vega
At 3 days of departure of the 89th Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, played Sunday, October 3, 2010 the racecourse Longchamp. This season, the race seems to be open, unlike last year where the Stars Sea showed a rare superiority. Today, in honor Lope de Vega was rather disappointed after his victory in the Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly. If Andre Fabre his clever coach, has supplemented recently, it’s not for nothing!
LOPE DE VEGA (IRL)
Male 3 years Shamardal and Lady Vettori
Trainer: Andre Fabre
Jockey: Maxime Guyon
Owner: Gestüt Ammerland8 races: 4 wins, 1 place
Earnings: 1,175,215 euros
Music: 1p 1p 3p 5p 8p (09) 4p 1p 1p
Victorious debut
For his first steps in the competition at the age of 2 years in 2009, Lope de Vega hits hard. It is needed in both races to conditions. The first takes place in Deauville in the Prix de Montaigu on the short distance of 1500 meters where he beats Mubtassim. Less than a month later, on September 13 at Longchamp over 1400m this time, he won the Al Khor to Heaven’s Heart. Her career was launched. We can not wait to see him at the highest level.
Andre Fabre, his trainer, did not wait long to rub the elite. October 4 at Longchamp, Lope de Vega is entered in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere, a Group I, which is run over 1400 meters. Shamardal’s son learns his trade as a champion and finished fourth behind Siyouni, Pouced and Buzzword, not without falling from grace. On 25 April 2010, always at Longchamp, it confirms its value by taking the second prize accessit Fontainebleau (Group III) and 1600 meters behind Rajsaman Siyouni. Now it will take him with the very best. Two Group I rank …
The moment of truth approaches for Lope de Vega. On 16 May he took part in the Poule d’Essai des Foals, a group I played at Longchamp on the distance of 1600 meters. After a nice limit, it takes the best of a good half length about Dick Turpin and Shamalgan not the latecomers in the specialty. A "champion grass" was born. Three weeks later, on June 6, is the big day for the resident of Andre Fabre. In Chantilly, a distance of 2100 meters, unusual for him, he won the coveted Prix du Jockey Club (Group I) of an entire class before the "cream" of the discipline: Planter, Pain Perdu and Behkabad. No less!
… Then two failures!
The sequence of events for the partner Maxime Guyon looks much less rosy. Disappointing eighth in the Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly on July 4 from behind Dick Turpin and other Siyouni, it is again going to fail in the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp, most recently last September 5. Fuissé, Rio de la Plata and Paco Boy Siyouni are before him in this group I played over 1600 meters. Lope de Vega has happened in shape? It is thought until his coach do additonal few days before the 2010 Arc de Triomphe. Andre Fabre is hardly the kind of mistakes in his choices, then it will follow closely the son of Shamardal.
October 2, 2010 at 07:05 #320399Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe:The luck in seating of the rope!
The suspense is over. Seating at the rope were distributed Friday, October 1, 2010. The favorites were they spoiled? Who are the losers? Planter is doing well, with the lucky number 7. Behkabad has in turn inherited the number 9, while the Workforce will start between the two in the stall 8.
This is the big moment, trembling expect the owners, trainers and jockeys. What will be their number in such prestigious Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe? With a well-stocked platoon (20 starters), this place at the start can be decisive. In the end, most favorites fared rather well.
Elie Lellouche has had ample time to tremble. Planter its champion was the last to be drawn. But ultimately it was worth the wait since the colt Wildenstein inherited the stall holders happiness: 7! That looks good. However, there will be beautiful people with him: Wiener Walzer, the German champion, inherited the stall 6 (one of Sea The Stars last year). Workforce, the winner of the Epsom Derby will be in the 8. Who said Planter, "said Behkabad! Behkabad and is indeed not far off from the stall as number 9. Note that the leader of Planter, Absolute Power, will be in stall 2. What make a great start.
The two girls, both French, the start of the race, were more or less unfortunate: Sarafina will start from stall 3, while Plumania will be outside with the number 15.
