Last nap could have won any easier…..not a great price but it’s winners that count.
All has been said that needs to be said aboutthe Finnesse Hurdle
No point for guessing I’ll be hammering into
Local Hero (Nap)
on Saturday.

Someone grabbed all the 5/2 and 3.5-3 on Betfair
January 29, 2011 at 17:08 #338241Well done, Fist.
Think you owe AP a drink.

It’s a shame Local Hero didn’t have a decent pace to aim at; he’d have been far more impressive had he been towed in to the straight.

Just got back from the beach and watched yesterday’s racing and have to agree with you both but had way too many drinks last night already Colin
Pace was definitely not what he wanted AJ and he never looked to be travelling comfortably. Normally he’s very slick but that brought back memories of Binocular when he went to Kempton as a novice. As you say most likley the slow pace and hopefuly he’ll jump better on the big day.
Mixed reactions from the bookies but 12/1 Corals 20/1 Stan James.
He may not look as classy as Grandouet but he’s beating a high class animal in Third intention despite not jumping well while Nicky’s has beaten nothing worth talking about.
I suppose it will be down to AP’s advice now where Steve Gollings send him but my bet he’ll go for the Triumph will AP on board, where at least you know what you’re up against.
I honestly wouldn’t fancy running in the Fred Winter. We lost a lot of racing this season and the Fred Winter is very likely to come up with a few surprises from horses who haven’t had the opportunity to show their best yet.
Anyway he’s done the job well the course holds no fears so he looks certain to be going for one or the other.

I can’t believe how everyone seems to have put so much emphasis on Grand Crus’s win in the Cleeve Hurdle.
Can’t deny he was very imprsssice but what did he actually beat.. The race for me fell apart and Knockara Beau just slogged on and oustayed a lot of beaten horses. Restless Harry did finisdh 3rd but Big Buck’s was sleeping all the way round when he beat him whereas Grand Cruz was racing as fast as he could when Tom Scudamore gave him the go ahead….He was less animated than the horse was but even if he hadn’t been I doubt if he’d have won much further. The type of horse he is the horse simply wants to run and he’ll run his heart out against Big Bucks but beat him? Never in a month of Sudays IMO
BB was a 1/3 shot for this and all of a sudden he’s 5/6 or 4/5 .
whatever price you can get looks about the best value seen this year.

Nothing clever about noticing Blackpool Billy looks a good bet today and nothing worse than waiting for one to come out and he’s front page news.
Blackpool Billy has been one of the unluckiest losers of the season so far Despite being badly knocked about at the 3rd fence he had made up his ground and was coming with a perfectly timed run when he tried to walk through the 2nd last.
Few fingers got burned wasn’t Graeme Lee’s finest hour imo but he should make up for that relapse with ease today. There was a lot to like about how the horse got going again to finish 2nd so I doubt if the mistake will have left any mark on him.
Would have been happier had he gone for something a bit better but in this company the 5lbs he was put up after Catterick won’t hinder him in the slightest.
Hopefully he can be another winning bet. 6/4 looks way too big in this company despite it being a novice chase
Blackpool Billy (Nap) 6/4 PP

Naps had been doing well and was way too confident yesterday but can’t win em all as they say. Back to the drawing board and wait for the right horse.

