    Cool Martin!

I have a 100% win strike rate at Dieppe! :o

Well…one winner – from one bet really!
A long time ago in what seemed like the longest race I have ever viewed…

‘Jungle Fever’ in the Cross Country there…
it turned out to be one of the most fun to watch also…as they went round and around through the mist and rain!

Re: the ‘Bench’ it’s funny how Ioritz has used the wildcard so early in the season to take the ride on a horse who on form has a load to find?!

Looking forward to the race tomoz…good to see ‘Vision’ back and the ‘Eagles’ after a well earned rest!

Nicholas Godfrey of the RP went to Dieppe for one of his racing trips and wrote about it in the RP, had it all booked for a trip to the XC race last month but didn’t realise it was an evening meeting so wasn’t worth taking the ferry over.

Figure of 8 in the centre of the track and they go all over the place. Gorgeous course though, love it there but being mainly a jumps fan I couldn’t go over for a flat meeting I’m afraid.

FWIW Zen just checking over Jungle Fever’s form and she appeared to win a good few XC races over the Dieppe course (apparently one of the toughest in France), though the 2010 equivalents of those races seem to be lacking as I could only find one XC chase taking place in 2010.

Anyway – Jungle Fever is one of the many progeny of the stallion "Lights Out" who I saw as a child on a visit to a Normandie stud in the early 1990’s, he didn’t sire too many notable horses so it’s a rare achiement

    Mangetout Martin mangetout!

Though I shall be keeping my 100% record at Dieppe intact as I’ll leave backing those jumpers to you!

One code and one fluke is enough for me and from what you say the ‘Fever’ may have been mine! :D
Though it was one of the best races I’ve ever watched…what seemed like all 10 mins worth!

Must also give credit where it is due…good ride by AC today!

    Ioritz Mendizaval

To Ride at Deauville on August 15
    He uses his joker!

While suspended the next weekend, Ioritz Mendizabal will be present on Sunday, August 15 Racecourse Deauville. Indeed, the jockey has decided to use his wildcard to participate in the Prix Jacques Le Marois where he should put the saddle on Royal Bench. The jockeys have the right to request a waiver (available once a year) to cancel one day of suspension.

    C. Soumillon

    Makfi:

    The horse you dream of!

After the success of Makfi in the Prix Jacques Le Marois:

Christophe Soumillon has entrusted the microphone after Equidia Makfi success in the Prix Jacques Le Marois (Group I) Sunday, August 15 at Deauville. He said: "For me it’s Jacques le Marois a history. We do not know the limits of the first three. I had one made a big impression in the 2000 Guineas Stakes, Newmarket. I tell you frankly, I seldom mounted a horse like that. It has gas, it goes in every land, it is handy, it really is a horse you dream about, he knows everything. I had a perfect race, I’m behind Goldikova from the start, I think that this area has played against it. It would be nice to see a match between two in good soil. I’m glad to win for Mathieu Offenstadt. :D

    Imperial Makfi!

    – Winner of Jacques le Marois Price:

What a great race Makfi! What a performance! The "youngster" of the Prix Jacques Le Marois has dominated the two champions, Goldikova and Paco Boy. The colt trained by Mikel Delzangles has produced a tremendous acceleration that left behind its competitors. Enjoying a beautiful mounts of Christophe Soumillon, Makfi soared, erasing its last performance-cons, and as definitively winning the rising star of the French turf, and let us crazy, International! Goldikova is second, with courage, until the end. Certainly disadvantaged by terrain, considered tacky by Christophe Soumillon, the queen of Deauville has shown that even in the land of his exploits, she was not invincible. However, she managed to repel the attack until the end of Paco Boy, who had thought win. Fuissé is fourth … The favorites were there, but Makfi was the best.

