Are gravy and/or curry sauce on fish and chips an abomination?

Can’t add much to the thread as a vegetarian but I do quite like mushy peas with chips, plus plenty of salt and vinegar of course. In my head the peas count towards the five a day, whether they actually do I wouldn’t know. And always check it’s vegetable oil!
I did try a deep fried Mars bar at a chippy up in Scotland once. No idea if anyone actually eats them or if they just sell them to clueless tourists because that’s what we expect but I have to say it was glorious.
January 6, 2026 at 04:15 #1749679I can confirm we don’t , however my stepdaughter eats a sausage supper with curry sauce AND cheese on it … Don’t ask .. my late dad made up a sandwich with marmalade and crisps in it , crisps are never ok in a sandwich
