Looking at Cheltenham on my weather app, rain is forecast for eight of the next nine days. The question is: how much?
March 3, 2019 at 13:31 #1399601Not a forecast site but a good site for what is / has fallen.
March 3, 2019 at 14:25 #1399607I am just a 7 hour 59 minute walk away from cheltenham racecourse and a car is no good to me I need a boat after that downpour we just had.

So eight hours on Elegant Escape, then?
March 3, 2019 at 15:59 #1399616Thunderstorms and heavy rain ?!
Show me where I can see that forecast, please.
March 3, 2019 at 16:48 #1399623I took this photo on my phone this morning.
Someone needs to tell the canoeist it’s a left handed track and he is going the wrong way.March 3, 2019 at 18:57 #1399634Where is this forecast for thunderstorms, Potato ?
Not often I get to see thunderstorms when it’s 8 degrees

March 4, 2019 at 18:16 #139972813mm over last two days and the forecast I use says 8mm tomorrow, not 20mm, with 35-40mm between now and the festival
March 4, 2019 at 18:35 #1399732different sites say different things.
The key rainfall will be if it rains heavily on the weds and or Thursday especially if it’s raining whilst the racing is on.
The site I use has predicted biblical amounts of rainfall on the weds and thursday.
March 4, 2019 at 20:37 #1399737What happened to insanely wet Storm Freya then ?
This was the forecast that I posted on Feb 17th and it was pretty much spot on
“ The long term forecast website I use suggests there will be little rain between now and the end of the month ( 20mm accumulated in the South West and much of England ) another high pressure next weekend but early March could see cold air from the Arctic drop into Scandinavia and Central Europe – similar to last Spring “
8-9 degrees all next week with just occasional showers for the Cotswolds.
March 4, 2019 at 21:13 #1399741My google search is better than your google search

It comes to something when all you have been reduced to is claiming you have acessed the best weather site on a racing forum.

It’s not all i have, it’s all your coming up with. Wild assertions about the abilities of Elegant Escape and the amount of rain that will fall during the festival; I haven’t seen one forecast that resembles the one you’re giving, for which i’ve asked proof of but received nothing but another little ditty
They had 0.6mm yesterday, which makes almost 14mm in three days.
Currently Good, Good to Soft in places with showers due all day today -one forecast says 8mm, one says more.
( Good to Soft at the bottom of the hill and the turn back onto the course near the line, probably due to the run-off from the Best Mate enclosure )

Maybe the clerk of course is having us on

Absolutely battering it down right at this moment. When I say heavy I mean heavy.
I’m in worcester but it’s only 20 miles or so away. Will almost certainly be the same at chelt.

and now you better believe us
March 6, 2019 at 14:48 #1399914Even if there was plenty of rain I would expect Native River to finish ahead of Elegant Escape anyway. I don’t see any permutation of the ground conditions entertaining an Elegant Escape win.
March 6, 2019 at 17:01 #1399936Thanks for letting me know Mike.
I will rip up my betting tickets because you cant see Elegant escape winning.

When you have woken up and stopped dreaming let me know.
Native River is not even 100% fit in my personal opinion.
March 6, 2019 at 17:07 #1399937Given the absence of rain this season, I would imagine, any rain we have had or will have, will, within reason, be very easily absorbed by the ground and will drain away pretty quickly. The water table also needs to be considered.