A short paragraph specifically for the Poulidor Arc, Youmzain. The horse was more or less fortunate, since it has been awarded the number 12. Rushing to the middle of the pack, he has every chance to finally succeed to win this coveted prize.
The O’Brien team is doing pretty well. Cape Blanco, with Christophe Soumillon in the saddle, will be in the stall number 11. To Fame And Glory, the draft can advertise both favorable than unfavorable: 4 years of the Coolmore team has inherited the number 1 (number Youmzain in 2009). Be careful not to get trapped! The leader, Midas Touch, meanwhile will sprint from the beginning to accomplish its mission, darting from stall 18.
The Japanese held their breath, hoping not to have too much travel in the event, those who have already come a long way to arrive at Longchamp. They can breathe: Victory Pisa, who opened the lottery, inherited the stall 5. Right number. Festa will start Nakayama, meanwhile, center, who pulled the stall 10. Two other foreigners have been far less lucky: Tullamore, Czech, won the number 19, while Liang Kay was the most unfortunate with the number 20.
Other foreigners: Cavalryman third of the race last year but whose mission will be difficult this year is worse off with the number 4. Duncan, winner of the Prix Foy, rushed into the stall 16. Difficult. The courageous Timos, meanwhile, has inherited the number 14.
Finally, end with the two horses were supplemented for $ 100,000 euros. Marinous is really unlucky, having been awarded the stall 17! As for Lope de Vega, it will be for him to determine if the 13 is a lucky number or unlucky …Summary:
1 – Youmzain: Stall 12 - 118[/color:3nubm3u5]

Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe – Form Comments
Youmzain
His most famous achievement has to run second in the last three runnings of the Arc. Three years ago, he was only beaten a head by Dylan Thomas when a complete outsider and for the last two years he has had the misfortune to encounter a champion filly in Zarkava and, in 2009, a champion colt in Sea The Stars.Marinous
His owner has decided to supplement him as he doesn’t think he’ll ever have another chance to win the Arc. Marinous sprang a 20-1 surprise to win the G2 Grand Prix de Deauville over 2500m in August. That form has been boosted by the subsequent success of runner-up Redwood who went on to win a Grade 1 in Canada in September.Fame And Glory
Has been disappointing in the Arc last year. He started second favourite that day but was 4 ½ lengths sixth to Sea The Stars, never looking seriously dangerous. He has won his last four starts, two of them at Group 1 level, and has been stylish in victory each time suggesting that he may be a better horse now than a year ago.Pouvoir Absolu
Did win twice at Listed level earlier in the season, also running a close third in a Group 2 over this distance at Chantilly in June. However he was well beaten last time and appears to be running here simply as pacemaker for the stable’s big hope Planteur.Wiener Walzer
Won the German Derby in 2009 and has always proved very effective over this distance. However his 2010 form has generally been weak and it would be a huge surprise if he played a major role at the end of Europe’s number one race.Cavalryman
The last of his four wins came in the Prix Niel over course and distance of the big race in 2009. He then ran a good third to Sea The Stars in the big race itself. However he’s been thrashed in a succession of Group 1’s this season including when favourite at Baden-Baden last time. He will start at long odds.Nakayama Festa
This Japanese challenger is twice a winner in Japan, notable when beating very smart Buena Vista and 15 others in a Grade 1 on a good ground turf surface over 2200m at Hanshin in late June. He has had the Arc as his ambitious target ever since, and came out his first French venture with lots of credit when runner-up to Duncan in the Prix Foy over the Arc course and distance in September. He was doing his best work in the closing stages and should be fitter and sharper on the big day.Timos
Always does his best and 200m from the end he looked to have a good chance of gaining his fourth career win in the Prix Foy at Longchamp in September, finishing third behind Duncan. However the Arc is a much stronger race and his chances are bleak.Duncan
Landed a surprise 10-1 success to fend off Japanese Arc challenger Nakayama Festa in the Prix Foy over the Arc course and distance in September. It was an extraordinary success as Duncan looked as though he was going to be swamped once the lead was taken off him by early in the straight, but he battled back bravely along the rails to get the money. However he is a quirky character who has sometimes run way below the high standards he is capable of and might be happiest in small fields.Liang Kay
