I’m not too worried about free kicks, cards etc.. Refs get them wrong from time to time, I can live with that
Its things that are black and white like the goal being a good yard onside, should never be allowed to not stand. They noticed the mistake soon after so stop the game. I not fussed about the rule book saying you can’t stop the game after a restart, its faulty. Take the rap. Maybe the life ban is far to over the top but I was not in the best of moods Saturday night..

I’ve said the same about City. If Haaland and KDB were to miss a chunk of the season it could catch up with them
They played a lot of games last season and they are not machines
The league cup loss and the weekend defeat plus only beating Sheff Utd late on have shown signs they are not quite as strong as they are hyped up to be although the level is higher enough still to be a tough but to crackCharles Darwin to conquer the World
October 3, 2023 at 12:27 #1665431Fair enough Nathan, we’ve all been there

Agree really, just keep it simple. Anything that goes to VAR ‘is this a goal or not’, ‘is this a penalty or not’ rather than ‘check this for me’. Black and white plus big decisions only, just accept the marginal calls on fouls and yellow cards etc and move on. Games are taking long enough now with quarter of an hour added time and players arsing about time wasting. We don’t need to microanalyse every decision or we’ll be there for three hours trying to play 90 minutes.
If there is a conspiracy against any particular club, it would be easier without VAR because only the ref gets the final say with nothing you can do about it. Having VAR involved means you need to corrupt more officials which is harder.
October 3, 2023 at 18:56 #1665467I’m not convinced by the audio to be honest
The bloke saying we can’t do anything, we can’t do anything is not the referee. Its the refs decision to make and should have been informed of the mistake straight awayCharles Darwin to conquer the World

Yes, the ref should have been informed straight away Nathan. But after the VAR man said “check complete” the game immediately restarted. The VAR bloke then saying “we can’t do anything, we can’t do anything” was stating a fact. Because after the game has restarted the rules state neither VAR nor the on pitch ref can change the no goal decision.
Rules need changing.
Value Is EverythingOctober 3, 2023 at 22:09 #1665506Yes the rules need updating, they are only 100 years old
The ref know the rules Ginge.
It’s my team so I can’t say much as would be called bias but how was it operator that noticed the game restarted as an offside free kick and not the VAR
Yet another mistake
Many, many mistakes in that video
I forgive the man as I know this will push the fans and team onCharles Darwin to conquer the World
October 4, 2023 at 10:21 #1665555Ok now I’ve heard it, it’s just a communication balls up. One that shouldn’t happen but nothing more sinister than that.
‘Check complete’ is not sufficient as a message. ‘Check complete, onside, goal’ is all it would have taken.
Clearer communication at all points is all that’s needed and this shouldn’t happen again.
The TMO in rugby is just as controversial but they do at least communicate clearly. The on field ref will describe what he’s seen and then once a decision is made, they all confirm it with each other. We also hear some of the TMO deliberation live. Yes it’s more of a stop start sport but I’d accept a slight hold up for something as important as a goal. They mess around celebrating for 30 seconds plus anyway if it is a goal.

Too bloody right… It all happened very quick and I’m sure by now they can do it in their sleep but that’s where mistakes happen.

October 4, 2023 at 17:10 #1665599Yes it all sounded very rushed to me. I know it’s a pressure situation but would an extra thirty seconds hurt occasionally?
If only the big decisions are referred to VAR then it’s not going to hold the match up too much. Like you say, just go with the ref for the small stuff and most of us can accept that.
October 6, 2023 at 17:01 #1665813The Spurs boss has come out and said he would have refused a walk in goal had the ref explained things to him at the time.. seems a bit of pr!ck to be honest

October 20, 2023 at 14:44 #1667282Ginger, here’s one for you
Since Klopp took over Liverpool will have had 14 12:30 kick offs straight after the International break including this one and the next break vs City… The next nearest is Spurs with 6

October 21, 2023 at 00:49 #1667358The person who decides which match they want to televise at 12:30 must be a Liverpool fan…
Or maybe that should be “not a Liverpool fan”.
Who does decide these things?
Is it the company who’s televising the game?
Or are they told by the Premier League what fixture they are getting?
Are these things decided at the start of the season or two weeks ago or when?
Value Is EverythingOctober 21, 2023 at 10:29 #1667394I’m not sure who decides. The TV company’s will have some input I’m sure.
The numbers I put are 12:30 kick offs in total
the International break is 8 Liverpool the nearest after that is 2https://www.squawka.com/en/premier-league-early-kick-off-analysis/
Its part of the game and you have to get on with it but there really should be a fairer system

November 10, 2023 at 12:38 #1669909Yet another dubious VAR decision goes against Liverpool.
Value Is EverythingNovember 10, 2023 at 13:40 #1669916UEFA won’t want Liverpool doing well in Europe after we pulled their pants down over the scandoulous organisation of the Paris champions league final a couple years back.
Probably one of the reasons why Liverpool didn’t make the CL for this season as well as playing crap of course

January 14, 2024 at 17:26 #1677367I’m hearing Liverpool will get the 12.30 slot after the next international break
