Runs at Wetherby on Saturday.
October 31, 2008 at 17:56 #187259A low budget British horror made in the 60’s called Death Line.
Cannibals evolved from workers trapped in a roof fall during the digging of a tube tunnel – passengers snatched from platforms late at night – the snatcher knows only three words of English, which he repeats in all circumstances :
"Mind the doors".
The cannibals had a larder, with twenty commuters hung up on meat hooks.
I watched it in a cinema in Wood Green next to a tube station. When the audience left at 10:30, every single one of us went to the bus stop …….
October 31, 2008 at 18:22 #187262I thought you were joking but the gospel according to Wikipedia says it’s for real and a review says it sounds barmy but is actually really frightening….forgotten what a good actor Donald Pleasance was….my son occassionaly does maintenance work on the tube at night, I wonder if he’s heard about it…
January 17, 2009 at 20:21 #204709Don’t go and see this hyped teen Vamp flick ‘Twilight’.
It’s total carp!
Any other tips people?
January 17, 2009 at 20:28 #204711Went to see Role Models the other week – childish but very funny in an American Pie, Van Wilder kind of way. C’est Magique!
January 17, 2009 at 20:38 #204714Best newish film I have seen lately is that new batman one.
Watched "One flew over the cuckoos nest." and "The Hill" last night, had forgotten just how good they are.
The Hill is a bit under rated and is in black and white but the acting, story and attention to detail are absolutely top notch.
Have been watching loads of newish DVDs lately but nothing really worth mentioning.
Wtached "Rise Of The Footsoldier" the other day and can safely say it is well worth giving a miss, it just seemed completely made up, and the film Essex Boys had already covered the same story.
January 17, 2009 at 20:50 #204717If you like westerns Appaloosa is okay
January 17, 2009 at 20:55 #204719January 19, 2009 at 07:08 #205084Watched ‘The Wrestler’ over the weekend.
Should be nominated for an Oscar and it will be a travesty if Mickey Rourke doesn’t collect for ‘Best Actor’.
You don’t need to be a fan ‘sports entertainment’ to enjoy it and those who don’t know the industry will be quite shocked – I’d imagine it’s all too real for some performers, past and present.
Marisa Tomei, who is excellent btw, also strips-off as an added bonus.
January 19, 2009 at 15:46 #205107Funnily enough I worked with someone at the weekend who told me about Lovefilms and I’d forgotten what it was called, so will check it out….I’m a member of a brilliant film forum called chasingthefrog, but they’re in a different league to me when it comes to their knowledge of films….at the moment I want to try to see a few films with Philip Seymour Hoffman in, having read an article about him in the Observer….
January 19, 2009 at 16:01 #205108Hyped up big time but Slumdog Millionaire is definitely worth a watch.

January 29, 2009 at 01:02 #206944I’ve just seen a trailer for ‘The Damned United’..not out till March but looks absolutely brilliant..can’t wait!
January 29, 2009 at 02:10 #206959Recently been to see "Defiance" starring Daniel Craig. Didn’t disappoint. Gritty.
And "Seven Pounds" starring Will Smith. Not bad, in fact worth watching as the ending is quite moving (if you hadn’t already guessed what’s coming). One to take the missus to see.
When-Oh- when will cinemas seat people in "private" boxes so that their enjoyment of the film isn’t ruined by others sneezing, coughing, munching popcorn and talking?
I’d pay an extra couple of pounds for a seat in a soundproofed box if it meant I didn’t have to endure the sound of some geezer snorting 6,000 litres of snot up his nostrils during the course of a film – as I had to during "Seven Pounds".January 29, 2009 at 02:21 #206962Have just watched "There Will Be Blood" starring the ludicrously self-regarding Daniel Day-Lewis. Just shy of three hours of truly plotless arthouse non-entertainment. Avoid.
Fortunately am just recovering by cueing up "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" which is the film of choice for all transvestite outback road-movie fans (of which I am one).

January 29, 2009 at 05:01 #206975Didnt mind "There will be blood" but thought it was overhyped a bit, and lacked any sort of half decent ending. Daniel day lewis’ performance was almost identical to wild bill in gangs of new york though.
Saw Tropic Thunder and it was pretty good, robert downey junior and tom cruise are really funny in it. First half decent ben stiller movie in some time.
The Day The Earth Stood Still is pretty good too, just watched it last night and if you dont mind sci-fi it aint bad.
Rock’N’Rolla isnt bad either, Guy Ritchies best since snatch, and although weve seen this sort of OTT "all londoners are well hard gangster people" movie from him before it is far better than revolver and not a bad watch.
Have also dowloaded that Gervais one "GhostTown" and "Zach and Miri Make a Porno", havent watched either yet and may just give Zach and miri a swerve as every movie that "Superbad" lot have made has been a bit toss.
EDIT – Watched Ghost Town last night and although it isnt a bad romantic comedy, it is more romantic than comedy. Not Gervais’ best work IMO.
January 30, 2009 at 01:53 #207093I watched ‘Idiocracy’ last night and thought it was hilarious.