Prix Jacques Le Marois 2010: the race for exploits

The 2010 edition of the Prix Jacques Le Marois was fervently awaited by all lovers of horse racing. Top Milers were there: the queen Goldikova, who had a mission to match the record of Dahlia by removing a 11th Group I. Paco Boy, his challenger, who had threatened Weirtheimer champion in the Queen Anne Stakes 2010. The giant strides Fuisse, in sparkling form. Makfi, surprise French 2010 Guineas winner of 2000 British …

All horses are in stalls. Goldikova, used to make some ways, came back without problem. Makfi equally relaxed, was ready. The stalls open. Saying Only Green and assume their leadership roles. Behind them, Goldikova, warm, the following drawing somewhat. Makfi took the wheel of Goldikova, after the mare easily. Fuisse gallops well, outside and alongside Goldikova, but the nose. Paco Boy moved to the rear, waiting, biding his time.

For the 400 meters, Only Saying Green and depart. Goldikova burst without Olivier Peslier has moved. The champion darts, and victory seems near. But then Paco Boy decides to quit the rear. Led by Richard Hughes, he placed a magnificent burst of speed, seeming to take the best Goldikova. But he is not alone. Christophe Soumillon, saw the English taking the offensive, launching Makfi. The colt then places his famous devastating speed, and flies. Alone. Meanwhile, the courageous Goldikova takes a desperate duel with Paco Boy. She has heart. She has courage. It’s safe. The mare resumed a neck to Paco Boy, resisting him to the end. A neck … As in the Queen Anne Stakes 2010.

    Makfi, an indisputable victory

The victory and the class Makfi are indisputable. It is true that the colt had disappointed in the St James’s Palace Stakes, June 15, 2010 … That same day Goldikova shone in the Queen Anne Stakes. But who cares! The race was clear, and it was better to remember the imperial demonstration of this colt, with only two races in the legs, beat the elite English and Irish 2000 Guineas in Newmarket, in May 2010.
Makfi in the Prix Jacques Le Marois, was above all that talent. Inexperienced compared to oldies such as Goldikova and Paco Boy, the colt offset by a heart and courage gold. Christophe Soumillon, who has yet installed Zarkava as cracks or Dalakhani, told the mic Equidia he had seldom mounted a horse like this, with whom he hoped to really run. "The horse you dream" .. . Could there be more appreciative of compliments?

    Why defeat Goldikova?

All the superlatives seem ridiculous when it comes to discussing Goldikova. The mare had made her theater Deauville, the land of his exploits, she was undefeated. For "Goldi" Jacques le Marois in 2010 this was an exceptional challenge: it was, first, to complete a double in this difficult ordeal. But also, secondly, to beat the record of Miesque (10 gold medals in Group I) to equal that of Dahlia (11 victories in Group I). Finally, the Queen must confess beaten, and lost his crown. A defeat, but above all a great performance.

For, despite its leaders, Goldikova shot. In addition, the mare has never enjoyed the heavy going and, while officially flexible, the track Deauville was actually very wet. That certainly has not helped. Christophe Soumillon has also noticed on sporting Equidia Goldikova that had not been "as incisive as usual" has certainly been hampered by the terrain. And give him an appointment with Makfi on a good ground … A new appointment could also take place for the Breeder’s Cup Mile, Nov. 6, 2010.

But if Goldikova remains an exceptional mare, primarily Makfi applaud. By ending with the words of Freddy Head, after the race: "It’s the best that has won" … One Prix Jacques Le Marois has once again reaffirmed the values of good races: achievement, victory, and sportsmanship. :D

Martin – ‘Flo’ won well from that draw yesterday – Deauville next?! :D

Your part namesake run v good today whilst dropping back in trip…

    Missed out the ‘part’! :D

 Was hoping Delcher-Sanchez would run him in the Morny (Presume it’s Irish Field you’re refering to) :(

Hey Martin – did you surf the form line from your (Part) Namesake today?! :!:

Looks like your hope might be on!

He is entered up for the Morny despite the reports of having been sold to race in Honk Pong! :o

Infact he’s being trained by JW Hills! The post has him down as owner too but FG has a fellow called MC Wong as his owner – (not sure if he has any connection to one of the underground music fads!?!)

