I’m 15 minutes from Hamilton but it’s over 2.5 hours by car from here to Kelso and public transport on a Sunday is unlikely to be a good option. I can’t see me being there.
January 1, 2007 at 17:02 #34851Kelso on the 28th, eh? Still haven’t been there, and I think I get paid on the 26th. Six hour road trip from Hitchin? Oh, I’ve done longer!
Tentative yes, therefore, but I’ll confirm nearer the time. Mrs Column may also be available that date.

January 1, 2007 at 20:32 #34852I’d love to come and meet up with more of the gang, (particularly Mr. and Mrs. Column) but it’s WAY too far away for me! I’ll try to make one of the more southerly trips.
I’ve heard Leicester’s a great course……………

January 1, 2007 at 21:32 #34853I think I can probably make it. Might have to give football a miss on the Saturday to get a pass for the Sunday, but I reckon I can make it!

I’d suggest GNER from Stevenage/Peterborough to Berwick rather than the dreaded A1
Buses from Berwick to Kelso are run by:
http://www.munrosofjedburgh.co.uk/
Though I fear they don’t run on Sundays.

January 2, 2007 at 08:34 #34855We should have decided on Kempton for a banded sand meeting.
We could have had the place to ourselves and I am sure Glenn would have made the effort to attend.
January 3, 2007 at 11:13 #34856Kempton would be a doddle for me
Shouldnt there be a london meet anyway?
Exclusive from all these northerners and whathaveyou ;)

January 4, 2007 at 20:50 #34857Good response. If it helps I could arrange some transport to/from Edinburgh for four or five people if genuine problems getting down here. I’ll find out about public transport also as there is an Edinburgh/Kelso bus but not sure about Sundays and times, etc.
One or two ideas for some items of interest to liven up the day but more on that later when confirmed.
Sal – point taken!
January 4, 2007 at 21:51 #34858I think you’ll need a flag or something Corm .. I was supposed to meet Kevin at Ayr, but how would I know who he is and how would he know me ??
January 4, 2007 at 22:24 #34859Perhaps some sort of dress code would be appropriate. How about if people carry a Racing Post and a pair of binoculars.

January 4, 2007 at 22:50 #34861Sorry Dave,
Didn’t go that day. My mate’s horse was withdrawn over the weekend and I did not fancy going alone.
Since its Scotland how about a Daily Record & a bottle of Irn Bru in jacket pocket.
January 5, 2007 at 17:59 #34862you wasnt that big scary bloke who kept hanging around then .. ?
January 5, 2007 at 22:28 #34863I’ll be easy to spot. I’ll probably be the one getting beaten up by a horse in the parade ring.
(ie. just like at Musselburgh today with Taras Knight if anyone saw it!)
January 5, 2007 at 23:19 #34864Wrong end of the Country for me also
Southern / London course meet would not be a problem
January 6, 2007 at 00:06 #34865Some news on the Kelso meet up –
Lucinda Russell and Peter Buchanan have very kindly agreed to give us a little of their time to say hello and have a wee chat. Hopefully if they have any runners they’ll be able to give us the lowdown on how they hope the day will go for them!
Much thanks to TRF member Lekha (who works at the yard) for setting that up for us. Very much appreciated.
