Queen Mary Royal Ascot Fairytale 8/1
Reasons given on 2yo thread and the race video.
Wesley Ward 4 and a half furlong winner. Big Scat Daddy filly who will probably be paddock pick by a mile if she lines up.
8/1 is well worth risking I feel.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 23, 2017 at 11:33 #1298002Steve what your view of CRYSTAL OCEAN one of my darkhorses i put in back end of 2yo summary thread and in my flat thread to he won very well last night only a maiden i know but taking performance by him.
April 23, 2017 at 12:38 #12980073.20 Navan Psychedelic Funk 3/1
Maybe I’ll actually tip a winner one day.
The Caution Curse is on last season’s Coventry third Psychedelic Funk. He cut little ice in the Dewhurst but back in distance and down in class he must go close if he is fit. Ger Lyons feels the horse could be decent this season and in some respects he has the form here.
Intelligence Cross is being dropped in trip and Alphabet is a 6F maiden winner on heavy ground. That puts me off the two O’Brien horses. Timeform didn’t have my selection in their preview 1-2-3 but I would rather take him than the maiden winner and the War Front dropping back in distance.
Psychedelic Funk 3/1 will disappoint me if not going close today.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 23, 2017 at 15:13 #1298021The Derby betting is uninspiring for me so I have done a Guineas/Derby special on Eminent at 33/1.
I feel a Guineas win would see him as short as the proverbial carrot for Epsom.
At 33/1 I am willing to have a go.

April 23, 2017 at 17:29 #1298043Psychedelic Funk stumbled coming out of the stalls and ran like a selling plater today. He must have run miles below his mark today. The signs were good, he was backed into 9/4 from 3/1 and there seemed little confidence in the O’Brien pair. In the end the O’Brien colts were readily held in 3rd and 4th in a disappointing day for their yard. That made the ultimate favourite’s effort all the more puzzling.
Moving on, I have backed Senga for the French 1000 Guineas at 4/1.
I feel she has impressed most of the fillies seen this Spring. Gosden’s Dabyah is JT Fav but I readily prefer Senga as a horse to improve significantly this season.
In the French 2000 Guineas I just prefer Brametot to National Defense. The Rouget horse made up a huge amount of ground to win his trial, while National Defense could not match the finishing burst of Al Wukair in the Djebel. That may look strong after our Guineas but Rouget said that Brametot is a totally different horse this season to what he was last year. He indicated that the colt will be held up in the French Guineas and I just feel National Defense may see a strong finisher go by him again in the Guineas. Caravaggio is 7/2 Fav but I feel he has enough to prove with Aidan’s hardly setting the world on fire this spring and the horse missed his original seasonal opener.

French 2000 Guineas Brametot 4/1

I’ll get back to you on him Darren.
The Racing Post gave Psychedelic Funk as running 36 lbs below his rating yesterday. That’s a pathetic effort by any standards and bitterly disappointing when he was a well supported favourite on the day.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 25, 2017 at 01:52 #1298177In the Prix Diane I had to do Senga at 13/2. She was unlucky in the Boussac last season, when hopelessly held up in a slowly run race. She bolted through to be beaten not too far in 4th from an impossible sit earlier.
She has proven that she was unlucky that day by landing her trial in cosy enough style, despite jumping the path. She is a filly of substance by dirt horse Blame and she looks like she can accelerate. Whichever Guineas she runs in, she will have a leading chance and I feel she could turn up hot favourite for the Prix Diane. She looks like her style will help her stay the extra 2F and I haven’t seen a more promising 3yo filly this season.
Prix Diane Senga 13/2

April 25, 2017 at 06:07 #1298181Esher Cup Friday 28th Son Of The Stars
Richard Hannon is multiply entered in this Sandown Handicap but I fancy Son Of The Stars to be the best of them.
He’s unbeaten in two starts and looks a horse with plenty of improvement in him. Still a bit green last time, he picked up well and scored with enough in hand to feel he is well handicapped.
A 2000 Guineas entry, this son of Delegator won’t be running in that but he could be open to a rise in quality as the season goes on. Perhaps it’s significant that Qatar Racing bought him three days ago.
Atty Persse was/is a dark horse as a 1/1 son of Frankel. It is a bit odd to see him starting in a handicap and I just wonder if this Fav/JtFav in some lists is as far forward as Roger Charlton might have hoped for. The Hannon horse has the run under his belt and just as much potential for now. For that reason he is my pick here. Ryan Moore was on board last time and he is jocked up again for Friday.

