Hey Arazi – I like Hawk Wing – forgot that one!!
October 15, 2007 at 18:25 #119647Where do I start? I agree with Flagship Uberalles, it rolls off the tongue, same as Edredon Bleu, another favourite.

Thisthatantother
Comedy of Errors
Little Big Horse
Ahgowangowan
Buzy Bakson (which no-one ever pronounces right – although saying that I may not have spelt it right….)

Star de Mohaison

October 15, 2007 at 18:27 #119648also, going back in time you can’t beat Golden Miller,Prince Regent and Easter Hero…..
October 15, 2007 at 18:51 #119663I’m trying to think WAY back to a horse with some sort of clerical name (yes this is vague!), something with "Cardinal" or "Bishop" in it. And a girl’s name attached too. Any ideas?
God what it is to be old and have a crap memory!
October 15, 2007 at 19:03 #119666azertyuiop is a cracking clever name. Good horse too.
A rubbish horse a few years ago called Ham n eggs (owned by bloke called Hammond)
Another one owned by my dad’s mate was Wet Patch (nice!?)
Beef or Salmon I liked too.
Billy Ballbreaker (interesting…)October 15, 2007 at 19:04 #119667The Tsarevich
Special CargoOctober 15, 2007 at 19:08 #119668areyoutalkingtome
October 15, 2007 at 19:33 #119675Well there was Bishop’s Court of Linda Ramsdens and a Bishop of Jonjo O neil’s that won a decent handicap at the Cheltenham open meeting a couple of years ago if I remember correctly, can’t remember Jonjo’s one fully though.
Bold Bishop ~ ex Alastair Charlton
October 15, 2007 at 19:57 #119683i like ‘Jair Du Cochet’ – dunno what it means but another one that rolls off the tongue , cracking animal too!!
October 15, 2007 at 20:00 #119684I like MICKMACMAGOOLE, apparently it’s Gaelic for "not trained by Seamus O’Donnell".
Geojimali, Italian for "missed the break" and Benandoner (named after a kebab-flavoured ice cream) are other favourites,
October 15, 2007 at 20:16 #119690Whoever thought of Hoof Hearted is a very clever person also.
Mike
October 15, 2007 at 20:19 #119693My interest in racing began when I saw a chaser called Tetra Humpty Dumpty running on TV in the 60s. Goodness knows what the owners were thinking of.
In more recent times Transvestite’s runs bring the inevitable comment about having a great change of gear.
October 15, 2007 at 20:32 #119698The Hucking Horses can have their moments, my personal favourite being Hucking Heist which won on it’s debut at Lingfield recently.
October 15, 2007 at 20:33 #119699Agree that some of the Coolmore horses have good names, especially the ‘American’ ones;
Black Sam Bellamy
Black Jack Ketchum
Judge Roy Bean
High Chapparal
Rhinestone Cowboy
Wichita LinemanOctober 15, 2007 at 21:00 #119710TRISKAIDECAPHOBIA, who thommo can’t wait to tell racegoers is the fear of the number 12.
October 15, 2007 at 21:01 #119711Always thought POTOOOOOOOO was clever. Actually a son of the legendary ECLIPSE, which is another classic name synonymous with the turf.
I normally associated most Derby Winners with classic names, and then Benny the Dip came along.
Finally, the clever ones that can encourage spoonerisms with devasting results are worthy of mention. Stunt Kite, when they were fashionable, may have been a good one. Also, used to have a manager in our organisation called Michael Hunt. Insisted on being called Mike Hunt.
Regards,
Dave
