"Form and Time Analysis Explained" has always been the working title.
"Buy This And Back Winners!" may be better, however.

October 10, 2006 at 13:37 #77828how are official distances found? is it 0.2 / L
October 10, 2006 at 14:25 #77829Official margins at the finish of a race are a conversion of time differences between the horses at a rate of 0.2 sec = length on the Flat and 0.25 sec = length over jumps.
It should not be imagined that this conforms to "reality", however. Horses are usually covering more than a length in the time margins given, even at the end of a race.

October 10, 2006 at 19:21 #77832A very good thread which I’ve just read, having been ‘en vacances’ for a couple of weeks.
I, too would like to read the esteemed Prufrock’s magnum opus if he ever decided to publish, but fear that there is no money in it (ask Alan Potts).
Even Egypt’s leading novelist – think how many people live in Cairo – has to practice dentistry to make ends meet.
When I think of all the ‘guessing’ punters in all the betting offices up and down the land who never seek out the wisdom available in books on betting and racing, it persuades me that those of us who do, must have a big edge over them.
I wonder what they do read, apart from the tabloid press?
