How would we assess that – big prices for both Guineas this afternoon, Metropolitan has reversed the form with a few of these that beat him in the Prix de Fontainebleau – Super run by Roger Teals Dancing Gemini and will definitely by penciling in Diego Velazquez in for somewhere this season. Henry Longfellow surely will go up in trip along with his stablemate. Always hard to assess the French Guineas,
Where next for the O’Brien horses, Henry Longfellow could be expected to turn up in the Irish 2000gns, on to Ascot maybe and the St James’s Palace – is he a Derby horse – would they dare go the Dante with Diego or bypass and go straight to the Derby with him and has been clipped into 12s, where Henry Longfellow looks to bypass the Derby drifting out to 25/1.

May 12, 2024 at 17:12 #1694129The fav didn’t get a great passage but wouldn’t have won anyway. When he finally got a bit of space there was nothing in the tank.
Overall, I think it’s an absolute disgrace the condition O’Brien has turned his 2 stars out in. He should never be allowed to run a good one in a Guineas without a prep run ever again.
May 12, 2024 at 17:19 #1694133All of Aidan’s guineas winners did so without a prep so a tad over the top

May 12, 2024 at 17:23 #1694134Not as easy as that. Most of his guineas winners haven’t run before winning them. Just very odd why some are running so poorly 1st time out. Grosvenor square was bitterly disappointing at chester. Henry just wasn’t on it today similar to cot. Diego just needs further and ran a good race. Surely there is a reason the 3yos olds are so far behind. Highbury scooted in today after a decent first run. Just strange when you see point Lonsdale bolting up.

before 0 in the last 5 so maybe he needs to have a think
But he’ll know more behind the scenes and surely will have an idea to why they have all needed the runGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
May 12, 2024 at 17:37 #1694142March ‘24 in the top ten wettest Marches on record has been one of the O’Brien excuses. And I don’t think February and April were great either. One of the longest Winters I can remember even though it wasn’t particularly cold.
May 12, 2024 at 17:52 #1694149Maybe he “cotton wools” his apparent stars too much over the winter, just doesn’t do enough with them. He admitted maybe he treated City Of Troy too much like a God which certainly indicates a lenient approach.
The more I know the less I understand.
May 12, 2024 at 17:57 #1694150I’m a good bit further north than Tipp but even so- when I was over in north Wales for a wedding last weekend it was remarkable how much further on the spring was there than at home. The grass verges, garden plants- everything looked weeks ahead of us so perhaps the horses also.
May 12, 2024 at 18:12 #1694153If Ryan had the chance to speak to the stewards I think he might have told them he had been “done up like a kipper”
Definitely a race to put a line through as far as Henry is concerned.
May 12, 2024 at 21:47 #1694173I think you make a good point, Green. It could well be the longer winter.
From my trainer form ratings it also seems as though Southern British yards have had a bigger advantage this Spring too.
It is not just the stars, RTB. Vast majority of AOB’s horses have been needing their first run.
Point Lonsdale was fit from a couple of races in the Middle-East, Mickey.Value Is EverythingMay 12, 2024 at 22:16 #1694175Nathan seems to be right about how Diego’s development has perhaps surpassed that of Henry over the Winter. Have a look at the freeze-frame side profiles of each horse at the winning post in the Equidia Replay. Diego even seems to be carrying even a bit more condition. Any experts?
May 13, 2024 at 23:55 #1694272RP latest: “lads” open to sending Diego to Epsom instead of Chantilly. He might just mudlark it around the Downs if it turns up soft like at Longchamps yesterday.
May 14, 2024 at 20:44 #1694317Diego looks tailor made for the Derby IMHO. He’s not slow as he showed on Sunday. I wonder would Wayne lordan ride him or Los Angeles. Could be someone will get a potentially winning spare ride in the Derby.