Five times a winner with his figures suggesting extreme consistency. However he has only once raced over 2400m – unsuccessfully – though he did win over 2200m at Baden-Baden about a year ago – the ground being soft that day. Optimists might give him a small place chance.Tullamore
Was beaten 20 lengths in 16th place in last year’s Arc. He started at 500-1 that day and will probably start at similar odds this time as his victory form in the Czech Republic is not nearly good enough.Plumania
Finally gaining Group 1 glory when beating Youmzain in a nailbiting finish to the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud run on softish ground over 2400m in June. She has had the Arc as her target ever since and ran a very solid second to multiple Group 1 winner Midday in the G1 Prix Vermeille in September. Likely to be sharper on the big day and she’ll be a popular win and place choice for the 2010 Arc.Workforce
Has only raced four times but he stunned the racing world when crushing his rivals in the Derby with the time of 2m 31.33s for the famous 2400m at Epsom smashing the track record by almost a second. Despite his trainer’s worry about the fast ground then he surged to a 7 lengths victory over his nearest rival. A comprehensive defeat in the G1 King George V1 and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on his only subsequent run – racing much too freely that day – has dented his reputation but strong Arc ante-post betting support suggests that he may be back at his best.Behkabad
France’s leading three-year-old after his victories in the G1 Grand Prix de Paris and most recently in September’s G2 Prix Niel. Behkabad became Arc favourite after his Niel success when defeating his old rival Planteur by a head to gain his sixth win from eight career starts. He has never raced on fast ground, but it is very rare to find those conditions at Longchamp in October. A real professional and a leading player.Cape Blanco
Winner of the G1 Irish Derby over the Arc distance at The Curragh in June but he posted his most impressive performance when dropping back to 2000m to thrash triple Group 1 winner Rip Van Winkle by 5 ½ lengths in the G1 Irish Champion Stakes in September.Planteur
Having finished second in the G1 French Derby, he has since twice been beaten into second by likely Arc favourite Behkabad over the Arc course and distance, first in the G1 Grand Prix de Paris and then in the G2 Prix Niel. Sent to the front by Anthony Crastus 400m from the end of the Niel, he looked like fending off Behkabad, but his old rival proved a head too strong at the wire. Ultra reliable, his trainer is confident of more improvement on the big day.Lope De Vega
The big talking point in France earlier in the year, winning both the French 2000 Guineas and the French Derby, latterly when ignoring a supposedly disastrous post position to beat 21 rivals easily. Has blotted his copybook with two much less good runs afterwards and is yet to race over further than 2100m. However his trainer holds the record for Arc wins and is hopeful that Lope de Vega will have enough stamina.Midas Touch
Has a profile that is both consistent and gradually improving. Most recently moved up to 3000m to finish runner-up in the Group 1 St Leger at Doncaster. He does not look a strong candidate back at 2400m with the suggestion being that he will be involved in pacemaking duties for stablemates Fame And Glory and Cape Blanco.Sarafina
Didn’t waste any time winning a Group One, managing it on just her second start, in Longchamp’s Prix Saint-Alary. This Alain de Royer-Dupre-trained filly then swiftly followed up by winning the French Oaks when having no problem moving up to the 2200m distance. Well fancied to maintain her unbeaten record in a very strong-looking Prix Vermeille (2400m) at Longchamp in September, but she sat too far off the pace and didn’t have quite enough finishing kick in that G1, though only 1 ¼ lengths third behind classy older filly Midday.Victoire Pisa
This classy Japanese raider has won four of his six starts including a major Grade 1 success at Nakayama over 2000m back in April. Having his first run since May, he appeared in the Prix Niel at Longchamp in September and was beaten over 8 lengths into fourth by possible Arc favourite Behkabad. He’s going to improve on the big day, but that improvement is going to need to be considerable.June 17, 2011 at 18:03 #361244