I’d love to know how a horse Ferdy Murphy described as "an outsider for the Arkle" managed to be beaten 23l off a mark of 113 in a run-of-the-mill Ayr handicap.
February 4, 2011 at 10:56 #338995AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716
Me too but second guessing Ferdy Murphy is near impossible.. He also said nothing would beat The Hollinwell in the Ryanair and he’s a high class horse but been pulled up twice either side of winning a bumper for chasers.
Hopefully I’ve found one to get the cash lost back plus a bit on top.
I nearly fell off my chair when I seen the betting for the first at Bangor. Credit Swap odds on, Palace Jester 5/4.
No doubting pound for pound Credit Swap may be the better animal on faster ground but AP has a simple job here.
Credit Swap won well enough on soft ground and looked like he saw the trip out well but next time out he definitely looked like he was struggling with the trip.
Palce Jester met one of Nicky Henderson’s better horses IMO when he came up against Spirit Son. He was totally outclassed and in his efforts to keep up his jumping went to pot. I doubt if Credit Swap is in the same league as Henderson’s Supreme Hurdle hopeful.
AP will make plenty of use of him today and I expect him to run Credit Swap into the ground and expose him as a non stayer.
I also expect him to start favourite
Palace Jester (Nap)5/4February 4, 2011 at 11:40 #339000AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716
Good news on the home front that AP will team up with Local Hero for the Victor Ludorum at Haydock. His jumpping left alot to be desired at Cheltenham so hopefully he will scare off most of the opposition and gain some valubale experience before heading to Cheltenham. Steve Gollings sent Sregeant Pink there last year to finish 3rd and knows it shouldn’t be that hot a contest.
A clear round and a good win will surely see the 20/1 for the Triumph disappear. I’m amazed it’s still around to be honest as there is little doubt in AP’s mind where they should run him.
I have filled my boots at 33/1 and 25/1 but if the VL doesn’t look like a hot race I’ll be taking some of the 20/1 as well.
If by any remote chance it turns out to be a really hot looking race I expect Steve Gollings may pull him out. They already know he’s good enough to run and the last thing they’ll want to do is give him another hard race before Cheltenham.

Interesting weekends racing to say the least and crucial in many ways for yours truly
All seems well with Get Me Out Of Here in his attempt to become the fist dual winner of the Tote Trophy since Rosyth. That probably doesn’t mean much to the everyday punter but it will to JP McManus who will surely get some buzz out of backing him off the boards on Saturday if they can pull it off. I noticed AP isn’t declared to ride him yet but what better way to stave off a gamble before Saturday Perhaps he’s worked like a pig and wont run. Who knows what’s going on I certainly don’t and it’s not for the want of trying to finds out…very very hush hush Jonjo must be threatning to set the dog on anyone who talks Mind you the thing only stands 6" high so I doubt if it will keep them quiet for long.
I’m hoping all is well and the gamble materialises as I took the chance on him even before the entries were known and got more than twice the odds available so I will be laying half my bet off. If I can lay him at 7-8 on Betfair I’ll about double my money if he loses and still get around 11/1 about total investment if he wins.
I’ve also had a bet on John Quinn’s to boost the bank should Get Me Out of Here fail to shine. To be honest there a lot of sentiment went into backing him as I’ve known John and his family for years. The one worry I have about him is this wasn’t his intended target, he was spot on for the Ladbroke and when that was lost it was back to the drawing board and this looks a tougher contest. Still, I would love to see him win for John and his son Sean who put so much effort into the game.
Nicky has set a bit of a puzzle by saddling 3 on Saturday in the Tote but none of them will win so don’t worry about it Solix did kick Oscar Whisky into touch when they worked together but apart from that he has very little in his favour. Sometimes these French horses get off lightly with their handicaps but this horse has done nothing in his career to date to suggest he is any better than a 152 horse. He has never raced on good ground either which is more than enough to make any punter think twice about backing him. Eradicate needs fastish ground and needs it to stay dry and that doesn’t look likely and Soldatino’s Triumph form is a bit suspect. Nicky has had better teams in the past but has a great record so I wouldn’t dream of saying he can’t win the race again I just can’t fancy them persoanlly.
I see the The Pipe’s are at it again Ronaldo 2nd last year, better off this year but the gamble seems to be on the stable companion…..good luck to them.
————————
My old pal Finian’s Rainbow runs on Saturday. I doubt if he’ll be a betting proposition but just watching him run again will be enough of a buzz for me. I still think 4/1 is absolutely massive about this horse for the Arkle and to a man at Sevenbarrows defeat in the Arkle is out of the question. Just hope all goes well on Saturday.
———————————The plot thickens on the build up to Cheltenham and none more than which horse will be Nicky’s best hope in the Supreme. Gibb River won like an odds on should when completing a hat trick the other day and set a few togues wagging. Even more impressive was how easily Sprinter Sacre disposed of David Pipe’s 4yo Kazzenne after being beaten by Frascatti Park. His 4/9 price tag gives you some idea of how much he was thought to have improved and they weren’t wrong. However there was no money for him for the Supreme before that race it wasn’t until after he won the money came for him.
Unlike Sprinter Sacre the money has been coming steadily for Nick’y’s other horse Spirit Son before he’s due to run which is on Sunday. The last of the 20’s I have been telling people to take went yesterday morning and 14’s is about s good as you will get now. If he wins as easily as I expect on Sunday don’t be surprised if he’s single figures after the race.
—————-
On the betting front things have been a bit quiet as I have enough on my plate with the Tote coming up….I was intending to go all out and Nap bet Riverside Theatre 1/1 but instead I took the gamble on him MickyD, Woolcombe Folly winning their races. I got 11/2 which is slightly over the current odds for the treble so thought it was worth a go. Just hope they all turn up.