April 25, 2017 at 20:48 #1298283The Oaks Shutter Speed 8/1.
John Gosden has described Shutter Speed as “Always looking like our best 3yo middle distance filly”
He also reported that Gracious Diana goes Ribblesdale and Coronet Prix Saint-Alary. The French race leaves it very tight for the Oaks.
I feel Rhododendron is the fly in the ointment but SHutter Speed looks an each-way lock at 8/1 for each way punters. I am already on at 16/1 and am topping up at 8/1. That could be excellent value shortly.
The Oaks Shutter Speed 8/1 will beat SP by miles in my opinion.

April 26, 2017 at 11:49 #1298360Epsom Derby Cracksman 14/1
I have been waiting to feel the vibes for this horse and they have been strong. The stable have had an excellent time and success usually breeds success.
I wondered if Epsom would suit Cracksman, as he looks a galloping sort. We are going to get that answer today and now is the time to back this son of Frankel. He seems to have the temperament and he can definitely lengthen and sustain a run.
There is reason to believe this colt will be favourite for the Derby this evening.
Cracksman 14/1 is the bet.

April 26, 2017 at 12:57 #1298367Mate we agree on Cracksman for derby on him at 33/1 as i put in my thread i feel Capri to exposed now while Crystal Ocean is another at a big price i like to.
Also bit of a shock no price for Tartini in st leger know power got market but not added him to it yet
April 26, 2017 at 22:53 #1298446Tartini 25/1 for Leger Daz.
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
April 27, 2017 at 05:37 #1298465Son Of The Stars didn’t stand his ground. I did see some money for The Grape Escape and wondered if he, rather than Son Of The Stars was running.
If they are going to go non-handicap with the horse next time, they will probably blow his mark.
As the other man said “Balls, balls, banquets and balls”

April 28, 2017 at 10:12 #1298596Steve i know you follow horses from America any views on Bound for Nowhere that Ward bring over for Commenwealth cup.
May 5, 2017 at 06:41 #1299410I had Cloth Of Stars and Blue Point this week but didn’t manage to post them here. Sod’s Law. The odds had changed by the time I got to the forum so I didn’t include them.
Other bets this week were on:-
Hardwicke Stakes Jack Hobbs 4/1
King George Jack Hobbs 9/2
Arc De Triomphe Jack Hobbs 12/1
A bit of “all the eggs in one basket” but if he wins the first race, he’ll be shorter for the other two and the bets will have been paid for. He certainly looks a horse to stay on the right side of.
On Saturday, Roger Varian’s Victory Angel jumps out at 7/4. She went up 11 lbs for winning over the course and distance but she won easily that day, coming right away from Rich And Famous, who won eight days later to boost the form. On 92 now, I feel Victory Angel could still be ahead of the assessor and be a 100 rated filly.
With the benefit of a run and proven ability on the course, over the distance, I reckon she can rattle home to win this sprint.
Saturday, 4.10 Newmarket Victory Angel looks the Nap at 7/4 or better if odds become available with other firms and, of course, best odds guaranteed offers.
4 more points added.
On the Queen Mary front, Fairyland, who was backed and advised at 8/1, is now 4/1 for the fillies 5F contest at Royal Ascot.

May 5, 2017 at 06:55 #1299411Steve i know you follow horses from America any views on Bound for Nowhere that Ward bring over for Commenwealth cup.
I don’t actually follow US racing Darren. I just make a point of looking for Wesley Ward 2yo horses who may run at the Royal Meeting.
Bound For Nowhere won on Fast Dirt on his debut and he hosed up. Running On Firm next time over 5 and a half furlongs he didn’t ping and blaze as you might expect from this trainer. He had to be pushed to get going and made steady headway as the race progressed. Once they turn in he is in a position to strike and he then gets to the front and pulls away to score easily.
Hard to evaluate the form but he’s a typical well built Ward sprinter and visually he was very impressive. He will get the 6F on a sound surface but on softish ground who knows what might happen.
He’s worth a look for sure.
The last race can be seen here, he’s in black colours with a yellow wave across the chest. Nice performance:-