Having had a very quick look – it appears to be a good field with namesake’s conqueror from the time before facing up again.
Then there are some others in the race from last time who may run well – ‘Broox’ was steppin’ back and more was expected of the ‘Tin Horse’!
YD’s filly who was beat by the regarded CHM runner last time might be of interest also?!
    Should be good! 8)

    Other snippets:

    Prix Jean Romanet

    In Deauville

Should Shalanaya the great attraction of the Prix Jean Romanet, August 22 at Deauville. The Aga Khan’s representative among the 10 remaining engaged in the Group I for females. Board Meeting, Celimene, Reggane Stacelita or La Boum have applied for membership.

    Kergorlay Price

    In Deauville

Blek will track the price Kergorlay, August 22 at Deauville. After the first pass, they are still 12 on the entry list for this Group II. Manighar, third in the Prix Royal Oaks (Group I) could make his return to France. After a correct return, Watar is on the list, as well as Los Cristianos and American format.

    Bannaby

After his victory in the Copa de Oro

Bannaby (4th at Ascot) won the Copa de Oro, the eighth stage of the Challenge Galop, Sunday, August 15, 2010 in Saint-Sebastien. The protected-Mauricio Delcher Sanchez should participate in the Prix du Cadran, Group I 4,000 m planned on October 3 at Longchamp. Bannaby won the 2008 tournament.

    Christophe Soumillon

    Exceptional Form!

He continued his fine series with a double at Deauville!
Last Sunday, Christophe Soumillon had signed a one-two with Makfi and The Thief. The next day was a hat-trick in Deauville followed by a two-stroke at Clairefontaine on Tuesday. The Belgian rider has again doubled the Wednesday, August 18, 2010 in Deauville with Fred Lalloupet and Mister Moonlight. It was his 71st successful sign of the year.

    The Prix Morny

    Dream Ahead Won!
    He remains undefeated…

The least experienced competitor at the start of the Prix Morny (Group I for 2 years), Dream Ahead outclassed the opposition Sunday, August 22 at Deauville. The protégé of David Simcock is the second fastest time in history 1’09”60. Dream Ahead runway had been seen only once in July at Nottingham. That day, he won nine lengths.

    ———————————————————-

Well this stat from Mordin has been useful! :D

Hannon has never had a group 1 or 2 winner in France in 39 years

There doesn’t seem to be much interest in this race & times are useless (some say stats too!) – but the winner looked good and the form doesn’t look bad!

Yet again the prize was taken across the Channel – with the best named horse second at a cost of a x4! :(

Some might say that the Papin isn’t working out due to the reverse of ‘Broox’ & ‘Tin Horse’ yesterday!
Well there were reasons for that – in the book of course!

Then there are some others in the race from last time who may run well – ‘Broox’ was steppin’ back and more was expected of the ‘Tin Horse’!
YD’s filly who was beat by the regarded CHM runner last time might be of interest also?!
    Should be good! 8)

‘Broox’ had to make the running last time and was stepping back in trip whilst both he and ‘Tin’ were winning on Gd – as ‘Irish Field’ had won on heavy in Spain he may have been more suited to the Gs last time out.

Oh…and thank you ‘White Gloves’!

    I wouldn’t have thought he’d want it fast – Down Under! :o

    No news Darren…

at least ‘Dary’ has no immediate entries after being pulled out of that race the other day.

Both ‘Helleborine’ & ‘Exemplify’ for CHM are entered for the Cheveley Park they don’t have any others for the moment.

‘Helleborine’ – beat (in her maiden) the third home ‘Pontenuovo’ in the Morny yesterday also has some interesting links from her next race.

‘Zabeel Park’ – form to ‘Hooray’
‘Fanny May’ – form to ‘Zaidan’

both lines could be of interest… :?:

‘Exemplify’ is the half sister to ‘Special Duty’ that you asked about elsewhere. :D