Don’t want Nicky Henderson’s 2000th winner to go unbacked today so having a major Bet on Punchestownstown (nap) today.
Hopefully he’ll hack up. Nicky is persevering with him over fences and I truly believe this is his trip as I have never been convinced he truly stays 3 miles.
Apart from messing about on the Betfair place market there’s not really much to be betting on but I think I’ve found a real value bet who I reckon can turn over the hot fav.
Rupert Lamb came up against a really good horse in Darna at Ayr and for me the form is a street ahead of Aikman’s second to Nicky Richard’s Waldvogel.
Hopefully I’ll be backing him with money won after the 2.45 at Kempton

Came out a little bit ahead yesterday or thought I had until I found out my AP treble went bye byes
Not to be outdone I have gone back to plan "A" and had my biggest bet to date on Riverside Theatre (Nap) as I have my suspicions on the wellbeing of What A Friend.
It was pleasing to see Barry Geharty backing up what I said weeks ago about Spirit Son, yesterday. In his own words "He one of the better one’s make no mistake about that". He also speaks highly of Sprinter Sacre but gives no indication of which he thinks is the better and I dare say the answer to that would depend on who you asked at Seven Barrows.
Tomorrow he comes up against Cedre Blue trained by Paul Nicholls who kicked his stable companion and would be wonder horse, Titan De Sarte into touch, so he has no easy task on his hands. Despite winning by 8 lengths all he really did was maintain the gallop. When Sam did ask him to quicken he was going up and down a bit rather than striding out like a potential high class hurdler would.
Cedre Blue has definitely got a high cruising speed which makes him a live danger but his future lies over fences and my bet he’ll be one of PN’s top novice chasers next season.
It should be quite an enlightening race Nicky won’t have Spirit Son quite 100% for this with Cheltenham looming and I reckon Sam will go fairly early on Cedre Blue in the hope Spirit Son comes under pressure and blows up.
If Spirit Son is a Cheltenham horse then a potential chaser like Cedre Blue shouldn’t be able to take him off the bridle and it should be a simple case of Barry Geharty pushing the button and taking this with ease.
With PN’s in the race my hope is Spirit Son (Nap) will be backable. He should be as his form on paper doesn’t add up to much and Cedre Bleu’s win would have impressive a lot of punters last time.
Not going to be a great price but better a winner at 1/1 than a 5/1 loser.
Definitely a major bet for me but how major depends on Riverside Theatre today as it could end up being nothing more than a retrieval mission if he loses.
Not that any of that will matter if Get me Out Of Here or Recession Proof win the Tote Gold Trophy. Preferably the former.
Happy Saturdays!

This will be my last post on this forum. According to TAPK I am a liar and make everything up…I resent that and know within myslef I have never told single lie to anyone. Bar once when I was asked about a horse and said I didn’t know but would have lost a good friend had I spilled the beans.
I’ve had enough of his crap and it’s taken all the enjoyment out of being here.
At least I can go out on a 4/9 winner Pretty chuffed with myself having spotted yet another superstar in the making after winning a moderate race that not one single poster by myself oaid the least bit of attention to…………a second Binocular? Perhaps not, but one damn good horse well capable of winning the Supreme.
Won over 4k off him yesterday have now 3,184 quid on him to the penny AP for the Supreme 22/1 to 14/1 so I need TAPK’s sh!te like I need a like I need a hole in the head. I like having fun not getting angry over some low life who does nothing but ruin every thread he posts in
Here’s my last bit of info for anyone who like a quiz and an AP bet: Doraglide just keeps improving and is expected to win at Chetenham but it’s a bit mixed up and you’ll need one of these "’" to work it out.
Take care all
