Obviously our resident Coral odds compiler TDK was as impressed as I was by Denman on Saturday, given that they now go 6/4. You would think, therefore that they’d be top price some of the other market-leaders, but not a bit of it- they go 2/1 Kuato, 7/1 Exotic, 12/1 My Way.
The front 4 take out 93% for a race that is 3 months away for staying chasers that are notoriously difficult to keep sound.
What’s going on James- should we pack in this ante-post lark and play the FOBTs instead?December 6, 2007 at 15:02 #129143In fairness, they’re out to "get" Celestial Gold!
December 6, 2007 at 16:03 #129146The front three look miles clear of the pack to us and it probably needs all three to get injured for one of them not to win. Admittedly it may not be very exciting not to be taking a big view against any of them, but I don’t think it makes sense to do so at this stage and what other firms want to do is entirely up to them.
December 6, 2007 at 16:12 #129147You could go 16 My Way, give us punters another couple of percent…….
Fair enough though, I agree with you. Wonder if you get many short-sighted pensioners backing Denman at 6/4…..December 6, 2007 at 16:15 #129148Lol. When it is a 6 runner race on the day and Denman hacks up by the length of the hill at 5-6 he will feel he has nicked a bit of value
December 6, 2007 at 16:57 #129153After the King George, they won’t be aiming My Way de Solzen at the Gold Cup!
December 6, 2007 at 17:02 #129154One for Age Concern methinks.
TDK – the new year’s specials section of the Racing Post is only four weeks away and I’ve had a hefty wager with a mate that No Morals will be chalking up single figures about at least one named horse winning the triple crown.
You’re not gonna let me down are you?
December 6, 2007 at 17:35 #129163Someone has to pay for those Turf Trax pictures…
December 6, 2007 at 18:47 #129168These specials often end up looking bad value prices, simply because people seem to want to back them at all rates.
We were laying Teofilo at 10s to win the Triple Crown, so what were we meant to do? Go 25s?
December 6, 2007 at 18:56 #129171Are you laying any 6/4 about Denman, TDK?
December 6, 2007 at 19:03 #129172No Grassy.
We will lay plenty of him on the day and he will still probably be a losing result when he wins.
"Damage limitation" I think it is called
December 6, 2007 at 19:18 #129174When he wins???? wish I had a crystal ball

Won’t be 6/4 after the King George and a fitter than last time Kauto Star wins by 8 lengths on the bridle…….on the day you will readily get 9/2 about Denman who will get his ass felt big time in the race.
How’s that for a crystal Ball?
December 6, 2007 at 19:25 #129176Balls were involved, certainly.
December 6, 2007 at 21:47 #129203None of them would have held a candle to MATEY, as a forum contributor from elsewhere might have said to me once…
December 6, 2007 at 22:03 #129208Must have been on drugs
January 2, 2008 at 20:06 #133020on the day you will readily get 9/2 about Denman who will get his ass felt big time in the race.
9/2?????!!!!!!!! Fancy laying some of that 9/2?!
January 2, 2008 at 20:19 #1330219/2?????!!!!!!!! Fancy laying some of that 9/2?!
You’ve had a nine pound to two, win only.
